This kit was recently purchased for my 1953 M38A1. The Jeep has never ran better, and installation was simple.I would advise every M38A1 Jeep owner to purchase this device. Definitely superior to the outdated points and condenser!I'm grateful that PerTronix made this device and that Amazon sold it to me. The customer support at Amazon is fantastic!

For a stern drive with a 153 Chevy 4 engine (120 Mercruiser), I ordered this ignition replacement. I had trouble starting, weak spark in the cylinders, and backfiring via the carburetor before I installed it. I have a Mallory distributor replacement with the breaker points system. Because I didn't want to buy specialized tools or deal with adjusting points, I chose the Pertronix replacement. I decided to use modern technologies because they were already rather worn.My boat now runs like new thanks to this component. Starts right up, doesn't backfire, and has excellent throttle responsiveness. Being maintenance-free is a big plus. A note to DIYers: after installation, I did need to alter the time because the unit advanced my timing by 8 degrees. Additionally, it can be difficult to properly install the plate because the nuts are located below the cap clamps and the screws securing it to the distributor body are also holding them. Still simple to install; just take your time.

I slipped while leaning against my car's firewall, and the Blaster SS supported the majority of my weight. That split in half two of the original (and around five-year-old) mounts. It was therefore convenient to have these act as exact substitutes. They are also glossy and attractive once more because they include all of the screws and washers that MSD originally included with the coil.

Because I was sick of dealing with the points on my 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe, I bought this. The Pertronix 40501 flame thrower and the Pertronix 2563LS solid state ignition made an excellent pair. The timing does not leap at all, and installation took only approximately 30 minutes for both parties. My automobile has a vacuum advance, just as an aside. I had to determine which one was for my DISTRIBUTOR by looking through the web catalogue.
3.6/5
Easily installed with just hand tools
Stabilizes ignition timing from 1 to 10,000 RPM
Put an end to high maintenance point ignitions
Never have to change points again

INSTALLED WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. ONLY BECAUSE MY DISTRIBUTOR HAS THE TACH DRIVE WAS DISTRIBUTOR REMOVAL NEEDED IN THIS CASE. A distributor without a TACH drive won't need to be removed for installation, in my opinion. A PERSONAL CALL WOULD BE NEEDED FOR THAT. END OF POINTS. I WISH I'D DONE THIS TWENTY YEARS AGO. I DID CHANGE THE COIL AND USED THE ACCELL COIL AS RECOMMENDED. APART FROM THE EXTRA WIRES, THE SYSTEM AFTER CHANGING LOOKED MORE LIKE THE ORIGINAL THAN OTHER AFTERMARKET IGNITION SYSTEMS. DOES A LOT BETTER JOB.
