I have to tell that this snatchblock's level of durability really impresses me. It was particularly purchased for me to transfer a disabled tractor onto a trailer. I purchased a 730 JD tractor from the COOP that weighed 6,940 lbs and had no front axle or rear tires. The tractor hadn't been used in years. This snatchblock handled the maximum weight it was designed for, possibly even a little bit more. Within the first five minutes of loading, I broke a link in one of my 5/8" log chains. The snatchblock was launched into the front of the trailer when the chain broke, exploding upon impact. Fortunately, I was able to locate the two snap rings and put it back together using just a pair of common pliers. I was able to load the tractor, but my 10k lb winch was at its limit. The snatchblock is undoubtedly used, but I'm still happy with how durable it is. It is a really well built item based on how it is constructed and the testing I put it through. In just one assignment, it more than covered its costs. I would get the larger size if I were to do it again, and I would never advocate pushing anything past its breaking point. I recognized the dangers I was taking because I was in a bind. To demonstrate the abuse it endured, I'll post some images of it on this page. In a vise and on my anvil, I straightened it out, and I also got some new snap rings for it. It is in excellent condition and prepared for the next task, despite some minor scratches and scuffs.

Make sure this size is acceptable by examining the line or rope you intend to use; I used 1/4" line, and it works just well. Although the next day delivery was actually two days after I placed my order, it was still quick. These pulleys are not enormous, but they are perfect for the "reel in" technique I used for my little Sunfish yacht. They are as advertised: straightforward and well-made. It's unclear whether they'll endure in the water constantly throughout the year. I think they'll do it.

My rarely used 2,000 lb hand-crank winch was the ideal fit for this inexpensive, medium-load snatch block. For my daughter's physics assignment, I bought this set of pulley blocks to control movement. They were sufficiently robust and the ideal size for use with the paracord she was carrying. Since they were the cheapest at approximately $2 each, I genuinely chose these. For the work we gave them, they were more than powerful enough. Both in terms of pricing and structure, they are affordable. However, due to their size and quality, I can only use one to hang a bear bag. They meet their objectives and are priced reasonably, thus I am giving them a five-star rating. However, given the price, they are more than adequate. There is a fair amount of play in the swivel and the wheel that is not present in larger and higher quality blocks.

They're excellent! There is no brand better than National. Avoid the less expensive cast models; they are worthless. I've used two of these outside for a while now. They perform excellent for me as a block and tackle when I use a pair of them. I've had a bird feeder that weighs more than 30 pounds strung from roof rafters that I lift and lower every day in the summer, and it's still like new!
