Electric gates do not use a great deal of electricity. In fact, most electric gates are designed to be very efficient. Many people believe that electric gates are expensive to operate, but this is not the case.
To keep your wooden gate from sagging, you'll need to check the hinges and screws regularly to make sure they're tight. You may also want to add a support brace to the middle of the gate to help prevent sagging.
The cost of a gate door will vary depending on the size and material. A small wooden gate door may cost around $100, while a large metal gate door could cost over $1,000.

I had an old weathered wooden gate, and although I once thought it was charming, recently I painted the adjacent walls, and the gate just looked worn out and it was time to get rid of it.The plastic gate is incredibly simple to construct and arrived swiftly. They already had self-tapping screws, but to prevent drift, I bored a 1/16-inch pilot hole wherever I planned to place a screw. The plastic pieces are very tightly interlocked, preventing any rattling when the gate is in use. It feels reasonably solid, albeit not as sturdy as a genuine wood gate, but it recently withstood a windstorm here in Arizona without any damage. The gate was still there even though the wind was powerful enough to topple and damage enormous carports. It is attractive, tidy, and simple to maintain.Keep in mind that no mounting hardware is included. Even though the hinges take up the space where the screws in one corner would be, it does come with screws to assemble the four corners, which is unusual because you would then have a square of plastic without a place to go. They include a lot of screws, but I only used two of them from the set.I purchased the National Hardware N343-475 DPV879 Self-Closing Gate Kit in Black. If it had included mounting hardware, I would have given it a perfect rating of 5, but it is a bit pricey for chopped PVC square stock. It's basically a bunch of plastic pieces with holes, and while I believe the price is a bit high considering what it is, it was the cheapest I could find.Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the gate's appearance, durability, and simplicity of construction and installation. Would have like to spend less than $100.

Because it was cheaper and shipped more quickly on Amazon than it was at Lowes, I decided to buy this item there. In order to drive a car onto my back patio, I needed a single gate that was almost 8 feet wide. This was quite effective and relatively simple to setup. A second set of hands and a few tools that most people probably already own are required. All of the necessary components were available, and the directions were straightforward. I have used this in its smaller form for three additional gates, and I STRONGLY advise spending the money on a wooden fence gate. To have a flush mount on the fence, all you might need to do is attach an additional 2x4 to the front of this. For optimal security, I advise using hex-head deck screws and at least two 8-foot 2x4s. The rest should be handled by a drill, drill bit, and standard hand tools. I suggest squeezing the cable with a vice grip.

For my application, this product easily spanned a 61" gate opening.I had no trouble following the directions, and many of the complaints in the negative reviews about incomplete or confusing instructions were almost verbatim addressed in the directions I received. As an illustration, make sure you use the correct side by the hinges so that the cable attachment hole is at the top. This indicates that the manufacturer must have read many of the other reviews because I had no trouble doing so.To hold the completely expanded top portion of the gate to the latch side post while the hinge side was linked to the hinge, I discovered that the 2x4s needed to be cut approximately 5.75 inches shorter than the total span of your gate opening. It was also beneficial to position a 1x4 board against the latch side post. As a result, I was able to simply estimate the width of the 2x4s that needed to be cut and have a 3/4 in gap on the latch side of the gate. There is virtually no other method to fully lengthen the bars while maintaining their position. The extensions are typical square-stock size, as stated in another review, thus they do not fit firmly together and must be screwed into the 2x4 to have any rigidity. The instructions state that there should be an inch of space on the side of the latch, however there seems to be no need for it as the 1x4's depth seemed more than sufficient. The self-tapping hex head screws required to attach the latch pin are all that are truly left to remove from that side. In addition, you may always attach some of your gate material so that it hangs over the gaps, which, in my opinion, allows for a gate with more than adequate privacy. After cutting the 2x4s, I used clamps to hold them in place while I assembled everything. In contrast to previous reviews, I thought the hardware was of a fair quality, but I still utilized some of my own star-drive decking screws for the most of the job. The self-tapping screws for the lock plate have hex heads, for which I have a drill bit, but you would find them difficult to use if you didn't. They fit well with my drill. Additionally, I discovered that the cable and turn-buckle setup worked perfectly; even with a 5 foot gate, I still had more than enough wire.Additionally, I discovered that the instructions for the hinges (for an inside swinging gate) instructed me to screw them in until an inch of the hinge protruded; however, if I do this, the gate will not be able to swing in so that it is "perpendicular" to the gate opening because the hinge clamps will run into the 4x4 or 6x6 inch post. I discovered that turning the hinges out 1.25 inches resolved this issue.Overall, I have a gate structure that is very square, strong, and simple to swing. It would be ideal if the square stock extensions had tighter tolerances so that you could truly "tune a gate" more easily rather than having to set up some clamps to get an accurate measurement. This is why I took away one star from the review. You cannot genuinely judge how well your gate will fit until you have precisely measured and cut 2x4s.

