I installed a Wyze Cam at the front door. I dug a hole adjacent to the door frame to serve as a conduit for the USB cable so that it could get electricity without seeming tacky. Finishing touches include applying white caulking inside the hole and gray caulking outside. I used tiny spots of gorilla glue every few feet along the door frame and top of the moulding to hold it fast because the cable's color matched my baseboard moulding quite well. The cable practically vanished into the molding. In essence, the Mrs. is content. The fact that this wire could transport 5V this far amazed me. In fact, I attempted a 25' cable even though I had other plans. That wire was also quite effective with the camera. I can tell you from personal experience that distance is not your friend when designing and sizing conductors for devices requiring 5VDC.

I have 20 years of expertise using security cameras in warehouse and retail environments. I had had cameras and DVRs installed, monitored, and set up, so I knew what I wanted when it came time to buy a system for my house. Not because I had any problems personally, but rather for piece of mind, I felt it was time to go ahead and invest in a respectable system for my home as the quality and technology have grown more and more accessible. I decided to get the Zosi brand, 1080p 2.0MP, 4 camera, 2TB DVR, wired system after doing some research and reading reviews. I thought considering using a wireless system, but I ultimately felt that a cable system would likely be more reliable and more difficult for someone to compromise. The DVR is hardwired to my router via a LAN connection, and all of the cameras are hardwired to the DVR as well. The accompanying instructions made it easy to set up the cameras right out of the box; once your DVR is configured, the cameras are essentially plug-and-play. The DVR, cameras, and iPhone mobile app setup went without a hitch. The cables are straightforward to run because they are basic, labeled for which connections go to the DRV or camera, and the power and BNC are combined into one cable. The camera quality is incredible, especially on my 4K TV (I connected the DVR to my TV with an HDMI cable that is not included). I was really delighted with the picture both during the day and at night when using the infrared feature. Although I do have experience with DVR setup and menu features, I had no problems with the DVR. However, I can see how someone without knowledge would become a little disoriented in the setup or menu. Both the DVR and the app have excellent playback quality, and you can download videos and screenshots to your phone directly from the app. The app/lack system's of a monitoring cost is a plus. I am completely delighted with the purchase and think it was a great value considering the price ($199), quality, and what you get (2tb-DVR/4-Cameras/cables/power supply/etc). I have already given it the thumbs up to a few acquaintances, and I have no qualms about investing in a second system to put in my in-laws' home. Remember that if you choose to use this wired system, you will need to run each camera to your DVR; to get these into my garage and then into my living room, I had to drill through brick; otherwise, everything was pretty straightforward.

I purchased a wireless camera system, an NVR, and a LAView 6 camera security system. I grabbed this because I knew I'd need more than their 10 foot length in a couple places.fit flawlessly. Therefore, the one feature of this product that particularly caught our attention was the fact that if any of the power connectors for linked equipment (we had one wired backwards) are wired incorrectly, the entire gadget will shut off. This strikes me as both advantageous and disadvantageous because it won't harm either your equipment or itself while giving you cause to suspect a power supply problem. I didn't find anything about this in the paperwork, but we didn't really read the directions very carefully, so there you go. Other than that, this wall charger has been plugged in and is working perfectly to power a variety of 12 volt appliances in our house. (Zwave sensors, cameras, window blinds, etc.) Simply keep an eye on the load, make sure all the circuits are wired properly, and then leave.We had previously attempted a metal wall box with a power supply inside of it, but every time a little little thing disturbed the power, the box would trip our afci. The fact that this power supply is less expensive and has never tripped a breaker makes me feel a little safer since it is tucked away in a difficult-to-access space.

This item is sold by several different merchants, and I've seen minor changes, so there may be a few makers as well. These were the cheapest I could find at the time, and they perform great. A small Phillips or slotted screwdriver will work for the tiny cinch screws. A slotted screwdriver, which has a better grip on the screw head, works best in my experience.I test light strips using them as temporary connections both before and after installation. For permanent installations, I do not recommend utilizing clips and plug connectors because they can be erratic and nearly always fail, forcing you to search for the problematic connection (which, if discovered, is simple to fix). Since soldering all connections is trouble-free and permanent, I prefer doing it.Some light strips already have a plug attached, so all you need to do is plug them in to get power to test the light's color and look for any broken LEDs. If there isn't a plug, it won't be a problem; simply install one of these plugs in order to conduct the testing. similarly for power sources. Create a straightforward test splice with a male, a female, and two short lengths of wire to measure the amperage draw. To connect in series to a multimeter equipped to test amps, cut one of the central wires. Despite the fact that I mentioned I soldered every connection, I actually use a male/female connection between the power source and the light strips so I can quickly insert my test splice to verify voltage and amps as needed in the future.LED light strips, CCTV installations, and any other 12 VDC application are all covered by what I said.

Undoubtedly a purchase I'd advise!The power adaptor for my Ring spotlight camera was just quickly installed tonight (will be changing how I ran the cord tomorrow and redirecting the wire at the corner coming from the light to run along the seam of the soffit but wanted to make sure it worked before I put too much time into it)I bought this charger because I was sick of continuously having to climb a short ladder to get the batteries out to charge them and then back up to put them back in. I wasn't really expecting much because it almost sounded too good to be true, but I'm glad I did!Since last week, I had put off installing it because I detest working with any kind of wiring. I had no idea how straightforward the installation would be, but it really couldn't have been any easier! You only need to remove the rubber weatherproof plug from the camera's rear, insert the converter, run the cord to an outlet, and plug it in.I chose not to use the small plastic brackets that the charger comes with to attach the cord against the house instead I just tucked it into my soffit. My battery life has already significantly boosted after plugging it in for approximately 25 to 30 minutes and installing it in just 2 minutes.The flat cable is a good feature that enables it to pass through a window while still closing and locking as usual.The cord is also very long.I've seen conflicting opinions on giving the batteries a constant charge, but I hooked it into an accessible outlet so that I may unhook it whenever I want after the battery is fully charged.My main worry with the battery cameras was that they wouldn't work when we went out of town or on vacation because the batteries would run out and we obviously wouldn't be home to charge them. However, since I dislike messing with electricity and liked the battery option, this just solved both issues.Don't allow the installation challenge deter you from buying this if it's causing you hesitation.
