Water bottles are good for birds because they provide a source of fresh water. Birds need water to stay hydrated and to maintain their body temperature. Water bottles also help keep birds clean and healthy.
Yes, a bird can drink too much water. If a bird drinks too much water, it can die.
Yes, you can give your bird cold water. In fact, many birds prefer cold water to room-temperature water. If you have a bird that is used to room-temperature water, you can slowly introduce cold water by mixing it with room-temperature water.
Yes, birds get thirsty. In fact, they need to drink water regularly to stay healthy. While some birds may get the majority of the water they need from the food they eat, they will still drink water when it is available.

My two budgies have been using this 16-ounce water supply bottle for 8 months now without any issues. After I tapped the ball valve with the tip of my finger to demonstrate how it works, the first bird quickly learned how to use it. One of my two birds can be seen in the pictures drinking right before bedtime.Even with infrequent, meaningless "extra drips," the 16 oz container has enough water for more than 28 days, which is something I particularly appreciate. I suddenly spent three days in the hospital last November shortly after installing it due to difficulties during surgery. My birds were secure and healthy when I eventually returned because I had made sure they would have food and water for an extended period of time. (This implied that even the volunteer who offered to check on them had nothing to do but do so.) Because of this, the product is well worth the price paid. You won't have any trouble mounting the item on the cage or crate if you read the directions and give it a test run.

Because I object to the thought of plastic molecules sloughing off into the water, I much prefer the glass bottles. I heard that this happens quickly, especially in the sun, so even changing the water every day won't stop plastic from getting into the water. The other major benefit of choosing glass versus plastic is that glass does not deteriorate over time (and has, with splits and breaking of my bottles for my birds). The product's mounting hardware is another advantage. This has a really strong, snug spring for the upper attachment and is very durable and practical. I particularly appreciate that the small floater that shows the water level is present.Every water bottle gives me the everyday worry that they would cease dispensing water because of, I guess, a stuck ball. I therefore check it every day by prodding the nozzle, just like my bird does when drinking, because I am a devoted carer. There have been no issues at all with this product so far.The only thing I have against this vendor is that a smaller bottle is not available. A 16 oz bottle would be heavier to handle and put on the cage than a smaller bottle would be—eight or twelve ounces would be nice—because I want to change the water for my lovebird relatively frequently.

CHEW PROOF: The Lixit glass water bottle is also chew-proof, keeping harmful plastic away from your animal
FOR POWERFUL PARROTS: This product is made for large birds such as parrot species like macaws and cockatoos, who notoriously crush tubes with their destructive beaks
EASY TO CLEAN: Lixit glass water bottles have a stainless steel drinking tube can be easily sanitized
DURABLE DESIGN: The Tuff Tube Water Bottle has a reinforced tip to stand up to large birds' forceful bite. The Tuff Tube resists damage caused by birds chewing on the tube, so their water bottle will last longer!
DID YOU KNOW: A large macaw has the bite strength of 500 to 700 pounds per square inch, which is close to that of a large dog bite!

In fact, I wish to rate 4.5 stars. Okay, it's my fault that I've shattered a few, but not when they were dropped on carpet. They are strong; I was just careless. In order to provide my rats lots of locations to get water (especially if they're being sluggish and don't want to run to the top half), I put 6 on my double critter nation. They don't drip or leak. My only complaint is that, like Kaytee bottles, I wish there was an indentation around the area where the holder could slide in to keep things a little bit steadier. (I've also had such, but they appear to leak.) Otherwise, they're fantastic!

I've used these in various sizes for parrots and sugar gliders for ten years, and I've never had a leaky issue. Since some people have said the issue is making sure the rubber washer is flat, I think it must be user error. Glass is what I use because it is homogeneous and sanitizes more successfully. The glass and the plastic head withstand being submerged in boiling, disinfectant-infused water.According to my usage of the device, the flexible metal wire intended to hold the bottle in place is the only element of the design that needs improvement. It works for the smaller bottle sizes of the same design, but if one uses a cage with more horizontal bars than vertical, the bottle will lean to the side due to its size and weight when full.Small to large birds and, of course, rodents like guinea pigs or big rats, can use this dispenser spout. It has enough volume to last a rabbit or chinchilla all day. Again, if a bottle leaks, make sure the rubber washer is flat and inserted firmly.
There is no one answer to this question as different birds prefer different temperatures of water. Some birds, such as penguins, enjoy swimming in cold water, while others, such as flamingos, prefer warmer water. Ultimately, it depends on the bird and what temperature of water they are most comfortable with.
There's no definitive answer to this question since different birds have different preferences. Some birds seem to enjoy bathing in tap water, while others prefer still or running water from a hose or faucet. Ultimately, it's up to the individual bird to decide what kind of water they like to bathe in.
Birds need sunlight to help them regulate their body temperature and to produce vitamin D. Sunlight also helps them to see better and to find food.
Birds do not need water in winter because they can obtain all the moisture they need from the food they eat. In fact, providing water for birds in winter can be more harmful than helpful because it can freeze and injure them. If you want to help birds in winter, the best thing you can do is provide them with a reliable source of food.
If you have a pet bird, you will need to provide it with water. The best way to do this is to put a water bottle in the cage. You will need to clean the water bottle regularly and refill it as needed. You can also put a bowl of water in the cage, but it is important to clean the bowl daily and refresh the water.
A bird bath should be filled enough so that the bird can get wet, but not so full that the bird can't get out.