Because we are caring for my great-grandson and the residence needed to meet a number of regulations, we needed a compatible pool fence and gate. We received quotations of up to $3500 for the 40 feet of fence and gate we required after making multiple inquiries to local fence installers in the area. I came upon the Xcel fence components while perusing Amazon. I placed an order for the eight sections, a gate, and free prime shipping that I required for 40 feet. By the way, you can receive a nice discount on the pieces when you order 8 or more of them. All 9 boxes of the shipment, which came from a local supplier, arrived in about two days. When I opened the box, the gate parts and the instruction booklet were both carefully packed. The measurements on the instruction page were wrong, as I quickly discovered, but fortunately, there was an addendum with the exact measurements. If you plan to fasten the post to a concrete slab, you must connect brackets to the posts, cut the post, and attach a plate; otherwise, the post will go into a hole that is dug with a post hole digger. After inserting the post, fill the hole with a 50 lb bag of post hole cement and follow the directions for adding water. You add the rails when the posts are in place and spaced in accordance with the directions. Depending on the style you chose from the instruction page, place one at the bottom and two towards the top, or vice versa. The pickets simply clip into the grommets on the rails when the rails are in place; they don't require any screws or bolts. The pickets can either be installed concurrently with each piece or after all the sections have been put in place.Although I was worried about the work involved because I'm 63, I quickly discovered that even by myself, the fence was simple to put together. It is a well-made fence that is also well-designed. It is a very good fence choice for the DIYer on a tight budget, while it cannot replace a professional fence installation that is welded in place and tailored to fit the area exactly.Anchor bolts, plastic caps, screws, and brackets are all included; unfortunately, concrete is not.A post hole digger, hammer drill, level, tape measure, metal-cutting chop saw to trim the posts going on concrete and rails if a part ends up being shorter, as well as the typical hand tools, are required as tools. The Bosch 12 volt LiOn drill and impact driver came in very handy for me. Power Tool Combo Kit from Bosch CLPK22-120Additionally useful would be a helper.

I'm in awe that I was able to have the ideal gate delivered right to my door! The gate is strong and well-made, but not overly so. It was simple to install, and it performs well. The coated wire in black that is large enough for my garden wagon to fit through appeals to me. The gate is gorgeous! I'm glad I had the idea to look it up on Amazon.

Two of these were installed as a dual gate on my 11-foot-wide driveway. encountered a few issues and had to alter certain specs and components to make it fit.- Twisted post: One of my wooden posts, which have been in place for 12 years, is somewhat bent, but I don't want to replace it because it is well inserted into the concrete drive way and digging it out would be messy. The corner plate with a hook on it that came with this gate serves as the post side hinge; otherwise, my gate wouldn't be straight and rotating one side would cause it to lean downhill while turning another side upward. I had to purchase a 5/8 at Lowe's as a result "the j-lag screw hinge. Use a line to draw a true straight line on the post, and secure it to a weighty object. 1/2 before drilling "I was able to attain a fairly straight position by drilling a hole as straight as feasible despite the post's twisted plane and attaching a j-lag screw hinge. The 5/8 "The provided eye hinge from the gate and the j-lag screw hinge fit together properly.- Floor not level: My concrete drive way is graded away from the foundation, so if I measured the middle of both posts, it would come out not level. Eventually, I would have an uneven gap from the floor to my fence board, and if I opened the gate widely, it might occasionally strike the floor. To line everything up perfectly and ensure that the two gate frames met at the same point and that nothing would hit the floor or appear excessively high or low, I had to use a line and a line level to determine the true matching points between the two posts and the most compatible points of the two.Other than the aforementioned issues, the frame is excellent, the hardware seems enough to me, and I added an extra cable clamp and thimble to each side. When I finished installing the 2x4s, the gate frames were perfectly aligned, but after I screwed on the boards, one side did drop by approximately 1/8" ", and no matter how I turned the turnbuckle, it would not move back. My recommendation is to wait to attach the lock and drop down rod until the boards are completely installed.

OK, let's just talk about the likes. This was probably the best pricing for a fairly cheap temporary type fence, given how pricey ALL fences can be. prevents the dog from digging in my wife's garden. Dislikes. I wouldn't need all five to complete the task, but I would be pleased if they offered single wall panels in addition to the five-pack option. Secondly, what if they offered panels that were only half the length? Sell 1.5 foot lengths as well as 3 foot lengths, perhaps, to better meet the needs of small spaces. Other than that, it works well for what it is intended to do—gates, fence panels, etc.—and is easy to install. However, to increase stability, the stakes could be made a little longer.
