It has only been used once, but it works well. The grit is somewhat coarse, and if you don't continuously rocking the dresser back and forth, the wheel will develop fine grooves. This problem is resolved by keeping the dresser in motion, and a light touch also helps. My 100 grit wheel wasn't in the best condition; it had edges that were rounded, one edge that had a groove, and a slope from one edge to the other. The precise truing up of my wheel just took a few minutes.The nut is loose, according to other users. I used locktite on the threads and tightened the nut because I was having the same problem. No more problems.

I had underestimated how wide the face was. It is approximately 1 "wide. With the side guards attached, it barely fits my grinder. You can observe the wires spreading out after around two minutes of extremely light use. Not really pleased about that.When brand-new, my grinder had a 3500 RPM rating. The brush didn't seem to vibrate and seemed to be rather well balanced. The thing you are attempting to clean will be pulled by what appears to be an aggressive bite. For tiny objects, it might not be all that wonderful.It has a 5/8" arbor and an 8" diameter. Plastic inserts are provided to allow the arbor to be adjusted to 1/2 ". All images were taken after two minutes of very minimal use. After using it frequently for a while, I started to appreciate the bigger face and saw that the wires were no longer spreading. I hope you found this useful.

I looked for a solution after reading all the negative reviews, and I firmly feel I have found it! The Raptor R3X Grinding Wheel Bushing 2 Piece Set is offered for sale by Craft Supplies USA. You can purchase this superbly constructed flange with an attached bushing to fit either a 1/2" or 5/8" motor shaft. It comes in two pieces: one piece for the flange that connects to the busing and another piece for the flange that connects to the opposite side (I did not use this, but rather used the original inner flanges for the grinder). Although the bushing is just 3/4" long, it fits a 1" wide wheel without any issues (the wheel I ordered is 6x1x1). Because the previous owner of my 1920s grinder had used only large washers as flanges on the outside of the wheels, I bought two of these sets. I ordered the sets first, and when they arrived, the Norton wheel, I was prepared to go. I am very happy right now!!!! Since everyone appears to agree that the supplied plastic bushings are not the best, I didn't waste my time with them. I removed them and then inserted the new Raptor bushing flange before grinding it. I doubt there is even a 1/32" variance to be dressed because there was NO WOBBLE as so many people had claimed, and it was so perfectly round (actually, I think it is less than that—maybe 1/64"). WOW! Very happy! In terms of shipping, I only ordered the wheel so that it would be the only item in the Amazon package and avoid colliding with anything else. There was no room for movement in the box because it was shipped in a container akin to the one Amazon uses to ship books. It arrived in flawless shape. I really feel that the Raptor R3X Grinding Wheel Bushing 2 Piece Set is the solution. Yes, it costs more, but it is well worth not having to deal with so many problems with any grinding wheel you would purchase that comes with plastic bushings.
