There is a lot of debate surrounding battery chargers and whether or not higher amps are actually better. Some argue that higher amps mean a faster charge, which is better for the battery in the long run. Others say that it doesn't make a difference and that lower amps are just fine. Ultimately, it's up to the user to decide what they think is best for their battery.
A battery charger that is too powerful can cause damage to the battery. It can overcharge the battery, which can lead to the battery exploding.
If you use a charger that is not made specifically for your device, it could damage your battery. The wrong charger could overcharge your battery, which could lead to the battery expanding and potentially bursting. A charger with the wrong voltage could also overheat your battery, causing it to catch fire.
Yes, you can over charge a 12 volt battery. This can happen if the charging system is not functioning properly, or if the battery is left connected to the charger for too long. When this happens, the battery can be damaged and may not work properly.

I was delighted to discover this very clever invention because I needed an adapter for a GoPro camera. When the winters become too long or I am unable to ride, I use a Battery Tender on my motorcycle to keep the battery charged. In order to have constant power and shoot video for extended periods of time while riding, I wanted to plug my GoPro into my power source. My wish was granted when I used this USB Quick Disconnect from Battery Tender. It was simple to connect the USB Adapter to the cable that was already exposed because I had a power supply flowing to the outside of my bike to plug in the Battery Tender. From there, I could easily connect my USB cable to my camera. It's a fantastic idea that I've been using for about a year with my phone and other USB-capable gadgets. You may simply unplug the adapter if you need to take it apart or store it. It's a fantastic device for anyone who currently uses a battery tender and only requires a little amount of USB power while traveling.

It's the commonplace Battery Tender Jr. made by Deltran. There are many float chargers in the market that advertise as "battery tenders," but the actual product name is "Battery Tender Jr." They also offer other Battery Tender goods, such as ones with larger charging outputs and ones with more outlets for charging multiple batteries. But first, let's review the fundamentals: what is a float charger and why is it required?Lead-acid batteries, such as those found in automobiles and motorcycles, gradually lose some of their charge even when they aren't even attached to anything. That loss of charge happens significantly more quickly when a bike is left running with a clock or radio memory circuit that continuously consumes power even when the bike is off.Lead-acid batteries "enjoy" to always have a full charge. A battery that is kept fully charged will function better for a much longer period of time than one that is left sitting with a lower charge. My motorcycle batteries used to last between one and two years before they needed to be replaced, so I used to go through a lot of batteries. This becomes pricey when using many motorcycles, not to mention additional battery-powered devices like a generator, snow blower, etc.In order to maintain my primary GL1100 battery completely charged, I decided to attach a trickle (float) charger to it. I spent less than $10 at Harbor Freight on an inexpensive trickle charger. It was connected to the battery, and I left it there all night. To my complete amazement, the battery went dead the following day. The inexpensive trickle charger overheated the battery, killing it, and had no intelligence or method to shut off when the battery was fully charged. I could fully charge it, but because of its sulfated plates, it was no longer able to generate enough current to start the bike. This costly lesson made me aware of the dubious economics of Harbor Freight float chargers! As a result, I tried the Battery Tender Jr. with some hesitance because I didn't want to spend another $100 on a new battery. The devices from Battery Tender are different because they are intelligent; inside, they include computers that evaluate the battery's level of charge and modify their output (in Initialization, Bulk Charge Mode, Absorption Mode, and Float Mode) accordingly. The end result: Five years later, I'm still using that battery, and it still functions flawlessly. I was so thrilled that I went out and purchased more; as a result, I now have five Battery Tender Jr.s that are constantly linked to all of my bikes and gadgets. I always plug my bike in when I park it. Since I started using Battery Tenders five years ago, I have not had a single battery go bad, and every battery still works like it is brand new.A 12 foot cord and a plug are included with the Battery Tender Jr. This plug then fastens to one of the two connections that are provided: a set of alligator clips for momentary battery attachment or a set of ring terminals for long-term battery attachment. I connect the connector using the ring terminals, then feed the other end up through the bike into a secret location. The connector is concealed beneath the right passenger footpeg of my wife's PC800. It is concealed in the left passenger compartment of my GL1500. Simply flipping open the cubby and plugging in the Battery Tender when I park the bike assures me that the battery is safeguarded and maintained. The Battery Tender is made to be virtually unbreakable. Nothing will happen if you connect it to the battery backwards. It simply turns itself off, so starting the bike with it connected is not an issue. It boasts a spark-proof design with a flashing, color-changing indicator light that lets you know how your battery is performing and how it is being managed. I haven't had to use the five-year warranty that comes with it.Both AGM (absorption glass mat) batteries and common flooded wet-cell lead-acid batteries perform admirably when used with the Battery Tender. There is a separate version that has programming to work correctly with gel-cell batteries if you have them.Additionally, you may now purchase attachments that connect to the Battery Tender's vehicle-side connector when it is not in use. These include 12 volt cigarette lighter-style power connectors and USB charging outputs so you may connect your electronic devices to your car. Here is further information on these accessories: USB Charger and 12 volt Socket for Battery TenderOverall, this is one of my favorite items; it works really well, maintains the health of your batteries, and costs a fraction of what a single new battery would. I can't say enough good things about them.

