In my opinion, spurs should only be used sometimes and by riders who have a still, educated leg. Spurs are not for hitting, punishing, or bullying the horse; rather, they allow for smaller, more precise leg cues. This is why I want modest, rounded spurs without any sharp edges. I wear these all the time because they are incredibly amazing and sparkling. Spur straps are not included if this is your first pair of spurs, so be sure to get some. These spurs make a rather disgusting sound, in my opinion. When they have the jingle-bobs on, they resemble the man who rings the bell in front of supermarkets. Without the jingle-bobs (which I removed right away), the sound is quite pleasant and stereotypically "old west." If you want to make the traditional ching ching ching sound while you walk, you must slow down your stride pace; otherwise, it will only sound like chinglchingchingchhinhnhlhiinhng. Oh, and kids will poke their buddies and point at you like you're some sort of cowboy, while adults will probably simply think you're crazy.
