I got this to maintain a car battery that is past its prime but still functions as long as the car is driven. However, when I am off duty, I let the car rest for a few days, and when I want to start it, it may or may not have enough starting amps. To check whether I could avoid paying for a new car battery, I decided to try this trickle charger. And so far, it has been fitted as instructed. I modified the back of the roof of my SUV to accommodate it, and I ran the wires to a power outlet in the cargo bay via the pole panels of the roof and the cargo door. Since the suction cups that came with it would be ideal for a temporary interior installation on the window, I chose not to use them. Although I didn't receive the mounting brackets that were intended to be included, I still desired a more long-lasting solution, so it wasn't a major deal. For mounting on the roof top, I fastened four powerful magnets to the back of the panel, and so far everything has worked out perfectly. I also like that it has clamps for mounting it to the battery directly and that the wire has cut ends for mounting it straight to the circuit box or wherever else you choose to connect the charger. It has a tiny led light connector, which is fantastic because it would be impossible to know until you played with with it for a long without it before. So for me, it was definitely worth the money because it would allow me to extend the life of my car battery, which is still functional.

I changed the rating to five stars since I adore the solar panel, and the vendor sent me a new controller free of charge and with incredibly speedy delivery after confirming that my old one wasn't working properly.first assessmentAlthough the controller that came with the panel does not have and volts coming through it, I really want to give it a five-star rating. When I connect it to the solar panel side and connect the clamps, I measure 18 volts at the end of the cables from the panel, but there are no volts reaching the attached battery. I then disconnected the clamps and tested the wires from the controller on the battery side, and there was no power. When I connected a different controller from another system to the panel, 13.8 volts were flowing through it to the battery clips.I discovered the problem after it had been (supposedly charging the house battery on my RV in storage and I went to check on it and it was at 3.8 v.. Hopefully I can get it to fully change and hold a charge or I will be out not only the cost of having to buy a new controller (I'm hoping the vendor/seller will send me a functioning controller) but also a new house battery.

The first solar panel I got was cracked, which is why I gave it a "4" rating; however, the second panel showed up undamaged. I keep my Harley battery charged inside an enclosed trailer using a solar battery charger. I used a Schumacher WM-12 12" Cable Connector for Battery Charger/Maintainer and a Schumacher EC-25 25' Cable Connector Extension Cord to connect the charger to my battery. I put the connector on the side of the trailer housing. The battery charger circuitry will cut-out (electrically isolate from the battery) if you use the Schumacher battery connection harnesses and plug everything in "as is." The blue LED on the charger will not light up when it is connected to the battery (since polarity is reversed). The blue LED on the solar panel lit up when I used a multimeter to find and fix the reversed polarity, and the battery charger now keeps my battery completely charged. Add me to the list of those who have commented on the reverse polarity issue. Because the output of the solar charger varies so greatly (0 volts to 24 volts under full sunshine circumstances), I additionally connected a voltage regulator/charger controller between the solar panel and my battery. Although I've read that the controller isn't necessary for a system using such a small amount of solar power, I wasn't comfortable with "double voltage" hitting my batteries (I opted for overkill for my own peace of mind). Additionally, I wasn't confident in how the suction cup attachments would hold the solar panel to the side of my trailer. Since the bottom of the panel doesn't support any weight or stress, I inserted bolts and wingnuts for the top mounts while letting it rest on two suction cups. For road trips, it's still quite simple to remove from the trailer.

The automobile began as I had never left when I got back in it after many blizzards. I heartily endorse this product. You will need to connect the cables straight to the battery if, like in my case, your "cigarette lighter" port is not enabled when the engine is off. My Acura had no issues with this. The rubber stripping's elasticity allowed me to close the door without damaging the wires after I just passed them out the driver-side window. The hood is the same. I was able to latch the hood without damaging the cable by just threading them under the top corner of the hood. In order to efficiently soak up the sun and trickle charge my battery, the charger's suction cups held it glued to the inside of the windshield. much less expensive than a service call or new battery.

The maker of the solar charger did send me an email to advise me that the charger might not be compatible with the Ring Doorbell 2. even if they were created for the Ring Doorbell 2.
