Glencairn Crystal Whisky Glasses, Set of 4 Review:

"It's a friggin' glass."

That's what I thought, anyway, but decided, hey, if I'm going to be venturing into scotch territory, might as well give these a shot.

Then I said, why not buy 4? Just in case I break a couple.

$25 later, I noticed how small these things are... so the product image is a bit deceiving. No biggie... you aren't going to be filling a tumbler full of scotch anyway.

I am coming from a regular old short tumbler glass. Cheap, works. Good for the nose, works for drinking a dram easily.

The nose on this glass is fantastic. One of the things I enjoy most about Scotch is the nose. It is MUCH more potent and concentrated than an open tumbler glass, and the design makes it obvious as to why. It is a smaller opening as well, which keeps the aroma in the glass moreso than my cheap tumbler.

Drinking from it feels snobby. I'm now snobby. Not much to say about that. =) It almost feels like drinking from the top of those old oil candle glass covers that you usually break as a kid because they were super fragile.

I can't say much about durability yet because I just got them recently. Someone mentioned having the bottoms falling out... I do not see any seams or anything where they just attached them to the glass. It's the only thing I can think of as to why this would happen.

Worth $25 for 4? Probably not. For me, being able to enjoy the nose definitely is. =)

2018/03 UPDATE: After a year, I am still drinking from my first glass. I'm not doing shots and slamming it on the table, so maybe other buyers had faulty glasses? Noticed that some people had some shoddy-looking packaging... mine came in a nice box that I STILL have (mostly because the other three glasses are still in there.) If it comes in a white package, question it. If you get the genuine thing, definitely worth $25 for 4.

Still a fantastic glass to appreciate the nose of a good whisky. A nice stem to hold as well without warming the whisky. Easy to swirl and open up the whisky.

Whisky whisky whisky. =)

20190909 UPDATE: After more than two years, I still have all four glasses. None of them ever broke, although to be fair, I've only used two of them (one for my home office and the other for downstairs). So if you're not a Neanderthal with your glass, this is worth the $25/4.

Glencairn Whisky Glass Set of 4 Review:

I am slowly starting to get into the hobby of whisky collecting. I have been to distilleries in Scotland and Ireland and sampled Scotches, bourbons, and Whiskeys around and from around the world. I have a beginners collection of all different types of whisk(e)ys and bourbons that I pick up whenever I can. Time and time again they are served and sipped out of the Glencairn Whisky Glass. This is the product of that old adage: "necessity is the mother of invention". If you're drinking whisky out of a regular or rocks glass, you're missing out on one half of the entire experience - the bouquet! You truly have no idea what you're missing until you put your spirits in this glass. The large bowl at the bottom allows for ample swirling without the fear of spillage. The heavy chunk of glass at the bottom sits confidently on the table without any fear of tipping. The tall fluted neck allows for the swirl to rise high and open up the whisky and beautifully displays the slow oily legs of your whisky. The fluted neck also, and more importantly, allows for the intense concentration of all the scents to be funneled into a small area and perfectly nosed. If you're used to smelling your whisky from a rocks glass, be warned - this is not the same. Do NOT shut your mouth and breath deep! Hold the glass about 7-10 inches from your nose and allow the scent to waft into your nose unforced, then remove it. Bring the glass about 3-5 inches to your nose and inhale with your mouth open, then remove it. The third nosing is done about ½" away from your nose, again with your mouth open to almost taste the smells. This glass is absolutely essential to the true appreciation of these wonderful spirits. Do NOT add cola, or ginger ale, or handfuls of ice to your single malts!!!!! Pour a dram of the good stuff into this glass, let it sit, mature, open up, release all the aromas that were drawn out of the oak casks years and years prior, and sit awhile with one of life's simple pleasures. BUY THIS GLASS!!!!

Libbey Polaris 16-Piece Tumbler and Rocks Glass Set, Axis Review:

I ordered this glasswear to replace some that I’ve had for a while. They arrived today and I opened the box expecting to find at least one cracked or broken. Well, I was wrong!
This glasswear is A+ heavy quality, great looking and the packaging is second to none. Every piece was perfect and I would order these again tomorrow if need be. Because of the rounded shape I was concerned they may be prone to tipping easily. WRONG again! The weight keeps them steadily upright. So pleased, they’re beautiful!

