Chipper shredders are a great way to reduce the amount of yard waste you have. They are also a great way to reduce the amount of time you spend on yard work.
You can put bones in a wood chipper, but they will need to be small pieces. If the bones are too big, they could damage the blades.
You can put dry branches in a wood chipper, but it's not the best idea. The wood chipper will work better if the branches are wet.
Pine branches can be chipped, but they need to be done so carefully. The process can be done with a chipper, but it is important to make sure that the pine branches are dry before doing so. If they are not dry, they can cause the chipper to malfunction.

Wow, you amaze me. I chewed my way quickly through a vast pile of sticks. No problem, big or small. Be careful as they spin because it will hurt when they hit you.Note For this, I solely used TruFuel. After about three hours of use, I used 1.5 quarts.Negative: The instructions do not specify the amount of oil to use. Purchase a large bottle because it is necessary!

UPDATE: I discovered this to be a high-power paper shredder as well:) Maybe not for your most private information, but it sure eats paper; don't worry about staples or anything else; it consumes it everything. If you have a backlog of tons of secondary paper shredding, it might be something to think about. This was used for the first time, and the results were good. We use half as many paper bags and approximately half as much time to clean up our yard as a result, I would guess (our county requires them, ugh). The worst part of the task was always packing the bags and packing the board to compress the leaves. That is essentially eliminated by this tool (though we do press down its leaf mulch once per bag to fit more in). Though it should be noted that employing this item would make this activity noisier and dustier, everything has costs and advantages. This gadget takes mixed-in twigs, say up to pencil thickness, fairly well. I immediately switched to cut segments of.095 trimmer line. Even though the twigs could require you to change lines every three or four bags (once every hour?) and to clear the hopper more, I think it's worth it to not separate the twigs. When I detect sticks, I simply try to avoid feeding them in and keep a thick stick nearby in case the hopper clogs. The tool needs seven, as stated by another reviewer "I used inexpensive, simple 3/4" PVC cut into 26 1/4" pieces attached with duct tape as a leg extender to sit above regular leaf paper bags (for easy removal for end of season storage). posted a picture of this from a customer (Ugh! Thank Amazon for removing customer images and all of the valuable information they were associated with.Additionally, make sure to regularly check, clean, and blow out the motor's air intake; for portability, I used canned air/dust-off from Radio Shack. Use a dust mask, eye and ear protection, and of course, both (if prone to allergies, etc).Given the changes above, my wife and I think this is a fantastic tool, but we only gave it 4 stars because it should have thicker line and requires 7 "leg extensions for common paper bags, and c) the documentation could be more explicit about the significance and procedures for air intake filter cleaning.Use the adjustments/recommendations in this review at your own discretion, as always.

It is quite challenging to sit at the table all day cutting after countless back procedures and other operations. I've hired the trimmer Pro and I've taken out three of my friends' salad bowl trimmers. Compared to the other four trimmers I have rented and borrowed, this one is significantly superior. Numerous reviewers claimed that it ate up the little things. It did absolutely consume the small items, which is fantastic for me since I bake everything for medicinal purposes—cookies, brownies, wax, etc. I am astonished by how well it pruned all the buds without removing many triclones. With scissors, there is almost no extra cleanup necessary. I feel like it has already paid for itself after using it just once, and I'm not exaggerating! This device functions a thousand times better than any else I have used. This thing is extremely well made and of exceptional quality. I can understand why some customers have complained about the lid shattering; this is presumably because they are placing all of their weight on it. It was cutting so well that I decided to add a lot. I mean, I placed two large, fat handfuls in there, and it perfectly trimmed everything in 30 seconds. It took no longer than 10 minutes to trim the product once it was cut off the branches from the tree I cut down, which dried to make roughly 1 pound of medicine. I cannot believe how many hours I was able to save. I can't believe I waited this long to purchase one, and I'm overjoyed to have chosen wisely by purchasing this particular one. Before I bought this, I read almost all of the reviews, and one person mentioned doing 11 rotations forward and 11 turns backward. As long as you don't put too much in it, that works just fine. I put a lot of effort into it and experimented to see what it could accomplish. I made 15 turns forward and 15 turns backward, and the quality of trimming it produces has completely astounded me. I am an excellent trimmer with scissors because I have been doing this for many years, and this gadget probably accomplishes 96–97% as well as I do; the only difference is that it completes the task in a matter of seconds. Stop playing around and get one. Update: After only four uses, the top is fractured and covered with spider webs. Still functions flawlessly; just the top is shattered. I called customer service, and I'll hear back from them in 48 hours. I'll keep you updated.

This most recent model from Sunjoe is a fantastic purchase if you need a 120V chipper.I used it for about two hours, slicing three bags of branches—including those from a pear tree, an oak tree, and a conifer—into just over half of a tote of dense, nugget-like chips "diameter. Although I never had to reverse it, I did had to halt a few times when a branch was only just short enough to fit sideways in the hopper. I used a different tote that had a nylon bag to store the discharged material. It reduces branches to around 1 inch "If you anticipate mulch or sawdust the size of grains from the lengthy pieces (but smashed up), you will be dissatisfied. You can use it near to your house or automobile because of the nature of cutting size; it does not spray dust everywhere.Additionally, it struggles with small, delicate leaves. Branches and twigs are my main worry.I am able to make relatively long branches that way because it essentially feeds itself. After using it for a while, I discovered that by just stuffing numerous little twigs, the material can remain vertical while passing past the cutting wheel.I didn't need to use earplugs because this machine is relatively safe and silent.Overall, I'm extremely content; a gas-powered machine would be much better but much more expensive.

