This bike rack is excellent. It appears to be rather durable because it easily handles our two bikes. I've recently used it to drive both main roads and minor roads while on a trip to ride some trails on the Cape. It moves smoothly with little rocking or jolting. Both the fold-up and fold-down features are appealing to me. I had Thule racks for transporting kayaks, but I didn't care for the design of the Thule rack when it comes to hauling bikes. Instead of carrying your bikes on the rack, you hang them. This, in my opinion, leads to greater rubbing and shaking and increases the risk of further harm to your bicycle. I looked at a lot of other racks, and this one was ideal. Additionally, it cost substantially less than the popular Thule or Yakima racks. For anyone searching for a hitch-style rack, this is a terrific find.

I own two Yakima adapters, but I have to admit that I prefer this one a lot more. The hangers open out rather than up or down, which is better for the little parts as it sits on the rack with the downward pressure of the bike, and the push pins are simpler to insert with your fingers. Although the shaft's spring is a wonderful feature, there is no way of knowing how long it will last given normal wear and tear. We've probably used this five times already, on trips that lasted an hour or more, and it's worked out beautifully! initially purchased for the child's bike (16) "Do not take advice from others; it will not fit as intended (from seat post to handle bar post). The handle bars, though, are where we managed to secure it, so hopefully your child's bike has that.

I used this product for a while before writing my review since I wanted to be able to advise customers on whether they should buy this before wasting their hard-earned money. Here is how I'm utilizing the bike rack to begin with. We typically only go about 10 miles to the location where we ride because I have it mounted to the hitch of my pickup truck.Here are some advantages.I paid a relatively low price for the 4-bike deluxe rack. I bought it for $68.00, and since then, the price has increased by doubling. Don't pay more than $68 for it, in my opinion, as the price will drop again. I've lately witnessed this.I only put it on the truck when I needed it, so I cannot say how it would keep up over time in the weather, despite the fact that it is quite firmly constructed. It is clear that this is composed of substantial steel because of its weight, which should increase its durability.It is possible to use the bike rack with a ladies frame style bike without purchasing an additional support bar since the padded cradles that the bike frame rests in revolve 360 degrees to accommodate these frames.It uses a tension bolt (bolt and nut) to stop the rattle rather than a locking pin to secure it to the receiver. The mounting system has both benefits and drawbacks. The advantage is that it effectively prevents the bike rack from rattling inside the hitch.The bike frame support arms can be folded down to create a considerably lower profile for storage when it is removed or to reduce the amount of space it takes up when it is fastened to the vehicle.The bikes have been kept secure thus far by the straps and buckles. Not so that the bikes will fall off, but rather to stop everything from banging against each other and scratching up all of your bikes. In addition, without bungee straps, the bottoms of the motorcycles swing front to rear when starting and stopping.No matter how neatly you mount things, you will still get some scratches because the pedals and handle bars protrude and the objects are near together. There's no avoiding that.In my perspective, the pivot feature is worthless when bikes are mounted. If you had to open the hatchback of an SUV-style car to drop the rack with four bikes mounted, it would be way too heavy. (However, perhaps it shouldn't be lowered with bikes mounted.) Although I haven't tested it, it would have to be quite heavy, and I'm not even sure it would be able to fall down far enough with bikes mounted to pass through an SUV door. I have a truck, so I have no worries.The tension bolt's disadvantage is that, unlike a hitch lock, it takes longer to remove. It is an aircraft-style locking nut, thus you need two tools to remove it from both sides. Additionally, I suppose someone could steal your rack if they took the effort to unbolt it. I've already tried installing it with a hitch lock, but it gives the bike rack way too much room to move about and swing. So, for now, the tension bolt will have to suffice.Last but not least, where the bike support arms mount to the upright, there is a little side to side play. Although I believe this section may have been constructed to be a little more firm and with less play, I don't believe breaking would be an issue.So those are the key observations I've made while using mine. I can think of a few minor ways to make this sort of rack better, but I'm not sure how you might significantly do so. Take a look at the review before deciding if it's for you.