Riedel O Wine Tumbler Cabernet/Merlot, Set of 2 - 0414/0 Review:

These are basically just a stemless version of the Riedel Wine series glasses. I left a review for the Wine Series Pinot Noir glasses (set of 2), so that review pretty much sums up my opinion of this set as well. Here is the link to that page:

These Pinot Noir glasses are a bit big, so they might not fit or feel right in everyone's hand. I have bigger hands, so for me that is not a problem, but that might not be the case for you, so keep this as a consideration.

All in all, a very good set, especially if you prefer having a glass without the stem.

Clear Glass Woozy Bottles, 12 Oz - Pack of 6 Review:

I ordered these dozen 12 oz woozy bottles because I needed them quick. They arrived next day, and they are the classic sauce 12 oz bottle with caps. Same as my other 12 oz bottles bought from other outlets. Normally I would have ordered from a bottle retailer because this same set would have been about $7 with neck restricter and shrink wrap included. But, these came fast, are nice and clean, already put them through the wash and are boiling them now. Sauce is coming up to a simmer, and will start hot filling these bottles soon. These are the wide mouth style bottle with the long straight neck NOT the sloping neck that only has about 1/2" opening. These bottles have a full 5/8" opening, so most funnels will fit in the neck. Came in the standard corrugated cardboard box with dividers. Thats good, because I like to pack the filled bottles in the same box for transport and resale. Was surprised to see the caps were just tossed in the box rather than being screwed on each bottle. Sloppy. But all in all, these are quality bottles with caps. Can't really find any major fault, so if you need these, go ahead and order. You wont be disappointed.

Optix 20-ounce Plastic Tumblers | set of 8 in 4 Basic Colors Review:

I have these in clear and colors. We use them daily and put them in the dishwasher.
They are thick and have a nice feel in the hand. Easy to hold and easy to drink from. (I have tiny hands, hubby has huge ones) When upside down in the dishwasher the base collects water annoyingly. That is the only thing I don't like (wish the base had a notch or two do water didn't collect)
Some people say there are sharp bits. One or two of ours had that at first (a bit that didn't fall off in manufacturing). I just knocked it off with a sharp knife. For the price it was worth it. They look pretty (nice shape) They are still clear after a year of constant use and abuse and dishwashing (with hot dry) One thing to note - don't stack them when they are hot from the dishwasher or they are hard to pry apart later. The clear surface hasn't gone cloudy yet.

Classic 9-ounce Premium Quality Plastic Tumblers | set of 6 Clear Review:

These cups were purchased to replace some that had started cracking that I bought at Target a couple of years ago. Based on some helpful reviews, we will only be washing these new cups in the dishwasher in the top shelf only in hopes they will last longer. There are 8 of us using these at home so they get washed quite frequently, I'll update my review after a couple of months to let everyone know how they are holding up.

These cups have been getting heavy use by our family of six and many washing on the top shelf of the dishwasher and I can report they all still work and look like new!

****5 MONTH UPDATE******
My family is still using these cups and washing in the dishwasher usually at least once per day and some of the larger cups are starting to break down. Once has a large crack in the top and the other is deforming a bit (almost looks like it melted a little on the rim).

Libbey Classic 16-Piece Tumbler and Rocks Glass Set Review:

I bought these a few years ago and after a few months of usage I switched over to Bormioli Rocco Murano Cobalt glasses, which I have been using since. I like these Libbey's: while they weren't the best choice for me personally, they are good glasses nonetheless.

These are very attractive glasses and they look much nicer than a value glass pack you would find at Ikea or Walmart. The use of smoke color looks really cool, plus it does not show fingerprints nearly as much as a clear glass does. The shapes themselves are great cosmetically & functionally: I like how they move in a conical direction, as the wider top portion makes them easy to hold and harder to slip out of the hands. The sizes are also great...18 and 13 ounces are really nice sizes to have, and the smaller glass still having a 13oz capacity I find makes it more useful than a smaller glass of a lesser capacity.

Additionally, the use of the heavily weighted bottom I find to improve stability in that it makes it harder to accidentally knock these over when the glass is only partly filled. While a minor detail relative to the entire design, I find this is a nice convenience.

The price also deserves you are getting 16 pieces, this is a really good value. The price isn't much more than bargain glasses, but the design of these are MUCH nicer than than bargain glasses. As this is one of those products you will use & interact with every single day, I think that spending a little more money on these will yield you a product you enjoy using much more than a bargain one.

However, I do agree with other users who have noted that the glass at the top portion of these is pretty thin, and I broke two over a few months. It's worth noting that I am hard on glasses, and I wash them through a dishwasher that uses steam to sterilize (which can be very hard on what goes in it.) So I found the very thick Bormioli Rocco Murano glasses to work best for me (and also because they are textured for a little better grip, can withstand hard usage, stack super well, and the thick glass tends to reduce perspiring greatly over thinner ones.)