Overall, this wood mulcher is pretty excellent. It appears to be very effective at removing branches. The only drawback is that you may need to perform some pre-trimming if the branches you are dealing with have numerous little branches or a lot of curves because of how narrow the entrance is. I'm certain that the entrance is designed the way it is so that nobody tries to jam very large branches past the shredder's capacity, but it does appear to cause issues with suitably sized branches. The only other thing I discovered that I did not much enjoy was that the support bar made it challenging to place a regular storage tote underneath the trimmer to collect the trimmings. Due to the bar's angle tilting it away from the chipper, the plastic storage container I was attempting to utilize was drifting away from it. It's amazing how little mulch there is after such a big pile of tree branches! But overall, I'm happy I bought it.

We recently purchased a WORX Leaf Mulcher, and while we enjoy it a lot, it quickly crosses the red mulching line. Since we first purchased the mulcher a year and a half ago, we have twice needed refills. Having said that, the mulcher performs an excellent job, and the refills are reasonably priced. I'm very grateful that ordering these refills is so simple and that they are the ideal fit. We'll keep placing orders for these.

Sun I work well with Joe. Our shared foe is The Unrelenting Jungle. We also agree on something. It goes like this:branches larger than 1.5 inches "are referred to as firewood, not mulch. The human operator will wear safety goggles, gloves, and earplugs. Branches will be made as straight as reasonably possible before mulching. Green, sappy, gunky, viny, or other chewy materials are followed by dry, tasty, seasoned wood before the day's conclusion. The Unrelenting Jungle will be reduced to manageable mulch by Sun Joe.With this in mind, Sun Joe and I have been working together contentedly for the past two years. The Unrelenting Jungle is gradually being domesticated into a structure that could be referred to as a "yard."Yes, Sun Joe can clog from time to time, but it's simple to fix; just disconnect it and loosen the large red knob. The blockage is easily accessible and located there. It usually only gets backed up when I'm extremely ambitious and insert something awkward.Although many of its parts are made of plastic, Sun Joe is nevertheless lightweight enough for an average woman like me to carry it over my entire yard (which, for the record, is largely located on a rather steep slope). Although it has wheels, they don't actually help much on stairs. Or while you're carrying it into or out of your low-ceilinged, elevated garden shed storage place (seriously, who designed that?). Numerous advantages come with being light.Sun Joe certainly makes some noise. Because I value my hearing and want to retain it, I constantly use earplugs. However, I'd say it's quieter than a lawnmower and it's consuming a tremendous mountain of dead branches I would otherwise have to lug away to the landfill (!) so I can put up with a little motor noise.Sun Joe will occasionally whip branches about at your face or through your hands, so be prepared for it. The gloves and safety eyewear are used for this reason (see above). Nothing major. Really expected.Additionally, you generally want to be aware that even the smallest twigs can pass through. Since my goal is to tame the Unrelenting Jungle rather than design a yard suitable for a magazine picture spread, I don't really care. I also don't give leaves much thought, so I can't speak to them.Other components that I believe are crucial to incorporate into the chipping process are:the loppers " (especially ones that can lop up to 1.5")- an exceptionally long extension cord (I am currently limited to a 100 foot radius from my closest outlet and this makes me sad-ish)- a tarp (for collecting all the mulch you may need if you are more than 100 feet from the nearest outlet). To be really honest, other, more ambitious members of my family would choose a big gas-powered chipper-shredder. However, those family members are also in responsible of cutting the firewood, so there may be a small bias.I certainly hope Sun Joe and I get to spend a lot more time together in the future. There is a ton of work to be done!Photo: Sun Joe is seen standing in the center of a path that is being mulched. The Unrelenting Jungle is everywhere. Sun Joe certainly resembles a super hero.

