I had this part next to the Mercedes Branded and Box part. Except for the labels, they are the same (and part of the labeling is the same as the Mercedes branded one still has the Mann logo and part number too). Because Mann produces both the filter for Mercedes and this filter under their own name, they are identical. They truly are interchangeable.These Mann HU 718/5 are the genuine OEM part and have a lovely, sturdy construction. The Mann HU 718/5 part number is located next to the Mercedes part number on the OEM Mercedes-Genuine component. The Mercedes-Benz star emblem, Mercedes part number, and Mercedes-Benz box are the only things that are absent from this filter. Because it has a 17 mm hex head on the end for simple removal, I purchased this filter for my Fat Boy, and I'm glad I did. I didn't have an oil filter tool that fit when it came time to remove the factory HD filter. Yes, I have two filter removal tools. One slips over the end like a socket on a nut and the other grips the can with a canvas strap, however neither one suits a Harley due to the precise tolerances. There is no room to maneuver because the HD oil filter is crammed up against the motor with only a quarter-inch of clearance. My HD filter needed holes drilled in it so I could turn it with a screwdriver. Oil naturally spread everywhere. Harley wants you to purchase their oil filter gadget, but I'm not having it. The hex head nut design on the filter's end is brilliant. I'm looking forward to using it the next time I change my oil because it makes it possible to remove the oil filter using a ratchet and socket.

For my commercial zero turn with a Kawasaki FX 600v, I bought two of these filters, and they came in the Kawasaki box and with the sticker on the filter exactly as seen in the picture. My original engine factory filter, however, was stamped with the words Kawasaki and 49065-7007 rather than having a sticker. It reads USA made and Kawasaki on the sticker, and it came in the Kawasaki box, so I assume this filter is an OEM filter. I am not overly concerned because it appears to be an OEM filter from what I can tell, but I am aware that anything less than the OEM filter's 25/30 micron filter media won't filter the oil to factory specifications. If I had received anything different, I would do exactly what some other people have done and send it back. This is a well-liked tiny engine filter, and if you look around online, you may find them for even less money that are authentic Kawasaki OEM parts.Soon after making this purchase, I discovered an online professional commercial mower and engine supplier for my blades, belts, and everything else related to my mower. This supplier only sells OEM, or else it is clearly stated on the website that this part, filter, or whatever the item, is not OEM, and if it is not even their OEM replacement items are of acceptable or equivalent quality and at a significantly reduced price. I simply ordered a mulch kit and replacement blades and specified OEM. The genuine OEM Kawasaki filter 49065-7007 costs 5.99 at the time of writing and 5.45 in bulk of 12 or more, according to their check, and they only sell OEM for the parts I purchased, therefore I placed my order from them. For the commercial guys, that's a bargain. If the filter you receive is the same as the one displayed, it looks and seems to be OEM, as far as I can tell. I had no issues with this filter, and if I ever had another need, I would definitely get it again. The OEM Kawasaki filter purchased from the professional parts company also includes a sticker and is identical to this one in appearance. I'm not sure why, but the factory OEM Kawasaki filter that arrived with my brand-new lawnmower had printing on it rather than a sticker. I'm hoping the filters with the stickers are genuine OEM. Hmmmm! I might need to look into that. Anyhow.... I uploaded pictures of what I received, so I'm not concerned. Since I replace my oil and filters far more frequently than the advised time, I am completely confident in their capacity to filter. Therefore, even if I later discovered that the filters had stickers instead of printing, I would still refuse to give them back. Since I prefer the Kawasaki OEM over them, I just wouldn't buy them again.

The effectiveness of this filter in comparison to a conventional filter is not something I can comment on, but it was a flawless direct OE replacement for my 2013 CBR250R. The components appear to be comparable to others.A few suggestions for those motorbike DIYers who are reading this1) Take your time removing the filter cover because it has a spring inside to maintain a tight fit. Don't let that slip away.2) AVOID overtightening the four screws holding the oil filter cover to the frame. They strip with ease.3) Avoid adding too much oil (as with any engine). Make careful you check the oil level after letting the bike run for a minute without the side stand and with the bike upright.There is a decent article about this in the CBR250R forum.