Deltran hits another home run! I've been extremely happy utilizing float charges under the Battery Tender brand for a long time. I'm not sure everyone is aware of the intended use of these chargers, based on some of the reviews and questions that have been submitted. This is not intended to be used as a primary charger to revive a dead battery. This is done to keep a battery charged while a car or piece of equipment is sitting idle. It won't overcharge the battery and can remain plugged in constantly. I use this same one on my utility trailer, which has a winch and interior illumination powered by an on-board deep-cycle battery. I rely on the Battery Tender to maintain the battery at its highest charge when the trailer is not in use. I chose this moisture-resistant device because the trailer would be parked outside. The short response is "no" when people inquire about if it is waterproof. It is weather-resistant (my unit has been outside for almost 18 months) and has an international protection marking of IP67 (6 = Dust tight and 7 = Protected against immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes). However, it would not be wise to leave it in an environment where it is constantly wet or submerged. Both a harness with ring terminals for long-term attachment and a harness with standard alligator clamps are included with the charger. The harness is especially useful if the battery is difficult to access because, once placed, it stays with the car and requires only that the charger be plugged into it. I heartily endorse these chargers.

I purchased this to replace a cheap charger from Harbor Freight that I used for a year before it broke. If it lasts for two years, I will be ahead because this was on sale for around two times that much. I set it up on three batteries, a motorcycle, a scooter, and a backup car battery. Each quickly charged. The car took longer and came close, but not quite, to 13 volts. In fact, the two smaller batteries reached 13 volts. I'm not an expert in batteries, but I've discovered that if you charge them slowly, they last longer. To check how long the charge lasts, I have it off the batteries right now. For jump starts, use the automobile battery. I discovered that maintaining an old battery and charging it eliminates the need to purchase a pricey car jump box item. My old battery was still in decent condition from the last time I purchased a new one. I lost the $10 exchange charge by not returning it, but for $10 I now have a backup jump starter that I can use with my current jumper wires. If anything changes, I'll update this post. For the price, I'm happy. It just has a few little lights, but they are pricey and do not help.

The charger performs as claimed. The battery must be free of any latent surface charge, as with any charger, in order for the charger to read an accurate voltage. I discovered that this charger accurately read battery charge. When you rejoin after disconnecting and find that it was at, let's say, 70% while charging, it is the surface charge. Before connecting the charger a second time, turn on your headlamp for 30 seconds to ensure an accurate reading.

To maintain my 1974 Honda CB360 battery, I connected my cheap float charger. I made the mistake of forgetting to plug in the charger. Not only is the battery dead three months later, but two of the cells are bone-dry. I added distilled water to bring the liquid level of the 12Amp "flooded wet cell" to the middle of the lines at the top. I connected a Fluke voltmeter and saw 3 volts; that's not good; a new battery should be around 50 volts. I pondered my G3500 V2 and asked myself, "Why not?" To my astonishment, it began to charge. It took a very long time—roughly 14 hours on low—to do so. I then sped up "repair" till a green light (about 4 hours). I worked extremely hard since some cells had "condensed solids" at the bottom of them. For three days, I steadily switched between repair and low charge as the bubbles grew, the solids broke down, and the bottom became transparent. I was in awe. If so, would the charge last at least a week? Would it begin the lengthy sitting cycle? Both are yes! Sincerity be told, I was almost ready to simply get a new battery. If it weren't for the fact that my vintage 74 bike has a "kick starter," I probably would. I'm thrilled with what the G3500 V2 accomplished. We would appreciate a "this was helpful" click.

I prefer using this tiny charger to maintain the battery on my inverter generator. Inaction has forced the need to replace the battery.I rarely use the generator; when I do, it is infrequent, which is why I chose to purchase the continuous charger. Some reviewers' claims that their batteries were overcharged worried me a little.Rechargeable batteries for my tools had previously caused me to experience that. The only thing I can advise is to connect everything that needs to be charged and use a timer in conjunction with a power strip outlet. For instance, I set the timer for my equipment to run for 4 hours each day. If the batteries aren't getting drained, it makes little sense to run the chargers continuously.I also linked this battery charger to the timer in light of that experience. The gadget is quite simple and, hopefully, performs similarly to the overpriced Battery Tender brand.I recently inserted a new battery in the generator, and after 30 minutes of charging (red light), the light changed to green (battery maintenance).Time will tell, and I'll update this review if anything goes wrong. Please find the box and instruction manual photographs attached. Please include images of the manuals and boxes when you do reviews when information is printed on them for the benefit of readers. We can all benefit if we can learn more about the products.

Our battery was saved by this tiny charger, and because modern "smarter" cars have built-in "computers," they are always on. The battery in your automobile can deplete if you don't drive it frequently. Our Audi Q5's battery suffered from this; it was used infrequently and sat idle in the garage for the majority of the winter. It took a whole day and a half to fully recharge an almost completely depleted battery using this charger. The device is made to be simple to use, and the status LEDs serve as an accurate indicator of how much battery life is remaining. We would have paid roughly $230 plus installation for a new battery (update car computer system). Great, reasonably priced tool to have on hand; would definitely recommend and purchase again.
If your car battery is dead, you can try charging it with a battery charger. If that doesn't work, you can try jump starting your car.
If your car battery has been dead for less than a week, you may be able to recharge it and get it working again. However, if it has been dead for longer than a week, it is likely that the battery has suffered too much damage to be recharged. In this case, you will need to replace the battery.
How long can a car battery sit unused? A car battery can sit unused for a few months without issue, but anything longer than that and it will likely need to be replaced. Over time, the chemicals inside the battery will break down and it will no longer be able to hold a charge. If you know you won't be using your car for a while, it's best to disconnect the battery so it doesn't drain.
A 12 volt car battery should be charged for about 10-12 hours.
It's better to charge a battery at 10 amps. The reason is that it'll charge the battery faster and the battery will last longer.
Most people have more than one device that needs to be charged on a daily basis. A battery charger is a great way to keep all of your devices charged and ready to go. A battery charger is a worth investment because it will save you time and money in the long run.