After the rains, a ton of weeds appeared in the areas where I had mulched. They were all approximately 11 and a half feet tall by the time I finally got to them last week due to sporadic rain! I made the decision to grind this stuff up with my Patriot Shredder after pulling them out by the roots. Since I've had the Patriot for a while, it's come in handy for chipping and shredding broken branches after trimming the hedges. As long as I don't "choke" the machine with too much things at once, it easily maneuvers through both dry and wet branches.I tried to suck the new, tall weeds through the top hopper, but it just wouldn't work. Then, when I used the chipper opening, nothing emerged from the discharge chute. The device stalled and slowed down. I discovered a thick layer of damp green "mush" covering the chipper blade, hammers, and flywheel. This was simply too much for the system to handle. Just cleaning out the Patriot took me nearly an hour.I read numerous reviews when hunting for an alternative and chose the SunJoe Shredder. The majority of reviews on "wet" goods were unfavorable, but I was prepared to give it a shot—especially since the cost was less than $100.I put my Patriot Chipper's cloth bag to use, and it fit perfectly! You should use a "cloth" bag of some kind, in my opinion. If there are thorns or twigs, plastic bags are more likely to tear. Paper bags are difficult to find in the proper size and frequently rip when being secured. The bags will rip as you try to pull them to fit around the bottom flange since the elastic cord is too tight. The Patriot bag is made of high gauge synthetic material that is "breathable," allowing air to be pushed out as the bag fills up. Additionally, the bag has a long lifespan of reuse. Even though the bag costs about half as much as the shredder, I believe it would be worthwhile if you want to do a lot of shredding. October 2019 Update:Since I never throw away clipped branches since they make free mulch, I've used this device intermittently until the blades finally became dull. The chipper works just as well as new after being simply unscrewed, dragged back and forth on a rough sharpening stone for about five minutes, and then reinstalled. Blades are double-sided, so I could have easily flipped them over and utilized the other side—I just wasn't aware of it at first. However, I was curious as to how long my sharpening job would continue. Due to last thick but short bits getting caught in the blade when the blades were dull, it started jamming a little, but not too much (with the cross "thingy" gone - see below - jamming isn't a problem at all, actually). The best garbage can is still that one.Cheers to chipping!Original review from January 2016:I've just used it for a day, but I'm already impressed. I'm hoping it will be dependable because I bought a 2-year warranty. To be completely honest, I have no idea why the other two brands of wood chippers sell so much better than this one. They don't have a receiver container and they appear uncomfortable.Due to the paucity of reviews, I was hesitant to purchase it, but it had two advantages: a container to collect the output, which was quite similar to a "chinese wonder" and had high reviews on YouTube (which works out beautifully and is a good size). This chipper has everything that a chipper should have in my opinion, a greater permissible diameter than other brands on Amazon, and it appears to be well-made. It felt very "logical" to me. Time will probably tell how well, I suppose. It jammed ONCE (my mistake, I put a wedge-shaped piece of wood in it that was thin but wider than suggested diameter), but I was able to get it out and continue using it in less than a minute. In the few hours that I used it, the pile in the picture shrank by 2/3. You have to adore that! I refrained from inserting sticks larger than 1 1/2" because many users complain that electric chippers don't actually live up to their maximum diameter claims. (I don't have many thick ones, in any case.)Thin brush wasn't processed very effectively by the chipper; it was processed, but the sticks that emerged were only around 2-3" long. not a significant flaw in my opinion. It struggled with a patch of weeds as well. It ground it into pulp, but I had to clean the chamber by opening it. I don't think it was a true jam (the blade was still spinning) because I didn't have another clump to try again and the receiving container was already full, which might have blocked the material from going out. I'm okay with it either way. My major objective was to chip wood, and it did that.I must add that it is also fairly quiet. Since my ears are delicate, I always wear ear protection when using my table saw. I didn't need ear protection when using this chipper. It appears to be the ideal gear for a weekend warrior. It won't be used frequently by me, for sure. a couple of twigs and sticks from our trees (this load is an exception, we got rid of a large bush that was overtaking our patio). Occasionally, if I don't have enough, I might gather some branches from the nearby forest to add to the bedding in my bird cage (I find that grass or wood chips blend in bird you-know-what better than paper or newspaper:). This manner, I can be certain that the wood is clean and secure for my birds to gnaw on if they so want. Another thought I had was to try growing mushrooms with this wood mulch. It seems that all of the "normal" straw available at feed stores has been treated with pesticides, herbicides, or a combination of the two. I'd rather have something ecologically clean to grow mushrooms on because they have a tendency to collect all kinds of trash. I am not sure if this will be successful, but I'll find out in a few weeks. Cheers to chipping!

This product uses branches to create paper-thin shreds. It was difficult to use until I reduced every branch to a single stick, at which point it chugged along nicely. Because I don't want to store a full-scale chipper, its modest size made it perfect for me.
Pine needles can be safely put into a wood chipper as long as the machine is designed to handle them. Needles can clog up a wood chipper if they are not shredded properly, so it is important to check the manufacturer's recommendations before adding them to the machine.
You can put wet branches in a chipper, but they won't chip as well as dry branches. Wet branches are more likely to clog the chipper, so it's best to wait until they're dry before putting them in.
You can sharpen blades on a wood chipper, but it is a difficult and dangerous task. It is best to leave it to a professional.
Chippers are designed to handle branches up to a certain diameter. The size of the chipper will dictate how big of a branch it can handle. For example, a small chipper may only be able to handle branches up to 2 inches in diameter, while a larger chipper could handle branches up to 6 inches in diameter.
Chippers are useful for clearing brush and small trees from your property. But how far out can you use a chipper? Most chippers have a maximum capacity of about four to six inches. This means they can handle branches and small trees that are up to four to six inches in diameter. However, some chippers can handle branches and trees that are up to eight inches in diameter. If you need to clear larger brush and trees, you may need to rent a chipper with a higher capacity. When using a chipper, always follow the manufacturer
A wood chipper needs at least 50 HP to function properly.
