Most dashcams will automatically turn on and start recording when you start your car. However, there are some that will stay on and continue recording even when your car is parked. This can be useful if you want to keep an eye on your car while it’s parked or if you want to record an event that happens while your car is parked.
Dash cams can be mounted on the dashboard in a number of ways. Some use suction cups, some use adhesive mounts, and some use magnets. The best way to mount a dash cam will depend on the make and model of the camera and the dashboard itself.
Yes, a dash cam can get you in trouble. If you are pulled over for a traffic violation and the officer sees that you have a dash cam, they may be more likely to ticket you.
Yes, a dash cam can absolutely prove speeding. If you have the right dash cam model and it is properly installed, any speeding incidents will be well-documented. This footage can be used as evidence in court, if necessary.

The dash cam seems to be quite well made, which pleasantly surprised me. Although it isn't hefty, it feels substantial in the hand and robust. Additionally, it appears to have quite simple functionality. Without consulting the user manual, I was able to turn it on and start recording, which is excellent because the manual is essentially useless. Oh, and it's useless without a memory card because it doesn't come with one. Even though they warn you up front that the battery is only meant for video backup and that the camera is not designed to operate on battery, the battery only lasts a few minutes. Overall, I'm happy with it and may get a second one.

I have never owned a dash cam before, so this is the only one I have any experience with.Simply take it out of the package, stick it on your window, connect the power wire, and you're ready to go. You attach it to the camera and put it in the back of your car if you wish to use the rear camera. If your car isn't very big, you should have plenty of room to deal with the camera's incredibly long wire for attaching the rear camera (I have a Nissan Leaf). The quick and dirty installation of the rear camera took me around 20 minutes in total. I used a combination of hook and loop tape and duct tape. Obviously, it would be better to route the cables behind pillars and/or the headliner, but I preferred utility to aesthetics. The fact that both cameras' USB connections are located on top of the camera, which results in cables sticking out of the tops of the cameras, is the only significant problem I have with the way the camera installs. This means that unless you bend them, they will hit the window. While this isn't a big concern, I believe that having the ports at the bottom would have made more sense. This camera will be mounted to my rearview mirror using a different mount that I'm getting in the mail, which will address the issue with the front camera but not the back. Due to the high lightness of both cameras, bending wires may place undesired tension on them, among other things.Functionality - The camera is rather simple to use, and its four buttons on the back allow you to access and modify its settings. The top button serves as both the primary menu button and a "SOS" emergency record button. In essence, you only need to push it for the camera to begin recording automatically in an emergency. My only complaint is that this button initially switches to the SOS function when the camera is turned on (you can tell it's the SOS function because it has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside of it), and you have to wait a few seconds for the SOS icon to go away before it switches to the menu function. Not a significant concern, but frequently when I wanted to enter the menu, I only waited a short while and got the SOS feature instead. The options are quite obvious once you're inside the menu; you just use the up/down arrows to scroll through and the check mark button to select, etc. The number of frames per second (30, 60, etc.), whether the camera displays the front or back or both front and rear in picture-in-picture mode, automatic time off limitations, impact sensitivity, and other settings are all changeable. You don't have to have the rear camera attached if you don't want to because you can utilize the front camera on its own.I've included a forward-facing video and a few photographs of the camera that is mounted on my Leaf. I'm aware that they are a little dark (I could not attach more than one video, so I could not include a rear facing video). Although it could just be me, the rear camera nearly looks to have greater resolution than the front one does. The camera's default setting of 30 frames per second left me disappointed with the image quality. Although the video I've included is at 60 frames per second and looks much better, it still doesn't meet my expectations for HD resolution, and my phone can produce films of higher quality. I haven't yet changed the camera's aperture or width settings, but I don't think it would significantly affect the quality. The quality is more than sufficient to determine who was at fault in an accident, if a light was red or green, etc., so this isn't a big concern. But once more, I feel like the video quality from the rear camera is much better (which is a good thing). After setting up the camera, I changed the impact setting from its default value of medium to the maximum option. On the highest sensitivity setting, I discovered that the camera was actually overly sensitive because it activated at the smallest disturbance or bump in the car. I changed it back to medium, and in my experience, it appears to work the best. The camera records for three minute intervals and saves them, so a fresh movie is begun every three minutes. When using both cameras, footage from each is captured simultaneously, and when you check the videos, they are designated as "A"

The dash camera was really well wrapped, and the image quality and clarity are excellent. I also truly appreciate the product's high caliber and flawless design. The front dash cam's camera could be rotated 360 degrees and was simple to switch between the front and back. It also had a convenient snapshot button. The cords are long enough for your car, the instructions are straightforward, and once you've set up the dash cam and downloaded the APP onto your device, you can start using it.I installed and ran the cable through the car in 15 minutes.Sincerely, you deserve it; it's a very wonderful product.

