I built a grid out of 1 inch PVC pipe with bracing every four feet to utilize this netting over my circular koi pond. Using other nets with stakes throughout the perimeter didn't work well for me, so I decided to try this strategy. Because the previous nets sagged, the leaves could accumulate on the pond's surface. The leaves were impossible to remove while they were moist.I put together the PVC frame. The net was briefly staked out over the top, and zip ties were used to secure the taut net to the PVC frame. I exerted some pressure on the net. When extended out like this, the feels powerful. I didn't intend to rip it, of course, but I did want it to be flat without sags.Then I transferred the group across the pond. With the result, I'm quite pleased. I believe I now have a good chance of not only keeping the leaves out of the pond, but also making maintenance with a leaf blower simple. This strategy is much better than fiddling with stakes because I can always slip off the assembly. Yes, it took some time to position the zip ties correctly, but I was prepared for that.I am quite pleased with this net and am eager to see how it works this fall, despite the fact that I am unable to remark on its long-term strength.

This is a fantastic item. Why, as one reviewer said, "did I not do this sooner?" This was just what I needed and it went over the water with ease. To spread it out and secure it, it did need two people. Although I had planned to trim a significant amount of it, the size was actually ideal. I recently installed it, and while I'm curious to see how long it will last, I see no reason why it shouldn't. Around the past ten years, I've lost over 15 very large koi from my pond, including the young who were born there. I just had one giant koi remaining and I recently purchased fresh stock since I didn't want to always have to replace them. We were thrilled to see a fountain made of rocks that looked natural in the front yard of our new house, which was surrounded by trees. Additionally happy were the birds, squirrels, possums, raccoons, frogs, lizards, and toads. It was a wonderland of nature. Up until the time when the forest began to lose its leaves, and all of the leaves in the state seemed to end up in our fountain. My husband was threatening to simply plug the hole with a bamboo plant while I was out there maintaining it every day, dodging forest animals, and trying to understand how the normal person had both A Fountain and A Life.After spending two weekends cleaning with various rake-like instruments while wearing snake boots and gloves and receiving this recommendation from Amazon, we put the net down. We utilized easily accessible forest boulders to hold it down on the patio and cut wire hangers into open staples to attach it in the earth. We simply rolled up the portions of the net that were too large for our needs. And it certainly succeeded in doing its job; it prevented so many leaves from entering the fountain that it was impossible to see what lay beneath the net. However, animals could, and they came to drink all season long. We turned off the fountain, but it continued to fill with snow and rain – there was always something there beneath the canopy of leaves.But I should say that one year, two animals got caught in the net. During an unusual warm spell in December, a sizable garter snake emerged from the rocks; after eating, it became bulkier and was caught in the net. We also had a little bird whose leg was entangled in the net but was luckily able to escape. A pileated woodpecker showed interest in the bulky surplus net, but he was wise enough to avoid putting his huge feet in the wrong spot. On the plus side, the bulky excess net attracted a lot of bug life.Every year when the net comes down, we still have to clean up the debris; bits of leaves, acorns, and walnuts, along with dirt and bugs, contaminate the water, but it might be so much worse. Much better than daily cleaning, two weekends before and two weekends after, cleaning, and a net in the winter. Never bamboo. Additionally, we enjoy seeing animals and birds at our fountain.

Update 4/10/17: The internet is operational! Since installation, there have been no missing fish. Had two visits from raccoons, however despite the damage they caused around the pond and the paw prints they left on the net, they were unable to get to my fish, and the net is still in tact. The Great Blue Heron was also spotted by my wife sitting on our roof and gazing into the pond; she described it as appearing "confused" lol. Fortunately, he undoubtedly noticed the net and is reluctant to approach.the initial postGood news thus far, This is my final chance. I've tried everything, including a sprayer with a spooky motion, mirrors around the pond, fishing line crossed over the pond, and rock hiding places at the bottom of my pond. And still, these annoying Herons continue to escape with my goldfish and koi. The scarecrow has been doing admirably on its own up to this point, but when its battery dies (and I don't know it's dead), my pond will be open for business. I'm hoping that this net will be the deciding factor in my plan to protect my koi. Over the past two years, I've lost at least 30 fish and 4 of my precious koi. We are really pleased that the net is nearly inconspicuous and does not obscure our view of the pond or fish. I've used "clear" fishing line in the past, but it looked terrible. I'm quite pleased with this net so far. If I notice that it has stopped the birds from coming or if it hasn't, I'll update this review. The accompanying photo shows the netting in place, where it is virtually invisible.

Unfortunately, a Japanese maple tree grows right next to my pond, and there are also a number of other big trees nearby whose leaves frequently cover the water. I've had to pick out leaves multiple times a day lately especially just to keep up. At this price, I couldn't pass up the netting.Installation: I stretched this across my pond and waterfall in less than 10 minutes. I only used a handful of the stakes, which are excellent, but because my pond is surrounded by so many pebbles, I reasoned that using more stakes would speed up and simplify installation. It was also quite helpful when extending the net out initially and pulling it taut across the entire pond. This will make it simpler for me to remove a few rocks rather than stakes if I need to quickly access the pond.You receive a fair quantity of netting and stakes for the price, thus the quality seems to be adequate. The netting was simple to stretch and did not appear to lose any strength when drawn taut.

We are determined to enjoy our magnificent goldfish pond despite the fact that we live surrounded by acres of oak trees. I made the decision to test this product after using netting and other types of screening to keep the leaves out of our pond and after reading the reviews. I put this together as my skeptic spouse watched from a comfortable lawn chair. I quickly put it together because the instructions were short and to the point. The netting's transformation into a formed "arched canopy" makes a significant difference in how it manages those troublesome leaves. Now, we only remove them as they land on the area around our pond after sliding from the canopy. The key is to stretch the netting tightly around the object, tuck any extra netting inside, then fasten the canopy to the ground using a few pond rocks. Easy as pie!In spite of the fact that I didn't say, "I told you so," my husband is quite happy. (Even though I wanted to)

I purchased this and constructed a pvc cage that surrounds my koi pond. I needed some assistance to keep my pond clear because the trees around me are attacking it as the seasons change. The white binder that everyone mentions isn't as horrible as some have made it out to be. But this net was twice as big as I needed it to be, which was what I had anticipated. I divided it, and the result was two nets. I merely constructed a pvc cage that surrounds the perimeter of my pond. I then covered it with a net and secured it with zip ties. It is very effective, and my pond is no longer being desecrated by leaves. I chose this method because laying the net on the plants in the pond started to cause them to disintegrate and collapse. Compared to purchasing a ready-made cage, building the pvc one was simple and inexpensive.It was difficult for me to deal with this net because of how BIG it is. My pond is bordered with slate, and the tiny net squares capture the tiny burs in the stone, giving the impression that you are using Velcro. It catches on everything, but it never tears. The best part is that I have a spare net as a backup, so once it's in place I have absolutely no problems with it.

It's a major thing. Even after being tangled up in branches and pebbles, the netting appears to be well-made and durable. Even though the netting is very light, if it is correctly anchored or fastened to a frame, it will remain in place. In the end, I constructed a frame from pvc piping and zip-tied the netting to it. This makes it simple to disassemble everything and store it when swimming season arrives. It has been helpful to prevent leaves from sinking to the bottom and to make pool sweeping simple.The extra netting hasn't even been cut; instead, I've folded it up and tucked it beneath the pvc framing. Although it doesn't look good, it works.When compared to other, more expensive solutions, this was a sensible choice for less than $100. A pool cover cost us many thousand dollars! My buddies took my idea for their pools because they thought it was so easy to accomplish.
