A LOT of me crochets! I make gifts, but the majority of what I do is hats for homeless people, cancer patients, and NICU infants. I work with a variety of stitches and yarn weights. In other cases, if I'm listening to a very wonderful book, I can crochet for two or three hours every day.From the cheapest all-metal hook to the superior Boye hooks, I have tested every hook. My "must have" criteria for a good hook include an ergonomic handle, a smooth hook and shaft, and a hook that won't split my yarn on the forward or pull stroke (I mistakenly believed that only an in-line hook would work). These tapered hooks function amazingly well! Up until I used my first Clover Armour hook, my favorite hooks were my Boyes. The difference was immediately noticeable!The hook and shaft of the Clover Armours are not as shiny as the Boye or any other ergonomic hooks; however, that less-shiny metal slides through the yarn so smoothly and easily that the difference was immediately apparent. I'm not sure what they do to the hook and shaft (the metal parts) of these ergonomic hooks. a baby's bottom smooth!My yarns are not split by the hook (I exclusively use medium, light and sport weights). Additionally, the hook doesn't pull the yarn, "pop through," or need to be pulled. I am unable to return. EVER! The best crochet hooks!

I'll share a quick tale with you. I had a whole set of comfort grip hooks from another brand, and I thought they were outstanding.When I required a hook size that I hadn't packed while traveling, I went to the closest craft store but was unhappy to find that they didn't carry my brand. I decided that purchasing an Armour hook was preferable to forgoing my evening crochet/relaxation time. Amazing was the Armour hook. Old-fashioned yarn simply flowed over the hook like silk and passed through the stitches like a hot knife through butter. I was crocheting at a leisurely rate while watching TV because I was working on a piece that didn't require much thought. I was astounded to see how much had been accomplished when the news was over. I had crocheted at least as quickly as I do when I'm truly paying attention to what I'm doing.The only issue was that my once-valuable hook set seemed inferior when I came home. My movements became less fluid than they had been when using the Armour hook because I suddenly observed how the yarn was dragging along the hook. Because the stutter in my rhythm was vanished, there was a considerable speed improvement when I switched back to the Armour hook. Even though I've never been a speed demon, it was thrilling to discover that I could now accomplish more without exerting more effort. I thought I had discovered a magical hook. Purchasing the entire collection was the only option that made sense.The real review is as follows: These hooks will make you spoiled for all others. They hold like a pencil and are quite solid, and Clover's hook form is considerably more user-friendly than that of other brands. They provide an exceptionally smooth crocheting experience, making it simple to sew even challenging strands. I find that using these hooks allows me to crochet more rapidly and with less hand fatigue than I would have anticipated from previous experience. Simply put, I adore them.I'd want to obtain a few that are larger than 6mm. I recently completed a small project using thick yarn, and after briefly using the suggested hook size (in plastic), I chose to use my 6mm Armour and simply make more stitches to make up for the gauge mismatch. My Amour hooks are fantastic. I now possess all ten hooks in the standard set (B through J, plus the seventh), in addition to the sizes 7.0, K, L, M/N, and N/P of the "fat" hooks. I can't emphasize enough how much these hooks aid me because I have joint and muscular problems in my hands. Compared to other hooks I've tried (and I've tried a lot), I can crochet for hours faster and more effectively.I was worried when I first noticed the larger sizes for heavy yarns and the fact that the hooks are (gasp!) plastic. To test out a huge lap throw project, I requested the largest size, however... wow. The plastic isn't simply "plastic"; it's a tough, slippery, almost space-age material that has a high impact rate and easily slips through the yarn. It is just as high-quality and slick as the aluminum-tipped hooks I'm used to. The warm, comfortable feel that I enjoy from Amour is also there in the grips. For three years, I have been crocheting. I've experimented with a variety of hooks, including the affordable Boye and Susan Bates, the mid-range Crochet Guy, and the more expensive Addi, as well as elegant wooden hooks made of bamboo, rosewood, and other woods. The simplicity of crocheting using Clover Amour hooks is unmatched. I've been using Amour metal hooks solely for over a year now; the only sizes they offered were No. 2.25 to No. 6, with No. 6 being the largest. I wanted to try one before buying a set when I discovered they now have sizes 6.5 to 10 for thicker yarns. I choose to purchase the coveted No. 7 on the US market. The hook was constructed of plastic rather than its smaller aluminum counterparts, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I wasn't let down; in fact, a week later I ordered sizes 6.5, 8, and 9. The Amour hooks are in my opinion the smoothest, most comfortable, and best-shaped hooks on the market. Because I exclusively use yarn to crochet, I haven't tried the smaller steel Amour hooks.

As I was receiving treatment for a protracted illness, I wanted to strengthen my hands. I make jewelry out of wire, stone, and polymer clay as a hobby. Although I haven't used them all yet, it's helpful to have them on hand just in case. Rubber makes up the handle, making it non-slip, and a larger handle implies less hand fatigue. I presume the engraving is there so you can still see the size even when the printed numbers wore out. The sizes are carved onto the handle (not colored), and there are also printed size numbers on the opposite side (black). The metal yarn needle is gorgeous, too! When I picked up crocheting again, I realized that I needed some different hooks than I currently had, so I ordered a set with a case from Amazon. While there is nothing inherently wrong with such hooks, I wanted inline hooks, since the set only had offset hooks. The only inline hooks I could locate on Amazon were from the Susan Bates (SB) brand, so I bought two sets in various sizes.The SB hooks are described as being "polished for enhanced smoothness" in the description. That seemed a tad excessive to me. I thought that anodizing the hooks would merely make them all look the same. WRONG! I used the same yarn and one of these hooks as well as another hook. There is a difference, I must admit. The hook SET I bought separately from the SB hooks was not anodized, which is how the hooks get their various colors, whereas the SB hooks are. I'm not sure if the anodizing or the polishing is what makes the difference. But compared to the non-anodized hooks, the yarn does flow over the SB hook much more smoothly.When I need to buy something else in the future, I will without a doubt choose the SB hooks! Yarn handling is made considerably simpler by their inline design and VERY smooth hook.

These largely live up to their claims. I wasn't sure how tough the plastic would be; nevertheless, even with the typical seam found on plastic objects, it feels pretty pleasant in the hand and is not a hard, shiny, or slippery plastic. Although it is not silicone, it has a silicone-like feel. It is also not particularly soft or rubbery. The orange and pink hooks resemble day-glo colors, and the colors are more vibrant than they appear on television. Although I'm not yet sure if I like the thick handles to the all-metal, slender kind of hook, I still think they're a terrific purchase.

A wonderful deal may be found on this set of 14 aluminum crochet hooks. It would make a great travel pack or present for a beginner crocheter, in my opinion. Like the more expensive, name-brand hooks, they are made of attractively treated metal.These are not the inline-headed Susan Bates hooks (the hook is very sharp and not rounded and there is no narrowing at the hook.) These are the tapering, rounded Boyle-style hooks. Although I favor that design, some favor the inline hook. You can afford to purchase a set at this amount to choose which style you like best.The only drawback is that they are not designated with the letter or number sizes that are more typical in the US. Only the millimeter size is marked on them. One effective method is to use a Sharpie marker to mark the letter or number size on the hook and then cover it with transparent tape to protect it. On a little piece of white mailing label with an adhesive back, I directly marked the letter size. I then covered that with transparent tape. The chart converting millimeters to letters is shown below.
