I've never encountered a "poor" product that was old, rotten, or contained something other than what was specified on the packaging, etc. Simply gently squeeze a bag's seal to make sure no air escapes, which would suggest a potentially less-than-fresh experience. They prominently mark products that are gluten-free or otherwise suitable for those with special dietary requirements.
