I've already tried installing it with a hitch lock, but it gives the bike rack way too much room to move about and swing. So, for now, the tension bolt will have to suffice.Last but not least, where the bike support arms mount to the upright, there is a little side to side play. Although I believe this section may have been constructed to be a little more firm and with less play, I don't believe breaking would be an issue.So those are the key observations I've made while using mine. I read both positive and negative reviews, and I got the impression that the negative reviews were written by consumers who had unreasonable expectations for a $70 bike rack. There are only factors to take into account to improve and secure your bikes more; I can't think of any "negative" aspects about this rack.It appears to be well-made, solid, and neither too light nor too hefty at first glance. We have 1 bike for men that has the typical horizontal cross member and 1 bike for ladies that doesn't. This came into play when I initially positioned the men's bike into place using the rubber straps and hung it. Then I raised my wife's bike, and as I continued a one-minute bicep curl, I discovered I couldn't suspend this bike from the horizontal bar like I could the men's bike, so I had to get creative and fasten it to the other bike with tie-down ratchet-type straps. Not the rack's fault, just keep in mind when buying that I would need to take into account roughly 4 ratchet straps to complete a solid, safe tow. I did, and the rack operated perfectly. I would view the rubber straps that were provided as a component of the solution, not the only option. Additionally, I wouldn't overextend the rubber tiedowns. Simply pull them until they stretch enough to clip over the stud. I didn't give a damn about the negative comments regarding the given hitch bolt and lock nut's compatibility with a normal hitch pin. I didn't need to take the rack off when traveling. Once the bikes have been unloaded, you can reach the back of the car's hatchback with complete clearance by temporarily removing a small pin that causes the bike rack to swing forward. Throughout the journey, both entering and exiting, I checked that main bolt and lock washer for any loosening, but it remained stationary.To get paid......It's a great deal. Simply remember the points mentioned above, and everything will be alright. Even though I only intended to transport 2 bikes, I still decided to get the 3 bike rack because it had a higher weight rating and an expanded bar for extra space. If the aforementioned seems too difficult, think about spending an extra $45 on Critical Cycles Lenox Hitch Mount Tray Rack 2 bike. With this design, the wheels of the bike sit firmly in or on trays, eliminating the problem with women's bikes.

My guess is that the Overdrive people (i.e. the Chinese) looked at the Thule rack and said, "We can copy this and sell it for 1/3 the cost," and they did, and I bought one. One of my riding partners has the Thule Pro XT rack for his electric bike, and this Overdrive rack is similar and equally as heavy duty as the Thule.The rack is unassembled and weighs roughly 50 lbs. It comes in a package with simple-to-follow assembly instructions. Assembling the rack is also covered in a man and his wife's uTube video, which I viewed before unpacking the package and arranging the parts as the man in the video did. In less than 30 minutes, I had the rack put together and placed in my hitch.I've used the rack numerous times now, even on a rough road back into the woods and a 150-mile round trip at 70 mph on the highway, and neither the rack nor the bikes have ever given me any trouble. The only aspect of the tire holders that bothers me is their narrow width of slightly more than 5 inches, but the widest balloon tire I have ever seen is 4 inches wide.

There is nothing holding it to your car (to deter theft), so keep it inside when you go for a bike ride rather than leaving it there. When you get back from your ride, all you have to do is take it out of there and mount it. I wouldn't even bother folding it back up.Once I took it out of the box and unfolded it, it was quite simple to mount to both of my cars—a 4-door sedan and an SUV. To prevent the front wheel from spinning and scratching your vehicle, you must fasten it to the mount using either a bungie cord or the excess from the bottom strap of the mount because the top tube of my bike is slanted rather than horizontal. I had to mount it in the tie-downs using the top and down tubes. Once the bike was fastened to the tie-downs, I discovered that I could raise it a little bit away from the mount, so I used a bungee rope to snugly fasten it to the mount so it won't bounce as I drive through difficult terrain. I found a three-pack of bungee at the dollar shop that worked in lengths s, m, and l.Folding It: Up till now, the only problem I've had with it is when I try to fold it back up. Sometimes I have to push the buttons pretty firmly to get them through the slots so I can fold the arms. really noticeable thumbs. Excellent product overall.May 15: P.S. Ensure that the upper feet are parallel to one another. When I didn't do that once, the object appeared to be falling downward, but it wasn't. The mount had a label on the back that I can read in my SUV's rearview mirror and it didn't move the entire time I was driving (including through some wild bumps and difficult roads), which convinced me that the mount was fully and properly secured. However, seeing one pad slanted lower than the other still made me uncomfortable, especially when I got on the road and wanted to travel at least 65 mph. I was overjoyed to see my driveway, but as I pulled up with you, it hardly moved at all. Good product once more.
