These brushes were purchased for my daughter, 11, and her friend to use in a class assignment using ancient Chinese calligraphy. The brushes and black watercolour were used by both girls to produce a pleasing end result. They were writing fairly enormous, about 1.5 inch square, characters. A more coordinated adult could certainly create smaller characters using the smallest of the three brushes, however I'm not sure how simple it would be for them to do so. After a few applications, there was initially considerable bristle shedding, but it has since stopped.

I was genuinely surprised when I swatched these and discovered that they were similar to Tombows in a waterbrush. I read the evaluations and decided to give them a try; to my surprise, they performed as most of the reviewers had predicted. I'm incredibly impressed. Since I just make artwork as a hobby and don't sell any of it, I'm always looking for less expensive substitutes for more well-known brands that would produce equivalent results. I do just about every type of artwork there is, and I have pretty much all of my money invested in it. Sincerely, these brush markers are a model of equal quality. I didn't have much space to dig down into all the gradients because my swatch picture was on a very little sheet (about 6x5 inches), but even the first time I used them, I was blown away by how workable each hue was! Yes, I would want more reds and greens, and the first color (a neon yellow) is not at all water soluble, but hey, that price is unbeatable. Even the colors I've used the most haven't shown any indications of slowing down after I used them about a dozen times in the past few weeks; therefore, even if they did, I'd still be content with the amount I paid. Consider purchasing a few more sets before the demand increases as a result of more people buying them, which will eventually happen. While you can, grab them!

The sole brush has come. The issue is that I had anticipated four brushes for the same price after reading the Amazon advertisement. It displays four brushes. I handed it back.The "hang-up" fitting at the handle's end was gone. I think there wasn't enough glue. It is unfortunate that the inventor just applied a small amount of glue because the item appears to be a decent brush. The brush could still be used, though. Why they felt they had to add a cheap, plastic fitting at the end is beyond me.

I've just recently started exploring with these watercolor brush pens, but I'm really like them thus far! I haven't painted in a while, but using these pens made it simple for me to pick it back up. (An example of my inexperienced and rusty attempts is uploaded here.) No need to set up a fresh palette because the colors are ready to paint. The colors are fairly vivid, which is wonderful, and a waterbrush is also provided if you want more muted hues. This tool can be used to dilute one color or to combine several colors. Unless your effect is designed for extremely wet water, you will need to move quickly with the water and have a paper towel on standby to wipe up any surplus water. If you wish to fill in a wider area, such as a shadow, or create unique colors, you may also use the pen paint to mix your own colors on a palette. If you don't want those colors to be further diluted by the waterbrush, use a standard brush instead. I chose to use the smaller-sized watercolor paper that is included in this package because I haven't painted in a while, and I'm finding that it is of really good quality. The fact that there is minimal cleanup and no brush washing is another wonderful aspect. I used to be an illustrator before becoming a computer graphic designer, so I've kind of lost my bearings and sense of what it's like to be creative on my own. However, moving forward, the brushes are alright so far and I find them convenient to use. When I first started using brushes, there was some hair coming out and I concerned that the brushes may lose it all. The other tools are useful, and the ink is decent. Given how gorgeous and genuine it is and how quickly it arrived, I was overjoyed when I opened it. However, I was devastated to see that one of the pieces is broken. When I went to return it, I was expecting to be given the option of a replacement, but all that was offered was a full refund. But I'm going to buy another one with the money I get back since I can't believe this set is only $19.99. The ONLY drawback is that when I came upon this, I also bought some calligraphy pens and a beginner's book to learn calligraphy. It didn't come with any instructions, so I have no idea how to operate it or what the different parts are. I suppose I'll figure it out when I get my replacement.
