decent bit I haven't tried this one on hardwood yet, but it arrived pretty sharp and slices through pine like butter. The 1/2" shank gives it weight, which I appreciate since it allows it to absorb a little bit more heat without burning the wood if I need to make a heavy cut. This is exactly on par with things from Freud or another high-end brand, and I'm quite happy with it. Try a very good bit like this if you've only ever used the cheap stuff that costs $30 for a set of 10 or 20 pieces. It will transform the way you work with wood forever.

To flatten two live edge slabs for a bar top, I purchased this bit. The slabs are little over 10 feet long and roughly 35 inches wide overall. I've about finished flattening one side of each slab, and I'm still gathering a respectable quantity of shavings. Therefore, it has quite successfully kept its crispness. The 2-1/4" diameter is advantageous since each pass results in a wider cut. In order to enhance the depth of cut that would be achievable regardless of the type of router you are using, it would be ideal if the 1/2 inch shank was a little longer. I am quite pleased with this buy overall.

I work with wood a lot, therefore I am familiar with quality equipment. I typically only purchase premium brands like Bosch or Freud. I had been using my Bosch 1/4 inch set until so many sharpenings had worn away the carbide that I had to get a new set. This Kowood set was recommended by a friend. I wasn't convinced at first, but he persuaded me, so I bought them. I did some routing and shaping today after receiving the bits. The pieces left a smooth, crisp finish while effortlessly cutting through strong white oak. These pieces are quite reasonably priced and of great quality. Normally, I spend more, but I though I'd give them a shot, and I'm glad I did. Even the wooden box the collection is packaged in is attractive. When you don't need to, why pay a high price for a name brand product like Bosch? The Kowood brand, in my opinion, is just as good as my Bosch and Freud components. I'm glad my friend suggested I give them a try. The Kowood router bits have my unqualified endorsement.

I needed this product, and it was perfect. From my neighborhood hardware store, I tried purchasing some less expensive surfacing routers, and the sound kept up with the work I was doing. I'm really pleased with the bit I bought to flatten an end grain slab. I did three rather deep passes on the slab that I'm flattening, and I'm really happy with the cut. However, the slab barely fits on my 4' x 4' jig. The cut was about half an inch deep in several spots. The bit held up OK, but as I ran the router, it started to break out more and more. Even though the bit did not survive very long, I am still giving this review five stars because using such a broad bit allowed for a time savings. Additionally, this component only cost $15, so I'll just buy another to complete my project. The return on my investment is fantastic even after purchasing 2 of these parts for one job. This part is priceless just based on how quickly it eliminates stuff.
