I bought these to be more visible to automobiles as I commute to and from work every day. Even in the afternoon, the lights appear better than I had anticipated. After twilight, they really look cool. They are really bright and take less than five minutes to install. They protect me. Without them, I find it impossible to fathom riding my bike at night. These spokes come with nipples that are 14mm long. Make sure your spokes are the proper size. In order to avoid running out of thread during tensioning, I needed a length 2 mm shorter than the spoke calculator suggested. The black coating, which is really paint, gets scratched up while lacing and particularly when tensioning. I've had no issues using these on one wheel for several months. We'll see how they perform with this set of wheels.

These spokes were installed since my old ones were breaking for no apparent reason. Later, I learned that my bike's stock spokes were defective during the years that it was being made. These spokes provide a much more substantial feel while remaining rather light. I'll update this post in about a year to let you know how they've held up. These spokes will take a beating because I now weigh 320 pounds. The other ones didn't begin to break until they had more than 1000 miles on them, so once more, I'll post again either in a year or when the first spoke breaks. I've already put 20 to 25 miles on them without incident (whichever comes sooner)

On my bicycle, I have a set of green lights. I like the way it makes the bike look. I bought the purple set for my daughter's new bike because I loved mine so much. The lights are excellent, however I did have one that wouldn't turn on (she didn't take a picture of her bike). After numerous lengthy trips around the neighbourhood, they even came with replacement batteries for each light, although we haven't needed to use them yet. These are popular enough with my kids that they are attempting to incorporate them into their Halloween costumes. Excellent for commuter safety in the evening and early in the morning. They mount securely between the spokes out near the rim, or you can use the provided zip-ties to mount them closer to the hub. I might purchase a few more sets for quick presents.

For the spoke length, I utilized #1 wheel building and a second source as well. When I purchased spokes, I didn't care about the rim or the finished product; all that mattered to me was that they were the exact length I had specified. I hoped they would lace into wheels with some flexibility, not scrape off coating when they crossed each other, and have strong, smooth threads and perfectly fitting nipple sets. They exceeded my expectations, and there were no fit or wheel-build concerns. The black finish on the spokes is really pleasing to me. Although they are not as flexible as SS spokes, they are built of stronger and lighter materials overall. I don't need spoke flex to be a suspension component because my bicycle has complete suspension. I favor them to be powerful and light. I have an all-weather bicycle. I do take the effort to apply a small amount of Boeshield to my nipples. They are still adjustable like jewels. However, in all honesty, after a few months of punishment, the wheels still stay straight and true, and I haven't had to do any adjusting aside from making sure they were still tweakable.
