The brushes arrived in good condition. The tips look fantastic. As directed, I removed the protective adhesive from the brush heads. I've used the brushes for a while now, and they seem to function nicely. They feel silky to the touch. They work well with my oils, and I so far like the brushes. The secret is to properly maintain and clean your brushes. Spend some time learning about brush maintenance. Otherwise, no tool will be durable enough to meet your needs.

This brush set is nice. It's finely built, but I wish the ferrule was a little flatter to give the brushes a more cats-tongue shape. They resemble using a round brush in many ways. For the curvature of the cat's tongue, the shorter bristle set that this manufacturer supplies in sets of three is preferable. To achieve the flat pointed shape, the ferrule is flattened even more. For painting, I had already bought a set with shorter hair, but I wanted the longer strands for more expressive brushstrokes and to hold more color. Why they didn't simply use the same ferrule with the longer hairs is beyond me. Although the design disappointed me, they are nonetheless handy and well-made. The problem might be resolved by simply flattening the ferrule because the hairs are suitably formed. Simply put, I already have a ton of lovely round brushes in all sizes. I would attempt to flatten them myself, but I worry that I might destroy them all.

sets of excellent professional artist brushes. I've previously purchased Artist's Choice brushes from ZerArt for oil painting and have been happy with them. After purchasing Black Velvet, I've now made the decision to also submit a review for this set. I'm pretty pleased with the black velvet so far because it's comprised of a combination of exquisite synthetic materials and squirrel fur. Overall, a very excellent performance with a very soft touch and pleasant feel. The hairs are lovely and not overly wet (perhaps owing to the synthetics mix), but they also absorb a lot of fluids (exactly like my pure squirrel), so overall it's a benefit from both an ethical and budgetary standpoint. The wooden handles are the perfect size and length, and the stained metal ferrule clings firmly to them without any fussing. I mostly use it for watercolor paintings, but I also use it for minute details and finishing touches while painting with oil. lovely brush It is fantastic for vegetation like trees and bushes. I like this over the larger, 1" circular brush, which is technically classified as a "Foliage" brush because I paint on smaller canvases. Make sure to experiment with the brush's orientation and tapping technique. For various effects, try tape gently and then a little more firmly while either bending your bristles up or down.The fibers like to go crazy if you are tough with the brush, which is the only drawback I can think of. When my larger brushes are not in use, I regulate the bristles by wrapping small rubber bands around them. The bristles will be properly molded together once the brush has set for a day or less with the rubber band around it. Remember that your bristles need to be completely dry before you secure them with the rubber band. If you attempt this with damp bristles, rot, mold, or even rust may result. Use rubber bands of the proper size as well. They should fit snugly but not so tightly that the bristles lose their original shape.On occasion, I've really painted using the bristle bands. However, in most cases, this is neither practical or optimal for the circumstance.Don't worry about the bristles sticking out. These brushes are expertly constructed and made in the USA. When a brush is new, you might receive a few errant paints, but they are big and easy to clean off your painting. I use a little brush and utilize a few of its bristles to dislodge the trapped bristles. I also occasionally use tweezers with sharp, pointed ends.

Being new to oils, I had read that hogs hair brushes should be used. These were inexpensive, so I figured I would try them out and add them to my little collection of brushes. Thanks to these brushes, I'm content. They asked if I had gotten the brushes as a nice touch and sent helpful instructions on how to care for and utilise them. One brush's ferrule had a little clump of hairs that dropped out as the adhesive was being removed from the brushes (there has been very minimum loss on the other brushes if any, even during use). The business reacted right away to my letter, and my replacement was sent on time.

I assumed this brush size (#12) would be the same size as my previous #12 brushes when I ordered it. The fact that the bristles are only 1/2" wide and 1/2" long caught me completely off guard. For instance, the bristles on my 12" flat/bright Grumbacher brush measure just over 1" long and 1" wide. I now understand that different brush manufacturers describe brush sizes differently. Nothing in the advertisement indicates the true size of the bristles, which would be useful.However, because the WN Monarch #12 bristles are taut and bouncy, which I love, I have enjoyed using them. They are suitable for acrylic AND oil painting, according to the advertisement. I've questioned whether the acrylic paint I use, which causes a tiny flare of the bristles when coated in paint, is to blame. I've learned how to make up for it, so thus far it hasn't been a problem.RIGHT NOW, I'd like to buy a #14 that looks exactly like it, but I can't locate a source.
