I used to play the piano, and now I'm brushing up using this program. Because you may begin at any time and anyplace, I find it more handy than "in person" lessons. It works incredibly well for instruction wherever you are when paired with a compact USB midi keyboard. The software won't turn you into a virtuoso performer, but it will educate you how to play properly so that you can eventually choose to become one. Additionally, learning to play an instrument yourself will significantly increase your enjoyment of listening. When I first had a question for customer support concerning the product, their response far above my expectations. You will receive an updated copy of the "introductory course" and an outdated copy of the "intermediate course," so be aware of that. The "introductory course" is the "extra course" you get from Amazon. Both are excellent regardless of the version.

Overall, the product is beneficial. However, there were two things that bothered me: 1. The video example's extremely small screen, which you can't enlarge. For some of us older people, this is an issue. 2. Because the musical examples are brief, you won't have time to get your violin to your shoulder and your bow into playing position if you try to follow along. The ability for the audio to loop would be useful. EDIT: After reading the docs again, I discovered how to loop on "part" of the example(s) sound. The music will repeat if you hover your mouse pointer over a specific section of the notes. This caused me to raise my rating by one star.

I finally gave in and purchased my violin about a month ago because I've always wanted to learn how to play it. Finding lessons was the next step, so I searched everywhere. The bottom line: Every instructor was in great demand, and a half-hour class cost roughly $30.I estimated that this software would cost roughly the same as one lesson and that I could use it whenever I wanted. My two worries were that it is intended for youngsters and that it is not specified whether it is compatible with Windows 8. Well, it came today and allayed all my worries. After two hours, I just decided to stop using it because it had grown dark outside.There are no issues with Windows 8 compatibility, and the lectures are simple but quite useful. Just two hours later, I now sound and feel a lot more confident. It has some wonderful functions, such as a tuner, and it lets me know if my fingers are resting on the right part of the string (remember that you need a microphone on your computer to use these features). It covers everything, including how to wield a bow, read music, and identify the various violin sections.I just spent two hours with this software that would have cost me anywhere from $90 to $120 with any local teacher. I'm having a great time and saving money. What I require to keep me inspired!

This is not a review; rather, it is informational. On a computer running Windows 8.1, I installed eMedia Piano and Keyboard Method v.3. I ran the software after installation and got the following error message: Script error: 'Director Player Error: Property Not Found - #sound - Continue? Yes/No" Answering "Yes" only kept the message on the screen while "No" ended the application. I contacted eMedia support, who advised me to delete the application, restart the computer, log in as the administrator, turn off any antivirus software, and then reinstall it. After that, I had to get the most recent version of QuickTime from the Apple website. It took some searching to find "the latest"; at the time, it was version 7.7.5. The application functioned properly after doing this. Thanks for eMedia's assistance. I'm writing this here because despite my thorough Google searches, I was unable to find the solution.Regarding the product, I had been using it on another computer but have since uninstalled it and reinstalled it on this one. I like the show so far, which is probably less than 20% of the way through.

I bought this in an effort to improve my singing. It has aided in my realization of the significance of seemingly unimportant things like breathing and posture. I've always had a weak voice, but I believe the lessons and exercises are improving that.The ear training exercises are also greatly improving my ability to sing in tune and on pitch. When I saw their demo film, the fact that the software genuinely listened to me sing and could detect when I was making a fool of myself won me over. I had my doubts, but it really works!I feel bad for the person who was unable to install the program. Without any issues, I logged on to both the PC and my Mac (laptop) in the family room. Oh hey, we are all unique.The songs are somewhat retro, but they are diverse enough for me to practice a few various playing styles, and there are also some background tracks. I purchased some karaoke software to supplement my vocal practice with more modern songs.updated on 11/27Just wanted to add that as I'm getting more into the breathing exercises, they help me maintain notes and have a yoga-like feel (good for overall health).