We made the last-minute decision to drive the Escalade's back with our two bikes to Tahoe for five days. Never owned one and couldn't borrow one, so I bought one on Amazon. I read both positive and negative reviews, and I got the impression that the negative reviews were written by consumers who had unreasonable expectations for a $70 bike rack. There are only factors to take into account to improve and secure your bikes more; I can't think of any "negative" aspects about this rack.It appears to be well-made, solid, and neither too light nor too hefty at first glance. We have 1 bike for men that has the typical horizontal cross member and 1 bike for ladies that doesn't. This came into play when I initially positioned the men's bike into place using the rubber straps and hung it. Then I raised my wife's bike, and as I continued a one-minute bicep curl, I discovered I couldn't suspend this bike from the horizontal bar like I could the men's bike, so I had to get creative and fasten it to the other bike with tie-down ratchet-type straps. Not the rack's fault, just keep in mind when buying that I would need to take into account roughly 4 ratchet straps to complete a solid, safe tow. I did, and the rack operated perfectly. I would view the rubber straps that were provided as a component of the solution, not the only option. Additionally, I wouldn't overextend the rubber tiedowns. Simply pull them until they stretch enough to clip over the stud. I didn't give a damn about the negative comments regarding the given hitch bolt and lock nut's compatibility with a normal hitch pin. I didn't need to take the rack off when traveling. Once the bikes have been unloaded, you can reach the back of the car's hatchback with complete clearance by temporarily removing a small pin that causes the bike rack to swing forward. Throughout the journey, both entering and exiting, I checked that main bolt and lock washer for any loosening, but it remained stationary.To get paid......It's a great deal. Simply remember the points mentioned above, and everything will be alright. Even though I only intended to transport 2 bikes, I still decided to get the 3 bike rack because it had a higher weight rating and an expanded bar for extra space. If the aforementioned seems too difficult, think about spending an extra $45 on Critical Cycles Lenox Hitch Mount Tray Rack 2 bike. With this design, the wheels of the bike sit firmly in or on trays, eliminating the problem with women's bikes.

You can't really believe the negative reviews of this product because they are simply mistreating it to the utmost. Really, broken straps? Or really bicycles falling over? 1: They are pulling far too hard, which is the reason why they even have damaged straps. Bicycles falling off, poor installation. Simply use common judgment when installing both this device and your bicycles. If you are rational, this product will benefit you. Simply apply electrical tape to the two hooks that attach to the trunk for improved grip, and make sure the straps are tight enough to prevent the rack from being loose or moving up and down. Whoever says otherwise has to replace the rack or their bike because the pedals don't even touch my rear bumper. I have two fixed gear single speed bikes, so I can go above and beyond with my review. No issues were encountered after a brief drive. Additionally, I have a good feeling that this product can travel farther. Again, just exercise caution, don't abuse this product, and be sensible.

Most bike racks can't handle my 70 kilogram electric bike, especially if I want to place two more electric bikes on the rack. Although the Thule T2 ProXT is a stunning bike rack and the benchmark by which all heavy duty electric bike racks are measured, at close to $600, it was out of my price range. My guess is that the Overdrive people (i.e. the Chinese) looked at the Thule rack and said, "We can copy this and sell it for 1/3 the cost," and they did, and I bought one. One of my riding partners has the Thule Pro XT rack for his electric bike, and this Overdrive rack is similar and equally as heavy duty as the Thule.The rack is unassembled and weighs roughly 50 lbs. It comes in a package with simple-to-follow assembly instructions. Assembling the rack is also covered in a man and his wife's uTube video, which I viewed before unpacking the package and arranging the parts as the man in the video did. In less than 30 minutes, I had the rack put together and placed in my hitch.I've used the rack numerous times now, even on a rough road back into the woods and a 150-mile round trip at 70 mph on the highway, and neither the rack nor the bikes have ever given me any trouble. The only aspect of the tire holders that bothers me is their narrow width of slightly more than 5 inches, but the widest balloon tire I have ever seen is 4 inches wide.

