I've bought door edge guards from neighborhood auto parts shops, but I wasn't very impressed with their quality. The "chrome" would peel after many months in the scorching Florida summer, the guard's ends would readily separate, and the adhesive would become soiled and ooze. I went to Amazon out of frustration because there were so many options there. After perusing a number of reviews, I made the decision to buy this item. When it finally did, I realized its superior design. The guard has an EPDM rubber coating that is pretty thick, but the REALLY amazing feature is within. Throughout the roll, there are tiny quarter-inch chunks of segmented U-shaped metal (see picture). No glue is required because the metal parts hold the edges of the door. The roll itself is substantial and flexible. I had PLENTY extra length for all four of my SUV's doors, which allowed me to redo one of them after making a mistake. Regarding the straightforward installation, I took a chance and, despite the guidelines' advice to use a mallet, I used a small ball-peen hammer. I then tapped VERY CAREFULLY to avoid chipping the paint underneath (DO NOT USE A HAMMER UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE OUTCOME). Following installation, I used needle-nose pliers to remove any superfluous metal pieces, and I carefully applied ATV Black Gasket Maker to the extreme ends of the cuts to ensure that the holes were entirely filled. Voila! My doors have a polished and contemporary appearance at once. My coworkers have heard about this product from me, and they appear eager to test it out as well. The Strongman Tools Door Edge Guards are superior to all other guards I've used, in my opinion. Just in case you were curious, I DID NOT RECEIVE THIS PRODUCT FOR FREE AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION.

Since Wrangler doors swing freely and lack a mechanism to control how quickly they open and close, I bought this to preserve the edges of my doors. I chose this brand without doing any research; I'm glad I did. The midsection of the guards' flexible metal can conform to the edge of the doors. The rubbery material has a wonderful texture. Another roll that I purchased for a pittance from an auto body shop turned out to be nothing more than rubber with a small amount of sticky adhesive within (no flexible metal). We'll get a roll or two more of this for our other car!Notably, finishing both of my doors took roughly 30 minutes. Use a rubber mallet or other tool to firmly and evenly install the guards all the way around. Since the gap on the guards was a little too small in some places for me to even reach on my doors, I also used a flat-edged screwdriver to push apart the opening. Definitely worth the time and work!

To install this item, avoid using a hammer or mallet. I did that, and while the edge guard did, of course, seat entirely, I later saw that there were certain areas where the guard's edge was not sealing, not sitting taut and flat against the car door, leaving small holes that would enable the passage of water, debris, etc. under the edge guard's lip. The metal clips inside the edge guard are deformed and forced to spread when this material is hammered, which prevents the edge guard from properly sealing. Installing this stuff correctly simply requires the use of one's thumbs and palms. Fortunately, I had enough material to repair what I had hacked at with a 2x4 and a rubber mallet.

Easy to install, I advise using a blunt tool to actually get the trim as close to the door as you can, ensuring a snug fit (so the doors close), before cutting it with scissors or a utility knife. It appears to be made of metal, but closer inspection reveals tiny scores where the metal has been divided into pieces for the trim. On three different automobiles, I installed door edge protectors. Due to its extreme flexibility, this one is by far the best. This means that it is simple to maneuver around the door's curvature because it bends so easily. When you go around curves, the others do not stay and keep pushing it back in. This door edge guard also has 3M tape attached behind it to keep it in place. The others won't hold up in hot climates like Florida as they only have glue inside and no 3M tape. Eventually, the glue begins to peel off.

I held off on publishing my evaluation for about a month since I wanted to ensure that it continued to function over time. I am really happy with the outcome. On the model 3 door sill, the aluminum portion is prone to scratches and dust buildup. If you do not clean carefully, the dirt may harm the sill and result in damage that is difficult to repair. This transparent shield does a terrific job. Cleaning is quite simple, the dirt does not accumulate as much, and it looks nice and glossy. I am also less self-conscious while getting in and out of the car because I am no longer concerned with damaging the sill. You won't even notice it is there because it is cut nicely. Cleaning the door sill, applying the included soap solution, placing the film on the sill and adjusting the boundary, squeegeeing out any air bubbles, and you're done with installation in less than a minute! Because it can slide, don't forget to gently remove the air bubbles and press and hold on to the end. All model 3 owners should buy this product, in my opinion.
