Yes, you can paint a muffler with high heat paint. This type of paint is designed to withstand high temperatures, making it ideal for use on a muffler. When painting a muffler with high heat paint, be sure to follow the instructions on the paint can for best results.
In general, you should not use high heat paint on a car. High heat paint is designed for use on surfaces that will be exposed to high temperatures, such as engines and exhaust systems. These paints can withstand temperatures of up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. However, car paint is not designed to withstand these high temperatures and will start to fade and peel at around 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
No, you don't need to cure high heat paint. It will cure on its own over time.
If you are painting an engine that will be exposed to high temperatures, you will need to use a high temp engine paint. This type of paint can withstand temperatures up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. You will also need to use a primer with this type of paint to ensure that it adheres to the surface.

I'm not huge on vehicle mods. I'm also not not that handy when it comes to autos, so the notion of doing anything that required the brakes on my car worried me quite a bit. I watched many tutorials on how to paint calipers to become acquainted with the process and make sure I knew what I was doing. I also looked at the various possibilities (spray paint vs. brush painting) as well as reading reviews on the various products and manufacturers. In the end, it felt that G2 was the best fit for me and I'm extremely glad I made the decision.I selected to paint the calipers on my new Audi A6 during a run of days in January that averaged in the upper 50's and low 60's. Even the brand warns that you should only apply the paint between 56 and 70 degrees F. Given I was in the ideal temperature zone, I dove right in!Given my car was brand new (2017), I didn't need to spend a considerable amount of time to clean the calipers as they were already very clean. I did, however, focus on taping and masking off the areas of the wheel that must not/cannot be painted. I also got artists brushes that work with enamel paints. I did read that the brush that comes with the kit can shed. I honestly didn't see that, but never gave it the chance and used my brushes regardless.I was able to add four coats of paint to my calipers. The first coat took some time and was a light coat. The last coat gave it a final, smooth finish. I picked black to match the black-out look I was looking for with my A6.I didn't have any difficulty applying the paint. There were moments when loaded too much paint on the brush and it dripped, but I was able to repair it simply. I waited at least 15 minutes between jackets. Truth be told, I purchased two kits. It was impossible for me to hoist my vehicle up on four jack stands, so I was only able to raise one wheel up at a time. I would paint one caliper, let it sit for 2 hours, then put the wheel on and continue to the next wheel. I have heard that some individuals have successfully cut the paint and the hardening agent in half to save for later. I didn't opt to do that as I feared I'd not have the correct amount of hardener to paint and eventually the paint would fail. Once all four wheels were ready, I waited two days to cure. G2 advises wait 24 hours, however the temperature in my garage dropped at night below 56 degrees so I wanted to give it longer curing time.Once dried, I took the wheels off again and placed high-heat transfer stickers to the caliper to finish the look. I am really delighted with the results and would suggest this product to anyone - as long as you have the time to spend to the cleaning, prep and painting as required.

Simply follow the instructions and mask off any sections you don't want paint on. This stuff covers wonderfully. All-purpose painter's tape works well. Make sure the calipers are extremely clean, combine the two chemicals, and apply three coats for best results. Be assured that the first coat will not look good. Allowing less than 15 minutes between coatings will prevent brush marks. And avoid using the inferior brush that came with the kit because it sheds bristles everywhere. For $3.50, I purchased a decent little brush kit from Home Depot. Once the reactor is incorporated into the paint, you only have a brief window of time to complete these, so make your plans appropriately! I finished the calipers off with white Brembo stickers, and I think they turned out well.

Color choices are exact matches to original engine manufacturer standards
The answer for engine restorations and similar applications where a tough, high heat finish is required

First off, the color of the cap accurately depicts the color of the paint, however keep in mind that paint color may differ from onscreen color due to monitor dependence and unpredictability. Second, I needed a heat-resistant paint because I was painting a baseboard heater rather than an engine. I am assuming the paint will still be effective when I turn on the heater because it is still summer or fall. One significant point Be careful that you will also need a heat-resistant primer if you intend to paint bare metal (as I did after removing damaged paint). Fortunately, it's simpler to find that kind of product than a wide range of finish coat colors. Having said that, the finished product is fantastic even if the only aspect that required adjustment was the color match for the heater's top. We convince ourselves that the minor duo-tone tint actually enhances its beauty. Sincerely, I can't detect any problem with the paint as it was given. Even the cap, which just turns a quarter turn to reveal the nozzle, was simple to open. Now, if it withstands the heat, I will be a fan.

Best when used with primer color paint and clear coat process
Superior heat and chemical resistance
Withstands temperatures up to 500 degrees when cured properly

Excellent durability and finish

On an oil pan, I tried it. Since everything was faded, I decided to perform a little color matching. I used 300 grit paper and it worked beautifully on the interior. I wish I had painted the interior. Just follow the instructions on the can to sand, prime, and paint, and it will come out virtually perfect for rattle canning! Stuff works excellent, goes on smoothly, and doesn't get runny. Only four stars because ORILLY'S charges ten dollars for it! however, I'll use this product once more in the future!

This has so far been applied to the chrome exhaust tips, calipers, and rotors on my truck. Always be prepared. pristine surface. No oily fingerprints or loose dirt. The reflectivity of the base and the thickness of the color coat both affect how reflective the color is. A nice silver anodized base coat is essential for regular calipers and rotors. All that is required for the chrome exhaust tips is a spotless surface. Use light coatings and quickly clean the nozzle between applications. If a "puddle" forms on the tip, it will splatter and cause a problem; either rinse it completely off or apply coats that are quite thick. The color becomes darker and less reflecting with more coatings. Unlike some other sprays, there is no need to bake. It will actually dry fairly rapidly if you do it on a reasonably hot day. Purchase a cheap can of paint and practice applying thin, even coats of paint if you are not yet proficient with a spray can. The hardest part is there, and that's where most people fail.

High temp paint can chip if it is not applied correctly. If the paint is applied too thickly, it can crack and peel. High temp paint must be applied in thin, even coats to prevent chipping.
Rustoleum high heat paint does not require a primer when used on bare metal surfaces.
No, VHT paint does not need primer. This paint is designed to adhere to bare metal and does not require a primer coat.
To ensure that high temperature paint will adhere properly to metal surfaces, they must be thoroughly cleaned and primed before painting. The type of cleaner and primer will vary depending on the type of metal being painted. For example, aluminum should be cleaned with a phosphoric acid solution and then primed with a zinc chromate primer. Steel should be cleaned with a trisodium phosphate solution and then primed with an alkyd primer.
The clearcoat on a car can get pretty hot in the summer sun, but it won't get hot enough to melt. The clearcoat is there to protect the paint and it can withstand pretty high temperatures.
Assuming you are talking about a paint job on an engine and not the engine itself: Paint jobs on engines usually last around 3 to 5 years. This obviously varies depending on how well you take care of your engine and how often you use it. If you don't take care of your engine and you use it a lot, the paint job will probably only last around 1 to 2 years.
