I had to look far and wide to locate these shorter, 6 "arms on float valves. most common arms are eight "Long and incompatible with smaller toilets (such as those sold in kits at the neighborhood hardware store or on Amazon). This is the appropriate component for the job if your toilet tank is smaller. Since they were reasonably priced, I decided to buy one for each of the four toilets in the home in case the other three also rusted through their outdated rods. Our toilets' original/standard float arms have all rusted for some reason. This one should work well because it is stainless steel. The top choice (and sole choice) for compact toilet tanks!

This object is considerably smaller than what I had imagined. The entire assembly can fit in small locations for a fountain project or in a sump to manage the water level in a swimming pool because it is barely longer than my open hand. The description on Amazon.com, which lists its length as 1 inch, is absurd: In worst-case scenarios, the mounting flange to the tip of the float is 6.5 inches away from the entire length, which is around 7.5 inches. For a clearer idea of the valve's true size, see the second vendor-supplied image, which shows the valve photographed against an inch grid.) The valve could fit into a place as tiny as 8 inches by 2 inches with enough to spare for installation and adjustment. To provide enough thread protrusion on the outside to attach a threaded pipe fitting when put in a bulkhead, the mounting surface must be level and no thicker than 0.25 inches. Bulkhead mounting is not required. The valve has a slightly tapered male pipe thread that may be inserted into any female pipe thread fitting to create a watertight seal.The valve orifice was measured with a drill rod to be 0.094 inch (3/32 inch) in diameter, which explains the low flow rate need. Although you might not want to start from scratch when filling a pool, it will allow more than enough water to flow through a standard backyard pool to make up for evaporation loss. If necessary, the float arm can be easily dismantled because it pivots on a stainless steel cotter pin, but given the low cost of the assembly, it might be more cost-effective to replace it fully. By removing the stainless steel wing nut, the float can be adjusted over a liquid level range of at least 4 inches, and possibly as much as 6 inches, depending on where the valve is located.During a month-long absence last summer, one of these valves was effectively employed to keep the water level in a neighbor's swimming pool at a certain level. See the customer photo I posted, which demonstrates the straightforward installation using a garden hose, a few pieces of PVC plastic plumbing, and a regular brick. The only issue I ever had was when the hose from the automatic pool sweep got caught on the valve and kept it open all the time. By the time I realized the issue the following day, no flooding had taken place due to the restricted flow. If I use it again the following summer, I'll attach the valve with some kind of "fence" or bumper around it to prevent the pool sweep hose from getting in the way, and I'll swap out the leaky plastic hose fitting for a more durable brass fitting.

550 gallon water tank with float added for transporting water to the field for spraying. The nut slips while tightening with light stress, that's the only problem. My installation didn't have a problem because I added an elbow and a quick couple for a garden hose to support the supplied nut (See Photo). Tank filling once so far has performed as predicted. This season, we won't filling tanks without turning off the water in the past and flooding the barn lot.

Despite the fact that my first unit was faulty, I'll rate this product 5 stars. Instantly providing a replacement, Amazon made me happy.With the help of this, I'm directly plumbing RO-filtered water into a Keurig K550 or K560. The features of this valve that I appreciate are as follows:- tiny enough to fit into the reservoir, despite the new Keurig 2.0 machines' peculiar design.- operates even if the water pressure entering from the RO valve is lower than a conventional water line; - exact and predictable shutdown every time- The inlet compression connection is leak-proof.— NSF-certified, US-made PVC. If you're going to use RO water and make sure your tube and fittings are all food-grade, you might as well insist on this for anything coming into touch with your water because it is adjustable enough to fit inside this peculiarly formed Keurig 2.0 reservoir.The angle it ships in is appropriate for side mounting, therefore it was quite easy to convert this to a top-mount option. Simply take off the nut, bend the float arm at the joint in the desired direction, and put the nut back on. In the end, I was able to attach it such that the float could drop and rise without coming into touch with the edges of the reservoir, despite how difficult it was to get this at precisely the perfect angle for the Keurig 2.0 brewer. Because the lid is contoured rather than flat, I had to make the exit piece flush with the top of the lid. As a result, you will need to tighten the nut in a different manner because the outlet sticks up at an angle other than 90 degrees from the lid or top. There are no issues with this equipment because this was more of a Keurig function than a float valve issue.How is this better, exactly? If the outlet could be turned 90 degrees with respect to the axis of the float arm or float, but again, that would be due to the peculiarly shaped reservoirs on the K550/K560. If this option had been available, I could have installed the valve on the side or the back rather than the top. This is because a weird angle would be required between the float arm/float and the discharge due to the extensively curved and sculpted edges of the reservoir.

Hey, that's a really cool thing. I bought it so I could provide water for my Westies. The dogs always have access to fresh water because I put this to the edge of a stainless steel bread pan that I bought for $4 and just hooked some 1/4 inch tubing to. Excellent item. It's quite difficult to clean them and they get mould up behind the mechanism, so I only wish I had done this before buying a $40 water bowl. Now that everything is exposed, I can see if mould is about to grow. One month in, there has been no mold.

I took a chance on it because I wanted to swap out the valve and float in my swimming pool's automatic filler and this looked like it would fit. The filler chamber's opposing wall is cleared by the float. Compared to my previous valve, this type is better because it is simpler to adjust.Unfortunately, the issue I had with my previous valve was still there. When water was released from the valve, a wave was formed in the chamber that tended to cause the valve to resonate at a sympathetic frequency. This caused a chuga-chuga-chuga noise at the filler and pulsing water flow from faucets throughout the house. The valve would open and spray water into the chamber, the sudden spray would create a wave that closed and reopened the valve, and the valve would open a little wider and spray a little harder, creating a bigger wave that opened the valve a little wider, and so on.By attaching a split rubber washer to the valve's arm, I was able to solve the issue. The spray was sufficiently deflected as a result to stop the oscillation in its tracks.
If your toilet fill valve is stuck, you may be able to fix it by simply replacing the rubber washer. If the washer is old or damaged, it may not be sealing properly, which can cause the fill valve to become stuck.
