I use this simple roller platform to hold lengthy pieces of wood on my low-cost table saw. As a casual and inexperienced carpenter, I didn't want to invest too much money on this kind of machinery. Because the plastic "sliders" on the stand don't travel smoothly when planing heavier boards, I bought this roller to use on my Rockwell shop stand. To support my metal bandsaw and table saw, I was ready to construct some roller stands. I made the decision to do a little internet research and discovered these Vestil stands. I purchased two stands after reading through the reviews. They were simple to assemble and delivered swiftly. In order to get the roller to be the same height as the band saw table, I did wind up taking 1/2" off the bottom of the tube where it enters the leg. This should still enable the stand to raise the table saw high enough for me. The stand's weight and the quality and smoothness of the roller amazed me. The weight capacity of each stand is 1760 lb, which is considerably more than I will be using them for. Others expressed concern about losing the Allen wrench and disliked using it to tighten the clamp while adjusting the height. I did take a metric bolt, thread a nut on completely, and then weld the nut to the bolt's head side. Then I added a piece of metal with welding to create a T handle bolt. I'm unsure if this provides sufficient leverage to tighten the clamp so that it maintains the required height. I haven't yet decided whether this will hold up the roller with enough strength, especially if there are large objects on the stands. To prevent the Allen wrench from getting lost when not in use, I could end up building a holder for it to sit in.

Lazy. characteristics that I value.Scabby things are just scabby; if it bothers you that much, take the effort to clean it up yourself. The mechanism, as mentioned by another reviewer, relies on a rectangular metal post with a wedge-shaped top that fits into the square post of the stand. The advantages are numerous. For instance, once you tighten the locking handle, the top post "wedges" itself into position and prevents the post from falling any further. It also creates a stand that is incredibly stable and strong. Additionally, lowering the stand with one hand is possible by just releasing the crank handle, albeit being noisy.Cons include the following: The top post may occasionally become "wedged" in place and be difficult to remove (and turning the locking handle is difficult because so much pressure is pushing on it from the wedge). Additionally, if you occasionally grab your stand by the top (or the wedge post linked to it), you risk only retaining the top half of the stand and causing it to get dislodged from the base. The fact that it's so challenging for me to make small tweaks is another issue.
