A wide brim is a pro. Well-made, straightforward design, movable neck strap, adjustable crown size, and air vents in the crown. A non-removable, vented neck flap protects your ears and neck from the sun and flying insects, including mosquitoes. The neck flap cannot be removed, making it impossible for insects to swarm around it or lose it. quite light. takes up little room in a luggage and lays flat.CONS > The brim's underside matches the hat's color. It helps when taking pictures because a similar hat I own from a different brand is black below the brim since it lessens glare. The "Home Preferred" hat should have a black underneath brim, in my opinion. Easily breakable plastic fittings are used to attach the removable neckstrap. The neck flap cannot be stowed or removed. Similar to the one I own, my wife's hat features a space for storing the neck flap in the brim rather than the crown. The wide brim design on the sides and back, as well as the neck flap, are somewhat unnecessary. Yes, you can push the neck flap of the "Home Preferred" cap up into the crown, but doing so results in a double thickness of fabric (holding in the heat), and you've blocked the ventilation vents in the crown. That is, a cap resembling a "baseball" cap with a neck flap would offer almost as excellent protection and be less likely to fly off in the wind.A excellent hat for reducing the effects of the sun, heat, and insects, in conclusion. less desirable when worn without the neck flap or in windy situations (i.e., with the neck flap pushed up into the crown).I wore the hat every day for around three weeks while on a trip of the Caribbean and Amazon River. Interestingly, I never saw a mosquito and did not need to utilize the neck flap as a bug barrier. I did observe that the hat collected a lot of wind and would have repeatedly flown away without the neck strap (which I also ran under my uppermost shirt button for extra security). If I ever make a journey like that again, I'll think about packing a "baseball-type" cap with a neckflap and neckstrap.

Okay. So, anticipating a new job I was taking, I got this hat. In California, I first started working in construction. That translates to "I'm working outside in temperatures of 100 degrees or more while wearing hefty steel toe boots."I required a hat to shield my face from the sun. I reside in a rainy area and have long hair. I make an effort to don hats with long back brims (sometimes called neck coverings). to keep my hair safe. Since the item description claimed that this hat was waterproof, I gambled and bought it. I've tried the majority of hats with a comparable design from various producers.First of all, for the price, this hat is remarkably well made. The open mesh panels should shield my hair from misty rain and drizzles, however they definitely won't offer complete protection during a downpour. Because the mesh panels are relatively small, water cannot pour in.I purchase this in two colors: light khaki and gray. Great looking gray. The pale khaki color is more akin to an unappealing eggshell white, perhaps even a yellowish white. If you're attempting to choose a color, I'd advise against the shade. I won't bother returning that one since it cost less than ten dollars, so I'll just leave it in my car instead. Both the gray and the light khaki versions of the hat's top portion arrive wrinkled, however it seems that with time, the wrinkles will disappear.The gray one is what I advise. However, the light khaki one looks sickly and should be avoided because it will definitely get dirty quickly.

Yes, dry and light! Breathable? Maybe not quite so much. On a recent backpacking walk, I really appreciated the wide brims since I knew that my head wouldn't get wet and that water wouldn't be pouring down my body even when extremely huge drops from trees landed with loud plops on the top or brim of the hat. No issues at all with leaks or soak through.Even after being compressed, it reformed beautifully, looked good, and fit well despite being quite light and appearing to be fairly durable. The retention and adjustment strings performed as intended. The hat was kept off the ground at night by threading its own chin string through the ridgeline of my hammock.While trekking, it was a little toasty and perhaps not as breathable as desired. While trekking, it was helpful to periodically remove the hat to let the heat and humidity that had accumulated there escape.

The other hats of this kind I own were too snug on the head. Carrying them gets tiresome and somewhat bothersome after a while. The sun was wonderfully blocked whether paddle surfing, hiking, strolling along the beach, or doing anything else outdoors. For two weeks, I wore it every day! In windy circumstances, the chin strap tightens. Not too wide that it prevents you from seeing out from underneath. adjustable beneath the chin and around the skull. We all felt comfortable wearing these hats—my husband, kids, and I. Well-suited for washing; I hung or laid ours out to dry to make sure they didn't shrink or dry in an unusual way. So far, I've bought TWO of these caps. When I unintentionally left the first one on the bus, I was really unhappy. I stayed upbeat, though. I comforted myself, "There will be a finder. They HAVE to. My spouse loves the cap I bought for him. Wears it essentially whenever we're going to be outside and engaging in physical activities like gardening, hiking, etc. He claims that the strap that is integrated into the hat's head/cap portion is its best feature. It also has a cord stopper and is elastic and stretchy. He stretches the cord and tightens the clamp, but that sucker isn't moving. With it, he can keep it on even in strong winds without using the chin strap. It has never once blown off, even in the face of fairly severe winds, according to the former light construction worker who occasionally worked outside during summer storms. In fact, he no longer uses the chin strap and simply tucks it up above his head. He praises the fully circumferential brim and claims that it is a significant improvement over the baseball caps he previously wore to work. When he's outside in the sun, it effectively shades his face and neck, and I value the high level of UV protection it provides. His wardrobe now wouldn't be complete without this hat.The fact that the hat has ventilation all the way around the brim is a huge benefit. The majority of sun hats just have one open hole or one mesh button on each side, however this one has an inside mesh lining and is open virtually all the way around. Since the top layer somewhat covers the lower one, rain cannot enter via the vent flap.The corroded snap buttons on the sides are the only thing I have to comment about. I don't understand why the snaps weren't also constructed of a water-resistant substance, like plastic, as the hat itself is rather waterproof.
