Awesome party tool! Since I'm among the "younger" crowd, things may easily spiral out of control when we get together. I've always been quite interested in DUI regulations. It is odd to have laws that someone might infringe without knowing certain they did. I don't know of many laws that have a strange sliding scale of breaking them and are essentially different for each situation (someone could have one drink and be over the limit, and the person next to them could have three and be well under - neither aware of their legal status!). This is not to say that I think they are wrong or that DUI drivers are somehow victims.I believe it is reckless to operate a motor vehicle after consuming any alcoholic beverage, but I was still quite interested in what one or two beers meant legally (recognizing, of course, that short of a blood test, breathalyzers, especially consumer grade, are not a great indicator of impairment).I bought this in order to at least somewhat satiate my curiosity. I also questioned the sensitivity of these meters. In order to determine the appropriate drink volumes, body weight, BMI, and projected blood alcohol levels, I used an online resource. After a beer or two, this meter was always pretty near! I believed that by blowing more forcefully or more softly, I might be able to cheat the tests, but they were really reliable.My BA level was within.1% even 10 times in a succession, despite the fact that I did not utilize the bluetooth capability. It was amazingly reliable.Additionally, it is SMALL. effortlessly fits in a pocket. It would be incredibly simple and covert to utilize it if someone was worried and went out with pals for dinner or drinks. Because the type I had that connects to the phone is so out of calibration that my 10-year-old was blowing a.03, I bought this as a test offer from BACTRACK.Thanks to PRIME delivery, the device was delivered on time and in excellent shape. The breathalyzer, a storage pouch with six mouthpieces, and two AAA batteries were all inside the packaging when I opened it. Due to the subpar quality of the supplied batteries, I opted to use my own Duracell batteries instead. The supplied instructions basically state that you shouldn't use this device to decide whether you should drive or not, along with a ton of legalese. The instructions are not really necessary to use the device.This tool is exceedingly user-friendly and incredibly accurate, in my opinion. A common complaint is that "FLO" frequently flashes across the screen. We've conducted numerous studies, and we've discovered that this happens when someone adjusts the pressure they exhale via the mouthpiece. We have not encountered any problems when the pressure is steady.The unit's ability to compute BAC so quickly is one feature I really like. My other unit seems to take an eternity (30 seconds or more). This device can calculate in a maximum of 10 seconds. Fantastic!I think this is a fantastic product, especially considering the cost. Although I'd prefer a device that links to my phone and functions just as well, this one will be perfect for the time being.

I bought this keychain breathalyzer for my daughter, a college student. However, I wanted to use it myself first so I could write this review before I gave it to her. So, I holed up at home one evening with a six-pack of Sam Adams (my preferred adult beverage) and a backlog of DVR shows to watch. The sacrifices we Amazon reviewers occasionally have to make.The breathalyzer is keychain-sized, which is incredibly little. (However, I wouldn't hang it from my keychain; instead, I'd tuck it away in my purse or in my car.) You just need to put the supplied AAA battery in, and you're ready to go. The best tip I can give is to ignore the part of the directions that states not to blow too hard. I heeded their advice and simply exhaled forcefully into the mouthpiece for the necessary six seconds. The ensuing 15 minutes of trying to create a baseline reading while continuously receiving an error warning were irritating. Finally, I made the decision to simply try blowing very forcefully, and the breathalyzer recognized my effort. The BACtrack device has two operating modes: a direct display of your immediate reading or the option to download an app and have your data delivered to a smartphone. I decided to stick with the instant readout because I found that to be too difficult.My initial reading showed a BAC of 0, as I would have anticipated. I opened open my first beer after going through all the huffing and puffing of attempting to get the device to operate. I didn't completely chug it, but after 15 minutes, it was gone. My next issue with the gadget was this: The instructions will state that in order to obtain an accurate reading, you must refrain from eating or drinking for 20 minutes prior to conducting the test and that you must perform it in an area free of a noticeable alcohol presence. When you're at a pub or party and want to get home immediately but are unsure if you should drive, it appears to defy common sense as to when you'd actually want to use the breathalyzer in practice. Fair enough, the instruction manual notes that these limitations apply to ALL breathalyzer tests. I'm not criticizing the BACtrack equipment, just pointing out that it's not really practical to have anything to eat or drink for 20 minutes prior to the test. Your BAC may be erroneous if you don't strictly follow the directions, but it will be biased in the right direction—that is, it will underestimate how drunk you are.My BAC was.05 when I used the device just after completing my first beer, which is higher than you may expect based on one beer for a 135 pound lady. But since science demands replication, I persisted and carried out a number of tests while drinking, this time waiting between 10 and 20 minutes before getting the reading. My subsequent readings over the remainder of the evening varied between.06 and.07, which seemed fair considering the quantity of alcohol I was consuming and the fact that I was typically only waiting around 10 minutes after my last drink before trying a reading. I retired to bed after a lengthy evening of science. Three hours later, I woke up to use the restroom (all that beer!). Before I even took a drop of wine, I tested out this useful little gadget that I had acquired. It showed.00. I waited the recommended 20 minutes after drinking three drinks, blew again, and the result was an.08. (I am a female, 5'6", and 140 pounds.) After I blew twice, I gave it to a friend who hadn't had any alcohol to blow into, and it gave him an exact reading (at .00). The product appears to be fairly accurate thus far, and I have no issues at all. It's fantastic to receive a blood alcohol content estimate for a reasonable price. I'll also be giving this as gifts to my friends.

The Keychain Breathalyzer is a truly excellent value, but like any measurement tool, you MUST comprehend a little science and know how to use it correctly.I put the battery in when I initially got this small gadget and went bonkers playing with it while drinking with some friends.The following day, it began acting really strangely. It would turn on, begin to count down, and then abruptly turn off. I could run a test if I left it alone for a few hours, but it was unable to run another test after that. Sometimes when I tried to run a test, I got the "Lo" message. The battery was dead, in my opinion. When I used a volt meter to examine the battery, it didn't appear to be dead at all. I believed I had a lemon... then I purchased a new battery. It's okay now.What's happening is as follows for those who have read the "it worked well the first night, but then it quit on me" reviews:RELIABILITY:This device seems to be power-hungry, and I have a feeling that the AAA battery won't be able to provide it with the power it need right away. As a result, I believe it will need to gently harvest energy when not in use so that it can run a test. It bothered me that the instructions doesn't specifically describe this behavior. Waiting a few minutes between testing is recommended per the instructions. If you don't do this, the battery will actually die. Replace the battery and operate the device appropriately if you played with it nonstop all night long while using a battery that appears to be in good condition. It will work flawlessly. I believe that addressing this in the handbook in a clear manner would reduce the negative reviews I have read.Recognize that a responsible drinker who wants to stay safe is the target audience for this item.
