Every camping season, I seem to need to replace three or four of them due to spring failure. I get a price savings by buying this many at once, plus I always have extras. Factory catches cannot fit in the holes. I was first unhappy, but after giving it some thought, I discovered the screws were being installed in new siding, improving the hold. To stop leaks and decay, I just made sure to cover the existing holes with plenty of silicone.It would be much simpler if the hardware included drill points rather than just pan head screws. Drilling is always required before screwing into gel coat to prevent cracks.

Although these things seem rather obvious now, we took some time to figure them out because the product didn't come with any instructions (we are new camper owners). I was initially irritated when the hooks came off. We nearly forced them closed. After making a few journeys, we then realized we could remove the hooks, leave the tabs in the awning, and just roll it up. This may seem obvious to you seasoned campers, but there's a hint for you novice camper owners! I adore them now that we are product gurus. I'm concerned I'll drop the hooks, but at least I can buy a replacement for little money at any hardware store. If you want to prevent your lights from sagging, I advise purchasing two packs. Our RV's awning is low-slung, therefore we prefer it if the lights are close to the awning. Although I've thought about getting a third pack, I believe two will be sufficient.

I've been using the original, small feeble De-Flappers for years. They have pulled off, broken, gotten loose, and even the cloth straps have broken for me. I purchased numerous extras in the belief that, as the saying goes, "quantity has a quality all its own."Then, during the 2017 camping season, I purchased these monstrosities and put them to extensive use—I'm talking weeks—with some strong winds as well as with the sporadic accumulation of heavy, wet snow in the mountains. With these, I could not be more pleased. One review I read claimed that they weighted too much. The fact that they are heavy does not bother me. They are really heavy duty, therefore they weigh a lot. You will be able to feel the weight when you open the box and examine the de-flappers. They are described as measuring 3 x 7.3 x 12.5 inches, weighing 1.8 pounds (each), and having a shipping weight of 6.2 pounds. I don't know how someone can order something and then complain about the weight when the weight is stated, but whatever.Additionally, I saw reviews that claimed the knobs could be removed, which made me instinctively wary. Despite applying a lot of tension to them, I have not seen the knobs having a tendency to do this on my units. I am confident that if the giant rubber knob(s) do break, I will just crank it down after welding a piece of steel to the bolt's head (a link from a chain, for instance).When my fellow campers saw these de-flappers, they went out and bought some for themselves. If knobs have been removed, I haven't noticed it.The tiny de-flappers were stored in case I needed them. Since I acquired these monsters, I have never employed them. I wish I had received them sooner.

The springs are strong. The anchors appear to have some sort of corrosion-preventing plating and are in good condition. The straps are in issue. They feel airy. Additionally, the strap has a snap attached around 4 inches from the end. The instructions make no mention of the snap. When the strap was taken out of the shipping bag, the snap came off, leaving a hole in the strap. This gap makes the strap vulnerable to failure. If I had seen the strap before I bought, I would not have ordered this set. I understand why ratchet tie down straps purchased at flea markets are used by 90% of RV owners. I'll be purchasing a pair for myself.

And I have no problem recommending it.We have a seller who cares, and my head is still covered. I'm glad.Here is my initial assessment:These were installed on the RV bay doors to protect my head from blows. They appear to be equally as good as the two Jayco-installed ones. They currently safeguard my head by doing their job.I only gave it three stars since the provided screws can't hold things in place. They are so small that I can't even think of a project where I may use them.Purchase some 1-inch stainless steel screws from your preferred toy retailer as a favor to yourself.The screws are way too short if you use butyl tape to install them, which you absolutely should do to seal the holes you are making in your RV or camper.No problem with the door clip itself. Only time will tell.

Let me begin by emphasizing how absurd it is that Coachman produces a product that is difficult to escape from. There is a basic door latch on the exterior. The inside is empty, and the only way to leave is by removing the dumb screen door cover that sticks to the track and falls off. Our Jayco featured a superb mechanism that allowed the doors to open from all sides. I suppose Coachman needed to cut that convenience and save 60 cents. Ugh. Anyway. For the price, this works reasonably well. Although not as good as the Jayco's circle slide handle, it is still good. It didn't take long to install, but before you drill the hole, be sure to give the placement some serious thought. This handle works perfectly when the main door is open. However, with the main door closed, the handle is too close to the main door latch, which gets in the way and pushes it out a little because Coachman fails again. Not a big deal, just push it back out when you need to use it so that it can grab the door latch, and you'll be all set. Overall, I'm satisfied.