At night, the image quality is rather nice. Although the camera lacks night vision, it makes up for it with WDR and HDR functions. (Note: Unlike mine, make sure the interior of your windshield is clean.)The dash camera came packed extremely well. Stylish design with a matte black finish. This is how a dash camera ought to look—uncomplicated and sleek. It features a great 3' in display screen; it is not touch-enabled, but having a large screen to use for menu navigation is nice. The directions, which are available in several languages, are rather straightforward. The provided wires are long enough to neatly wrap around the automobile. If you just have one cigarette lighter outlet, the charging cord that comes with it has a built-in USB charging connection, which is wonderful. Two separate mounts are provided: one is a suction cup and the other is a sticky pad. To acquire the ideal angle, the suction cup mount contains two adjustment nobs that are incredibly simple to use. When locking the suction cup in place, the suction mount features a twist to secure function that I enjoy. There are several wonderful functions incorporated into this camera, like motion detection, seamless loop recording, and parking monitor, and the interface is simple to use.I installed and ran the cable through the car in approximately 15 minutes.Outstanding small dash camera! The video quality on Amazon is appalling. You can find video samples on YouTube. The video is really high res and smooth, not the same quality as what the dash camera records.

The dashcam from APEMAN is a great deal. If you don't require any very sophisticated capabilities, this small camera should be more than adequate. In fact, it makes it difficult to defend the purchase of anything better.Compared to other, larger dash cams, this one is smaller and DOES take 128 GB MicroSDXC cards. (Even though I went to the trouble of formatting it to FAT32, the camera still asked me to format it. It was formatted to exFAT by the camera. Therefore, avoid using FAT32.)- SIMPLY WORKS. Once plugged in, it immediately functions. Simply press the top button to start and stop recording.- comes with a very long cable as well as a short cable to make installation simpler.- Suction cup mounting is quite effective.Cons: - The camera contains a Micro USB port for charging and a Mini USB port for connecting to a computer, both of which are completely unnecessary. The provided cables are MICRO USB and will not fit in a Mini USB port, so be aware of that.- This product page's statement that "Max 32GB Micro SD card" is accurate is false. (I purchased 32GB cards, assuming my 128 wouldn't function. (Money wasted...)- Due to the 1080p quality, the file size is substantial. I generated 11 files totaling 4.05 GB during my 33-minute ride. Therefore, you can only record for roughly 4.5 hours on a 32 GB card. Before the loop overwriting begins, the capacity of a 128 GB card should increase to almost 18 hours. That translates to about 16 days of driving history in my instance, compared to just 4 days with a 32 GB card.In addition, this camera only records video in 3-minute segments. Although I'm sure there is a technical explanation for this, it appears strange to me.- Depending on your arrangement, the (long) supplied cable's 90° right angle Micro USB connector may not look very attractive.- The Date

This dash cam is quite good. Over the past few years, I've owned numerous dash cams from various manufacturers. I would really suggest this one because it is by far the greatest yet. It is simple to install and use, packed with functions such as parking guard, G-sensor, loop recording, and outstanding picture quality in all lighting circumstances. These days there are so many idiots driving that I wouldn't be without a high-quality dash cam. The picture quality is perfect, and the night vision is crystal clear. After installation, it functioned well and soundly, and so far I haven't encountered any problems. There is no need to be concerned about removing old records or running out of memory because it is on a loop recording. Overall, a great product that I'm pleased to endorse.

Installation is simple. The power cord leaves at the top in the direction that it travels, so there is no need to loop it around the side before disappearing into the headliner. As HD performance is not advertised and is left as an unknown, the lack of lettering or marking on the front keeps it discreet and makes it unworthy of theft. excellent video quality for the price. Good lens; no discernible fish-eye effect. Because of Aukey products' excellent fit, finish, and functionality, I took a chance on their camera. not dissatisfiedCons: The 3M sticky pad is white, not black as it is depicted attached in the photo. A silk-screened dot pattern around the mirror on Hondas helps to conceal this to some extent, but for other vehicles, it lessens stealth. There should be a second mounting clip provided to make switching between vehicles easier, but only one is offered despite the abundance of additional complimentary mounting and installation accessories. Bright things have less color saturation. At close ranges, tag resolution is just fair but still adequate given the cost. The "save" button lacks any distinctive indicators; ideally, it would be red or tactilely distinct. Screen is small (but so is camera). You'll most likely need to remove the SD card and replay in a laptop if there is an accident.Buying a vinyl siding removal (zip) tool is a good idea. Excellent video quality is present. I first had a few minor issues getting the memory card and camera to cooperate, but I was able to figure out the issue on my own. For at least 8 hours of video, a 64 gigabyte memory card ($20 more on Amazon) is necessary. If connected to a power outlet that is turned on by the ignition key, operation is entirely automatic. Even though it seems to take a while for a download to finish, I like the Wi-Fi option to wirelessly download video to my iPhone. The iPhone's picture quality is excellent, and it gets even better when seen on a computer screen. I recently purchased a second camera in order to leave one permanently installed in each car based on my experience with the first. If a crash video reveals that the other driver was at fault, the insurance will be quite affordable. Additionally useful for catching foolish highway manoeuvres.7/25/18. I regret including a video clip after reading the review on Amazon. It appears to have been compressed because the clip's quality is quite low when viewed on full screen. The quality of videos is 1000 times greater when they are downloaded to a computer or smart phone.

