Brillo pads are not steel wool. They are made of steel wool and soap.
There are different grades of steel wool. The different grades are used for different purposes. The lower grades are used for cleaning and the higher grades are used for polishing.
Sure, steel wool can rust. It's made of iron, after all. When it rusts, it can stain surfaces and leave a nasty mess.
Yes, you can buff wax with steel wool. This will help to remove any excess wax and give the surface a nice sheen.

Truth be told, this steel wool expands considerably more than I anticipated, so after filling all the holes I required, I still had about half left over. I got this steel wool because I assumed I would need this much to fill all the minor holes in my house.Wearing gloves will prevent you from getting slivers of metal in your skin.Additionally, wearing glasses and a breathing barrier would be beneficial.I still have one entire packet and then some leftover, so I don't need to buy this again.

I purchased it after reading in a craft book that copper wire should be polished with 0000 steel wool before wire wrapping. Although I don't have much experience with steel wool, I have been pleased with this.Simply wrap one of the pads around the piece of wire and run it up and down a few times to polish my wire. An additional benefit of this motion is that it somewhat straightens the wire. It doesn't shed any small pieces all over my work desk and is comfortable to hold with my bare hands. I'm doing my best to keep it dry because I want to use it for a very long time before replacing. Please bear in mind that this might not operate as well when it gets wet as it does when it's dry. (Steel can rust, and the smaller the fibers, the greater the product's surface area relative to its total volume. More surface area increases the likelihood of rust.)Anyway, after using this to polish my wire, it looks fine and is unscratched (I am using pure copper wire that is not coated), so I am satisfied.

I purchased these steel wool pads to restore some antique cast iron pans that had grown rusty after sitting for too long. After washing the pans thoroughly, I added some coarse salt. For cleaning the pans and eliminating the rust, the pads worked fantastically. They appeared to be brand-new after I reseasoned them in the oven.Wearing gloves is the only piece of advice I have because using these pads without them could result in tiny shards of steel piercing your skin, which isn't very pleasant.
No, you don't need gloves for steel wool, but you might want to use them anyway. Steel wool can be very abrasive and cause skin irritation. If you're using it for a long period of time, or if your skin is sensitive, you might want to consider wearing gloves.
Steel wool is a great way to keep mice out. Mice can't chew through it, so they'll be unable to get into your home. Plus, it's a natural material, so it's safe for you and your family.
To remove paint from wood without sanding, you will need to use a paint stripper. Paint strippers come in both liquid and gel form and can be found at most hardware stores. When using a paint stripper, be sure to follow the directions on the label and work in a well-ventilated area. Once the paint has been stripped, you can then sand the wood to remove any remaining paint.
To use 0000 steel wool on furniture, first sand the surface with a medium-grit sandpaper to create a smooth base. Then, using a clean, dry cloth, apply the steel wool in long, even strokes in the direction of the grain. Buff out any excess with a clean, dry cloth.
If you need to remove paint from wood, it's best to use steel wool or sandpaper. Steel wool is finer than sandpaper and will remove paint without damaging the wood.
