I looked in approximately five auto parts stores and Walley World for an in-line circuit breaker for my trolling motor, but I was unsuccessful. I was very relieved to discover this because the ones I did locate, which I would have to tweak to make work, were about four times as expensive. I am so grateful for Amazon. This is far superior to a fuse because I no longer need to carry extra fuses for my trolling motor; all I have to do is flip the switch, and I'm back on the water. By using dead shorts between 12V to 16V lithium battery packs, which can push well in excess of 6A, and the lesser amperage ones, 5A and 6A, I gave them a go. Both wouldn't fall. The rest must be the same, I suppose. Inspection of the interior of one reveals that they do, in fact, function, but it takes a lot of heat to activate them, earning them only 4 stars. I would have burnt up most of what I would have been using these for before they tripped.

For the price, it's a great little circuit breaker. I substituted it for the stock fuse that was included with my winch. Because I abuse my winch when I use it, the factory fuse would allow it to become so hot that it would not turn off. Now that I have it installed, I am no longer concerned because it pops up when it should. This small breaker goes right up to the breaking point before tripping; I'm not even talking about it popping early. This accomplishes what it promises to. I use this as additional security for my 1000 watt inverter's in-line automatic transfer switch on my RV. Works well. For instance, if I plug in my old electric coffee maker, it brews around 6 full cups before the breaker trips. However, if I run the television and outlets that use very minimal power, the breaker never trips. Since it is temperature sensitive, if it becomes warm from using a coffee maker for too long (10 minutes), it will trip the breaker before the wires become warm. After cooling for a few minutes, it can be reset. It will prevent a fire hazard for my needs of charging small appliances and cell phones, and it is resettable at a reasonable price, making it a nice purchase. Now, if only the hot plate on the coffee maker is turned on to keep the coffee warm after 6 cups, it will continue to function and not trip the breaker.