I was sued for $4000.00 by another driver eight years ago. I wasn't at blame for the collision. I didn't even move. The lawsuit took three and a half years to resolve! I could have shown my innocence if I had a dash cam at the moment.Since that event, I have purchased dash cams from numerous different manufacturers. They were all successful for a brief period of time before failing altogether. The WheelWitness HD Pro was the last thing I came across. These are currently in both of my cars, and many of my friends have them too as a result of the YouTube video I made of a later accident.I was struck by a motorist that ran a red light at the start of August 2016. The person who hit me said that he didn't think the collision was his fault after I phoned 911 and the traffic light changed multiple times. After a few days, my insurance provider called to inform me that his attorneys are alleging that I was at blame. The other driver was not informed that I was using a WheelWitness Pro dash cam. I then instructed the insurance representative to watch the accident's YouTube footage. The moment she viewed the video, she literally yelled! That's a 99% case closed if I've ever seen one, she remarked. Why not 100%, I questioned. We never guarantee 100%," she retorted. In less than two weeks, the case was resolved. Nothing further was said after that. WOW.One thing to say about the WheelWitness guys: they have always been a pleasure to work with. Even in the sweltering summer heat, their cameras have never failed me or my buddies. Even though the camera is in full sunshine as I approach the intersection in the video, you can still make out the traffic signal. (Please note that YouTube's resolution is lower than that of a real camera.)Without it, I never leave the house. I bring the Wheel Witness Pro with me when I travel. The video demonstrates how the camera can be installed in only five minutes and how well the travel suction cup holds its position. At 45 mph, the driver of the other vehicle struck me! In contrast to most cameras, this one did not even flicker before falling off.The best insurance I've ever bought was this camera.Consider this: How much would an insurance company pay for the dash cam film if I had been the second person in line at the red light? I'm curious...YouTube video from August 9, 2016: youtu.be/1gYpcmeLWZA

I looked into ways to hard-mount my Roav A1 dashcam to the stem of the rear-view mirror because I didn't want to rely on suction or adhesives to hold it in place. This kit worked as intended. A good toothed bracket for the mirror stem, a silicone strap that I DID NOT use (wrapping six inches of electrical tape has the same effect, with the added benefit of adhesive), and a few ball joints for flexible positioning are all included. I guess the industry doesn't have a standard for these things. It was just what I wanted to be able to put my camera offset to the right, partially hidden by my rearview mirror but yet with access to the camera controls. The vendor has been proactive in their communication, which makes me happy, and the package was safe.Recommendations for installation Regarding the electrical tape, see my note. Additionally, avoid applying excessive pressure to the tightening knob or butterfly nuts because doing so will only result in the destruction of plastic. Be patient in your search for the ideal location, then set it and forget it!
Yes, you can watch your dash cam live. This can be useful if you want to see what is happening behind you while you are driving. You can also use it to record events that happen while you are away from your vehicle.
Yes, police can turn off their dash cams, but there is usually a specific protocol that must be followed. In most cases, an officer must notify their supervisor that they are going to turn the dash cam off. There may also be a specific reason why the officer is turning the dash cam off, such as if they need to speak to a confidential informant.
There is no definitive answer, as insurance companies have different policies. However, some companies may give a discount for having a dash cam, as it can help with accident claims.
Most dash cameras will hold footage for around 24 hours. This is because they have a built-in looping feature that records over old footage. However, some dash cameras come with a SD card that will hold footage for a longer period of time.
There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on personal preferences and the specific needs of each driver. Some people prefer to have a dashcam in the front so that they can see what is happening in front of them, while others prefer to have a dashcam in the back so that they can see what is happening behind them. Ultimately, it is up to the individual driver to decide which location is best for their needs.
