Although the product cleans effectively and I have used it multiple times, deep scratches cannot be fixed. Even though it states it can be used with BluRay, I haven't tried it with BluRay discs. Don't expect your discs to miraculously be restored, but it's a decent product for the money, in my opinion. To do it well, patience is a must, and more patience. My recommendation is that if a movie skips while you're watching it, don't stop everything right away to fix the disc since you'll wind up rushing and making mistakes. When you're calm, watch something else and repair the damaged disc later. Mistakes are caused by rage and fury.It can be difficult to tell how deep a scratch is, but if it takes more than three attempts, use chapstick. I "polish" and clean the disc with white toothpaste, completely rinse it out, and then cover the scratched places with chapstick. then blot the surplus tissue with a non-scratch material until it is smooth. test the DVD after that. If it continues to skip, it can have irreparable harm.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with this product; the only adjustment I made was to use furniture polish as lubricant in place of the supplied liquid. It takes a little amount to lubricate the wheel, but it polishes the disk really nicely. I've saved a ton of money on the DVDs and games for my kids' Wii. My two and four-year-olds put the CDs to a rigorous test. Even though I wasn't able to entirely fix the CD, the device did its job well enough for the video or game console to read it once more. 10 severely damaged CDs can be played on a wheel before it needs to be replaced (10 minutes or so on the wheel is good for bad scratches). If the wheel has minor scratches, polishing it for a minute or two will remove them and make it nearly look brand new. Don't worry about the CD's spiral because it can still be read as long as it is polished. Different devices read CDs differently. I've discovered that Sony goods perform admirably. It is read by Xbox and Vizio, but not consistently. Once you've looked at the surface, replace the wheel. If it is extremely smooth, it should be replaced. It will still work even if there is some visible grain.The automatic machines are better for using the wheel...I ruined two manual gadgets. This small device is quite effective at resurfacing worn-out discs and restoring them to their original condition. For PS1 discs, I've used it at least 100 times. Very well done!The Meguiar's stuff I bought to replace them is FAR superior to the compound and shine that came with the kit. I recently purchased it and have only used it once. I had a four-disc CD set, and wouldn't you know it, the one music in the set that I loved the most couldn't be played because it was broken. In fact, I had a hard time even getting the CD to play on a standard player. The CD played after going through the Clean cycle, but the one track still wouldn't. Over the years, I've used a few other CD cleaners, but this is by far my favorite. This was used to a Microsoft Office suite CD that had very significant scratches. How far did they go? They were obtained, however, when the laptop was dropped while the installation CD was in use. That frequently results in deeper scratches than usual. You must be aware of a number of factors and have reasonable expectations before purchasing anything. I've successfully used this to fix a number of DVDs that had severe skips and couldn't even be played in a computer DVD drive. But you must approach this with realistic expectations and a comprehension of how the procedure functions.First off, skips can be brought on by a variety of factors, such as a DVD or Blu-malfunctioning ray's laser, but they are typically brought on by DEEP scratches. While the surface scratches you see are harmless, deep scratches scatter the laser, which results in skipping. If there are DEEP scratches, you can erase ALL of the superficial surface scratches and still have skips. Therefore, depending on how severely scratched it is, it could not be recoverable. The worst scratches are circular ones since the disk is read in a circular motion. In general, skipping is not caused by scratches that run perpendicular to the laser beam's path, from edge to middle.Second, the surface pad on this device is only made of VERY fine grit. Minor scratches will be swiftly removed, and the disk will be polished, while deeper scratches will take longer to remove (or, more accurately, diminish). This equipment will still be useful if you have DEEP scratches, but you might need to add some of your own materials, like toothpaste. A more harsh polishing agent is toothpaste. Use a product with a smooth, even consistency, such as the original Colgate. Put a SMALL quantity of toothpaste on your finger and rub it around until you create a very liquid paste, or an even coating. Then, spray the disk with the provided fluid to wet it. Spray it once more to further moisten it, and then run it through at least three complete rotations in the SkipDr. The disc should be removed, washed under the faucet, dried, and then tried again to see if it skips. If that doesn't work, wash, rinse, and repeat, as they say. You will eventually have to accept that the disk is too severely scratched to be fixed or the SkipDr WILL eventually cure the deep scratches.Lubrication is your friend, to finish. Prior to starting, thoroughly spray the disk. Then, spray it once more halfway through the first revolution. It will be simpler if the polishing wheel is moist. A dry disk is not what you want. You will have to apply a LOT more effort in order to complete the task, and it won't polish as well. The only ingredient in the spray is filtered water mixed with a little alcohol; if you run out, just use ordinary water. Refrain from using Windex or any other window cleaners. Instead of trying to make the disk shine, you are attempting to lessen or remove scratches in order to reduce the likelihood that the disk may scatter the laser beam. Ammonia or other cleansers that could cause the abrasive wheel to break are not necessary.Last but not least, if you have a double-sided DVD, using this method to fix the second side COULD erase some of the text surrounding the inner ring (what is normally the top of the DVD). After a while, turning the device is a little uncomfortable. If you don't think you'll have the time or energy, think about getting the motorized version. I chose the manual configuration. When I'm done cranking, I let the kids take a turn who actually caused the scratches. They possess ENDLESS energy. You might want to think about investing in more expensive professional equipment like a JFJ Easy Pro if you have a lot of disks that are severely scratched and would cost a lot of money to repair. I like this method because there are no CDs to scratch. You only use a cloth to apply the lotion and a fresh one to remove it. I can now read certain DVDs that I couldn't before. Very huge, deep scratches will probably still skip, in my opinion. However, this fluid sort of fills in the tiny gaps so it can play more effectively.