So while some may find a thicker glass is a better match for them personally (which was the case for me), overall, these are really good glasses.

Cafe 20-ounce Break-Resistant Plastic Restaurant-Style Beverage Tumblers | Set of 16 Clear Review:

I’m reviewing three items I purchased separately hoping they would work together as a set. They did!! These are dishes for my daughter’s new apartment that has very little cabinet space so her stoneware set is just too bulky. So I decided to pick up some Corelleware since it is durable, compact and lightweight. I really thought I would find some items that might “work” together, but never imagined I’d find EXACTLY the right shades of blue to match everything. I guess the Household Goods Gods were smiling on me that day!

#1 - Corelle 18-Piece Service for 6, Chip Resistant, Ocean Blues Dinnerware Set,
These round plates and bowls have a modern yet playful rows of dots along the edge in three shades of blue including navy, periwinkle and teal. The plate itself is bright white. The bowls have a navy blue rim. (In the Amazon pictures it looks black, but it truly does look blue in person.) I have used Corelle dishes for over 30 years and my only complaint is that they last FOREVER! LOL! I mean I love a good value, but I it’s hard to justify spending $$ on “new” dishes when the ones you have still look as good as the day you bought them. Nonetheless, after buying these for my daughter, I am eyeing a new set for myself.

#2 Sweese 6210 Porcelain Fluted Mugs - 14 Ounce for Coffee, Tea, Cocoa, Set of 6, Cold Assorted Colors .
Since the Corelle set did not come with coffee mugs, I looked for some blue ceramic mugs and found these beauties! And, I’m thrilled to report that they complement the Ocean Blues dishes perfectly! (See photo). These are stoneware coffee mugs with an elegant fluted side. The insides is white - not cream or beige. The white is not as bright as the Corelle dishes, but close enough. The mugs have a good weight to them - but not heavy or clunky. Of course they are not Corelleware, and will probably not hold up forever, but they seem to be sturdy to withstand normal use.
The color I ordered says “Assorted” and it arrived very well packaged. Each mug inside a bubble wrap back and in its own compartment in a sturdy cardboard box. As I said, the colors go very well with Ocean Blues dinnerware. Only one mug appears a bit more green than blue - but it’s still in the blue color family. Overall, I LOVE these mugs and at about $4.50 each, they were a bargain!

#3 Cafe 20-ounce Break-Resistant Plastic Restaurant-Style Beverage Tumblers | Set of 16 in 4 Coastal Colors.
To round out my daughter’s dish set, she needed cups for cold drinks as well. She is in college so I wanted unbeakable glasses - but not Tupperware-like plastic. I searched for acrylic drinkware and found these gems. I hadn’t planned on getting 16 cups, but at $1 each, I could not pass these up. They are exactly as their description reads - very much like the glasses used by little mom & pop diners- slightly bumpy texture on the outside with smooth rims and insides. Of course the BEST thing about them for me, was that came in shades of blue that coordinate so well with both the Corelle Ocean Waves and the coffee mugs! Seriously, these dishes look like I bought them as a set together. I really lucked out with these glasses - each in a different shade of blue that just happens to match the Ocean Blues. (Actually, one of the colors is really more of a smoky charcoal. I plan to keep those for my husband to use out in his workshop so he doesn’t keep taking my glass glasses out there.) These cups hold 20 ounces but don’t look or feel huge. After you add 6-8 ices cubes, you can pour a whole 12 ounce can of soda in the cup without it getting to over-flow level.

Libbey Province 16-Piece Tumbler and Rocks Glass Set Review:

Love these glasses, and the company’s customer service went above and beyond. I purchased these glasses because I wanted something simple and more “grown-up“ to replace the plastic cups that I’ve had since college. They arrived quickly, packed well, and looked just as simple as classy as I had wanted. I immediately rinsed them out and placed them in my drying rack, but was disappointed when one had a big chip break off immediately, just from rinsing and drying. I emailed the seller to see if there was anyway to replace the single glass that broke. I was told the new glass would be shipped right away, no extra charge, and it was honestly the easiest customer service interaction I think I’ve ever had. As if that wasn’t enough, and to my surprise, just a couple of days later another complete set of glasses showed up at my doorstep! Thank you so much, Libby, I now have all the glasses I could ever want, and your customer service pretty much made my day. Definitely worth five stars all around.
