Yes, you can use hex shank drill bits in a regular drill. The hex shank provides a more secure connection between the drill bit and the drill, so it is less likely to slip or come loose.
Not all drill bits fit all drills. The most common type of drill has a 3/8-inch chuck, which is the size of drill bits used most often. There are, however, other types of drills that use different size drill bits.
To identify the type of drill bit you have, look for a markings on the bit that indicates its size, material, and type. The most common types of drill bits are twist bits, spade bits, and masonry bits. twist bits are the most common type of drill bit and are used for drilling in wood and metal. Spade bits have a flat tip that is used for drilling large holes in wood. Masonry bits are used for drilling in concrete and brick.
There are a few things you need to consider when choosing the right drill bit for the job. The first is the material you're drilling into. Different materials require different types of drill bits. For example, softer materials like wood can be drilled with high-speed steel (HSS) bits, while harder materials like metal require carbide-tipped bits. The second thing to consider is the size of the hole you need to drill. Make sure the drill bit you choose is the right size for the job. If you're unsure, it's always better to err on the

ANSI M35 (H.S.S. + 5% Cobalt) S & D Drill, Gold and black color
With aggressive 135° split points, these cobalt drills bits not only last longer while drilling but also cut faster than standard high-speed steel bits.
6" overall length with 3" flute length;
It's ideal for drilling cast iron, heat-treated steel, stainless steel and other hard materials.

The drill bits have a beautiful uniformity and seem to be sharp. Instead of having to unwrap each element individually, this was delivered as a set and was already in the block. But because the bits were already in the block, it was inevitable that the block would break in transit. The block in the first order was split lengthwise at the middle holes. It was returned and reordered, but the block was still fractured lengthwise along one of the side rows in the second order. We will now be gluing the base back together because we don't have much confidence that a replacement will withstand transit damage any better than the first two did. Disappointing.

This drill bit's description was correct. The quality exceeded my expectations at a reasonable cost. A full set of these drill bits is something I'd think about getting.

When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging
Manufactured to National Aerospace standard 907
Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems
Cobalt steel tools are similar to high-speed steel, but with more cobalt for improved performance when cutting harder metals such as stainless steel or nickel alloys
Gold oxide is a thinner oxide surface treatment than black oxide typically used to identify cobalt steel tools; performance is similar to uncoated tools

These large (3/4" and 1") drill bits work incredibly well. Finding these through other retailers at pricing even remotely close to those on Amazon was extremely difficult. They have successfully cut holes in a variety of materials, including 3/8" hot-rolled steel and 22G sheet metal. Although I haven't used them much as of this review, I will use them frequently and should have more information on wear characteristics and re-sharpening. You couldn't ask for better handling or delivery from Amazon, with a 2-day turnaround. enclosed in a lovely plastic sleeve for protection.

There are 3 types of size of drill bits- small, medium, and large. The small drill bits are used for drilling small holes, the medium drill bits are used for drilling medium holes, and the large drill bits are used for drilling large holes.
There are 5 types of drill bits: 1. Spade bits - have a cutting edge at the tip and two cutting spurs on the sides. They are used to drill large holes in wood. 2. Auger bits - have a spiral cutting edge that drills through wood quickly. They are used to drill large holes in wood. 3. Brad point bits - have a sharp point that helps them stay on course while drilling. They are used to drill small holes in wood. 4. Twist bits - have a spiral cutting edge that drills through metal
There are two types of drill shanks: the straight shank and the taper shank. The straight shank is the most common type and is used in most power drills. The taper shank is less common and is used in some specialized applications.
SDS is an abbreviation for “self-drilling screw.†A self-drilling screw is a type of screw that is designed to drill its own hole as it is driven into a material. This type of screw is often used in applications where it is not possible or convenient to drill a pilot hole before driving the screw.
The SDS Plus shank is a type of drill bit that is used in rotary hammers. It is designed to fit into the chuck of a rotary hammer that has an SDS Plus chuck. The SDS Plus shank is made from high-speed steel and is fluted to allow for quick and easy drilling.
A 3 flat shank is a type of drill bit that is used to create pilot holes for screws. It is designed with three flat sides that help to keep the bit from slipping while in use.
