My Kubota RTV has a 4500 lb Warn winch, but there are no circuit protection guidelines in the Warn installation manual. Circuit protection is NOT AT ALL mentioned in the instructions. Since the winch can draw up to 300 Amps with maximum exertion and I dislike electrical circuits without fuses or C.B.s, I built this to safeguard my vehicle and investment. The installation uses 4 ga wires, which implies there is a significant risk of fire and, if not fused, the loss of the car. The clear plastic cover's lack of a more secure attachment than the basic "tabs" that clip into the base is my sole issue. That is taken care of by wrapping the entire assembly in Ty-Wraps. My endeavor to put a backup camera in my car went smoothly. Without the lack of instructions on which fuse hole was which and the fact that it simply arrived in a plastic bag, I would have given it five stars. Which of the two spaces to use required me to use a meter. The additional fuse for the new circuit is the outer one directly across from the cable hanging down. The original fuse that you removed in order to insert this wire should be placed in the slot that is closest to the plug-in that connects to the fuse block.I didn't know these existed before I watched an installation video where a guy utilized them, so that's how I obtained them!Even though it could be a little too tight in the little ATM/mini ATM fuse blocks used in contemporary autos, I really like the correct angle element of this.Since I don't have heated seats, I didn't attach the heated seat fuse in my photo, even though it was rated for a higher amperage than I'm using. Nissan did a terrific job there and in the other locations in the trunk lid where I ran wires for my project—there are no rough edges! The picture I gave is the easiest way to run the positive wire and passes through a ground point (mounting bracket), but there are no sharp edges.

-I like that there are built-in wire clamps and that wire ends don't need to be crimped with terminals.-The top cover can be a little challenging to snap into place, particularly if your wire doesn't run directly into the fuse holder and touches the cover, or if the base of the holder has any stress or twist from an uneven mounting surface. Small tabs on the cover keep it in place, although it would be preferable if they connected more strongly.-I used a self-tapping screw to hold the fuse in place after drilling a hole in the center of the base. The wire must be removed or installed in order to put the device in the factory mounting locations, which call for access to both sides of the terminal blocks.Other fuse alternatives when ordering would be helpful. I'm utilizing this with 4ga wire, but for my application, I'd like to run a fuse that is less than 150A.

The InstallGear 8/10 Guage AWG in-Line AGU Fuse Holder seemed appealing to me. It's constructed out of what appears to be high-quality plastic. Even some of the more costly fuse holders, like this one, are made of brittle plastic, but it appears that the plastic used in this one is of good quality. I believe it's significant given that the plastic gets heated where my own is located. The plating on the screwdowns appears to be adequate and they are also of great quality. The fuse is the same. Given the pricing, I believe it might replace Monster Cable as my preferred brand of automotive audio cables and accessories. I'll have to look over their other offerings.

This item was used as a small boat navigation light. I still wanted something to assist protect the fuse from the elements even though it will be enclosed inside the console. This appears to be effective. The cap appears to seal quite tightly. would repurchase.
