I used this device for wiring in an automobile. Wires are what they are. The only criticism I have about them is that they were too flexible in my application. I was using them to attach a termination to the wire's end so I could plug it into a plug connector. It was extremely challenging for me to feed the terminated end of this wire through the back of the connector so that it could clip into the connector in the plug (at the front) – about a 3/4" to 1" distance inside the plug head itself. This is a problem I had and still have because waterproof/water resistant plugs are a snug fit. This wire would simply bend and coil up on itself as you attempted to feed it through, unlike most 20 gauge wire, which would easily thread through the back of the plug. As a result, I had to use a small object to help push the terminated end (from the back) all the way forward until it clipped into its slot at the front of the plug. Far from perfect because I probably damaged the wire's covering when trying to feed it through the plug's back. Although the fact that I nicked the insulation shouldn't be a problem because it is "within" the plug, it is far from ideal. If you want ANY rigidity to the wire and insulation for the purposes I have mentioned here, think about using a different wire type.

beautifully wrapped and exactly as promised. Effective and simple to solder. The diameter of the wire/insulation was rather large, which was the only tiny issue I encountered. With my portable, smaller wire strippers, all of the wiring I've used strips neatly, but this one either wouldn't strip in a larger hole or severed part of the strands while stripping in a smaller hole. In the end, the bigger self-adjusting strippers worked better for me.

There are several applications for this stranded wire. The 300v insulation is a benefit, as it solders and tins beautifully. It is quite adaptable (much more so than solid wire). I utilize this particular type of wire for a variety of typical issues that arise.For sporadic electrical projects, I often have a spool of 18 gauge stranded wire in the house. This wire is quite good! I mostly used it to run wires between my house and poles that would hold outdoor party lights. I installed this wire and used tiny turnbuckles to keep it in place before hanging the party lights with zip ties. Even after wind storms of at least 70 MPH (we live in the mountains of Colorado, where strong winds are frequent), the wire holding the lights up has not strained or sagged over the course of a few months.When I worked as an ironworker, we tied rebar together for concrete reinforcement using 16 gauge tie wire. This wire's galvanized coating has withstood the elements for the few months it has been exposed to, and it cuts and handles quite similarly to tie-wire.The remaining I'm using for miscellaneous tasks, including guying off an outside Christmas tree on our deck.Tie wire is delivered securely wound on a reel for usage, although the coil is bumpy. With little prodding, the wire can lie out straight thanks to this thicker, smoother coil.Very happy.

When working with multiple wire groups that are unsleeved, it is rather inconvenient to have to double-check that the orange wires I'm about to wire to the power supply connector are indeed the ones connected to their devices' red wire lines. I used three rolls of this wire to do a significant landscaping project, and I can attest that the quality is on par with wire from big-box retailers. A few irate folks claimed that the cable was to blame for their lights not working, but I think the low voltage waterproof connectors they were using were the real culprit. Some waterproof landscape wire connectors are ideal for wire widths 12/2 to 16/2, but many of the led landscaping light wires sold on Amazon have wire sizes of 18/2 or more, therefore they are too large for those wires. I've run into this issue quite a bit.Here is how I would resolve this:Before attaching a 9-volt battery to this wire, the low voltage light fixture must first be checked. Each bare wire coming from the light should be connected to a 9 volt battery, with one wire going to the positive ( ) side and the other to the negative (-) side. You won't get startled because a 9-volt battery has such a low charge. The light ought to turn on. If it doesn't, either your 9-volt battery is dead or the light may be broken.2. Attach a low voltage transformer to this low voltage cable.3. Using two connections for each light, attach the light to this wire. (Since every brand is unique, I am unable to describe how exactly yours operates. If you're unsure, you can likely find a YouTube video on how yours operates.)4. Into a 110 outlet, plug the low voltage transformer and low voltage wire. The "connector" didn't make a solid connection if the light doesn't turn on. Replace the connector, then put the transformer back into the outlet.If the light still won't turn on, you most likely have the same issue I frequently run into. The wire from the light is too small for your connector to make a connection with, even if your connector is likely connecting with this wire just fine.In order to fix the problem, I stripped off about 1/3" of the light wire's protective coating and then twisted the wire back on itself, leaving a bare wire on both the outside and the inside of the covering. When reconnecting the exposed bare wire, make sure it is entirely encased inside your waterproof connector.