Proper Fit: I haven't been on a bike in over 17 years, but I wanted to get in shape and lose some weight, so I started bicycling and walking. I needed a bike mount to transport my bike to the riding trails, so after reading all the reviews on Amazon and the Walmart website, I chose to purchase this one. Although Amazon's fit check was accurate, you should still double-check by visiting http://allensportsusa.com/fit-list/.Don't Ride With It on Your Back: When folded, it was heavier than I had anticipated, but I don't think it's a problem unless you plan to tote it around for some reason. The woman is shown riding on it on her back in the movie demonstrating how to utilize the mount. I don't get why you would want to do that instead of simply leaving it in your car; the storage bag it comes with is not padded and has drawstrings, which, in my opinion, would get very uncomfortable on your back the longer you ride. There is nothing holding it to your car (to deter theft), so keep it inside when you go for a bike ride rather than leaving it there. When you get back from your ride, all you have to do is take it out of there and mount it. I wouldn't even bother folding it back up.Once I took it out of the box and unfolded it, it was quite simple to mount to both of my cars—a 4-door sedan and an SUV. To prevent the front wheel from spinning and scratching your vehicle, you must fasten it to the mount using either a bungie cord or the excess from the bottom strap of the mount because the top tube of my bike is slanted rather than horizontal. I had to mount it in the tie-downs using the top and down tubes. Once the bike was fastened to the tie-downs, I discovered that I could raise it a little bit away from the mount, so I used a bungee rope to snugly fasten it to the mount so it won't bounce as I drive through difficult terrain. I found a three-pack of bungee at the dollar shop that worked in lengths s, m, and l.Folding It: Up till now, the only problem I've had with it is when I try to fold it back up. Sometimes I have to push the buttons pretty firmly to get them through the slots so I can fold the arms. really noticeable thumbs. Excellent product overall.May 15: P.S. Ensure that the upper feet are parallel to one another. When I didn't do that once, the object appeared to be falling downward, but it wasn't. The mount had a label on the back that I can read in my SUV's rearview mirror and it didn't move the entire time I was driving (including through some wild bumps and difficult roads), which convinced me that the mount was fully and properly secured. However, seeing one pad slanted lower than the other still made me uncomfortable, especially when I got on the road and wanted to travel at least 65 mph. I was overjoyed to see my driveway, but as I pulled up with you, it hardly moved at all. Good product once more.

These fit my 2003 4 door Blazer perfectly. It works. We have an Ascend FS10 and a Future Beach Fusion 10 kayak. Some claim that it is challenging. Do not be terrified by them. You'll be able to put these together and mount them on your automobile if you can build a small Lego set for kids ages 10 and up.Times for everything, assuming only one person is doing the work and you're utilizing all four J-bars for two kayaks:-First time installation and assembly to the roof: one hour-First time loading two kayaks: 30 minutes (to figure out how you wanna strap them)-5 minutes for unloading two kayaks-Reloading two kayaks takes about 10 minutes.-10 minutes to remove the J-bars from the rack.-Adding the J-bars to the rack again takes 10 minutes.They can be removed from the roof without needing to be completely disassembled, which explains why removal and reinstallation go so quickly. They are very robust. I loaded and secured my kayaks before shaking them and observing the crossbars of my roof sway. The kayak and the J-bars saw ZERO play.The bad: I didn't have faith in the cam straps. I loaded the kayaks, secured them with the straps, and then I was able to unfasten the straps by shaking the kayaks. I can't with good conscience deduct a rating because of how much more expensive brand-name J-hooks are compared to how inexpensive trustworthy straps are. Although you should get better straps, this product is still rated 5 out of 5 stars for the price. Although I use an inexpensive tow strap that was laying around in my garage, I wouldn't recommend it because tow straps have been known to distort plastic kayaks. The last few times I went out, I utilized tow straps, but this season, I'm going to spend $15 on a better set of cam straps.EDIT TO ADD LINK TO REPLACEMENT STRAPS: I used these straps in place of the ones that came with this product.
