I put off posting a review for a few weeks. You know, whether they are made of plastic, metal, glass, etc., or not, I have VERY strong, hard nails that tend to quickly wear out my files. I had purchased a glass file from Sally Beauty, but after only a few usage, the roughness had worn off. It is a genuine crystal file, not a replica. After my last crystal file broke in half, I actually purchased a fake one from a nearby shop, and that is how I learned that fakes do exist. I looked in my neighborhood beauty shops to find another genuine one, but it seems that no one carries them any more. I wonder if this is because they last so long. nail files that are more effective on fake nails. One side of the files I bought is 100 grit, and the other is 180 grit. These were too abrasive for my natural nails because 100 Grit is a fairly coarse material. However, toe nails and artificial/acrylic nails would benefit from these. They are excellent sanding tools as well. Although slightly softer than the 180 Grit side, it is still quite harsh. These files wouldn't work on my thin nails, but I believe they might be effective on those with larger nails or perhaps on toe nails. I consider it to be a fantastic value since you get 10 for $8. Since they aren't too pricey, you can freely use them and discard them when they are no longer functional. However, I believe they would last you for a while because they are rather durable. Overall, nail files are affordable as long as you use them as intended.

The hardest part of taking care of my (nearly) 97-year-old father is selecting things that will meet his needs and be easy for him to use. The "pads" on each side of the file haven't needed to be changed in the past six months, but this is the first time. The process was quite simple. Each piece simply peeled off, and reapplying them was easy. I still have three sets of replacement pads in addition to the new ones I just put on. They're excellent. In a typical day, I keep one with me and leave an extra almost anywhere I spend more than an hour. They are excellent for getting rid of split, damaged, or somewhat excessively long nails. I have struggled with chewing my nails for a very long time. I've finally been able to quit now. These saved me from having to use nail cutters on my baby's nails because I was far too afraid to do so! A nurse once told me that it's a popular misperception that filing your nails after a bath is a good idea. Never file after taking a bath! Because they are too soft, it causes the nail to crack, which could harm your child. Trimming after a wash is acceptable, but you should use these files after the baby's nails have dried.
