The AutoLine Pro EVAP Vacuum Automotive Smoke Machine Leak Detector Diagnostic Tester was something I bought (machine). My car was having trouble starting, and a code reader I had suggested there was too much air in the gas mixture. I look through the hoses for a vane leak. I had two options: either I could diagnose the problem myself with the smoke machine for a little bit extra to buy and hope I missed a hose, or I could take the car to a mechanic who would charge $100 (or possibly more).Although there were no problems with the equipment, I did carefully read the brief setup instructions because misuse of the device could result in harm. Do not operate the equipment for longer than 10 minutes, per the instructions. It does get really warm. But it took me no longer than three minutes to find the problem locations. I was unaware that I would need to use an air compressor, but since I already have one, there is no issue (it was presumably stated elsewhere in the advertising). You only need to get to about 20 to 30 pressure, despite the fact that the instructions say you can go up to 100 psi. Although I'm not a mechanic, I don't think you should go much more than 30 psi. Two problem areas were found by me. The other portion is simple, however the first one will take me some time to repair (EGR valve). I definitely saved money by diagnosing and repairing the EGR valve myself.

I had a power steering leak that was difficult to find, but this procedure using a dark light quickly located the issue. At the input shaft, that is! Once the fluid leak has been cleaned up, the leak will be visible after adding thevdye and letting it run for a time. Pricey for 1 oz., but because the power steering reservoir is so little, I only used half of it. The fact that I can now easily check the level in the pump with a black light is an added plus for me!

Great product; it enabled me to locate a coolant leak in my car that I would have never discovered otherwise. Due to the minimal amount of coolant leaked, I could only smell the leak and not see where it was coming from. After adding half of the bottle and waiting a few days, I noticed no change. A few days after adding the remaining bottle contents, I discovered the leak. Using a black light flashlight, such as the Escolite UV Flashlight Black Light, 51 LED 395 nM Ultraviolet Blacklight Detector for Dog Urine, Pet Stains, and Bed Bugs, the dye was easily visible even in the garage with the door open and the lights on. (It was a pipe that connected the overflow tank to the radiator's top. To remedy it, I inserted a tiny hose clamp.)Why did I just open half a bottle at first? I wanted to keep the remainder in case I needed it for one of our two other automobiles, one of which is 13 years old, and the other of which is 15 years old. Half of the bottle, according to other reviewers, was effective for them. If I had waited a few more days, perhaps it might have worked for me as well, but then again, the additional color probably made it stand out even more. It was a vivid neon color and incredibly simple to notice. I was able to wipe the color off the radiator neck after adding the hose clamp, and it did go away.Read the label carefully since Dexcool anti freeze cannot be combined with it.

It actually works! I'm amazed at how effective this device is in finding leaks given the cost. As it focuses on the leak, it has a very James Bond feel. Better than calling a repairman who, when quoting the refrigerator repair, will probably find something more to bill you for. This is what happened to me when I was quoted $999 for the replacement of a compressor when, in reality, my refrigerator had a little leak. With this device and a different component, I was able to repair the refrigerator for $50 and replenish the refrigerant level to the proper levels (bullet piercing valve that I bought on Amazon as well). Since it was installed, my R410A air conditioner, which is five years old, has slowly leaked. Since I live south of Houston, I require a fully functional A/C for at least 10 or 11 months of the year. Although the leak has not been discovered, the system would lose its whole charge in around 1.5 years.I added 7 lbs of R410A and the Leak Savers Direct Inject Refrigerant Leak Sealer with UV Dye in the latter part of May. I obtained the kit and installed the batteries. I removed the light end's screw. A smaller spring is located at the bottom, while a larger spring is located on the light end. So I inserted the batteries bottom-up, positive end first. This is incorrect; the positive goes to the light end and the negative to the bottom. Additionally, the batteries need to be in good shape. The case is made of aluminum or some other alloy, and the connections are made using screw threads, which are not good connectors. Even on the case's body, I had to firmly press my voltmeter probes into the metal in order to make a contact. I emailed the vendor to request a replacement when I initially received the lamp because I couldn't get it to function. Now that he sent, I have two lights. A year or so later, I tried to utilize these lights, but neither of them functioned. I even put new batteries in both of them, but still, nothing changed. I was unable to recall which way the batteries should be inserted. In order to measure the resistance at the switch end, I grabbed my voltmeter. I had to push the probes firmly and double-check that both switches were turned on. When that, both lights started working after I tested the batteries in both directions. after experimenting for twenty minutes and concluding that both lights were defective. There are two screw connections on each lamp, and although you have to fiddle with them before the light turns on, everything is fine once it does. I marked the ends of the switch and the light with felt-tip markers, respectively.

My husband will be writing a thorough review: My 17-year-old car's AC needed to be upgraded because it started leaking R134a throughout the winter. I am a novice auto mechanic and didn't know this kind of gadget even existed until I looked it up on forums. I avoided having to throw away $300 worth of new components thanks to this inexpensive device.I pulled a vacuum on my AC system after assembling it and making sure that all of the parts (new O-rings, compressor, accumulator, and orifice expansion valve) were torqued according to specs. I was shocked to find a leak in the system (-28 psi would become -2 psi within an hour). After testing everything for two hours in the garage's 100 degree heat, I made the decision to buy a universal AC dye kit and dye. The price was a little bit higher than this sniffer gadget. I used the manifold to inject a few ounces (as many YouTube videos demonstrate), and the resulting pressure was sufficient to turn the new compressor on for 20 minutes. The Buick Regal 1999 decided to conceal the orifice replacement under the brake booster and brake module, thank you General Motors. I'd like to know how that decision made it past the design committee. I then looked for leaks in the dark, but after an hour of angling a mirror into a difficult-to-find space, I still couldn't find the leak.I attempted to use a stethoscope to check for leaks, but the bubbling inside the system made it challenging to understand the sounds.A day later, I gave it another shot as I let go of another pricey 12-ounce can of Suva into my automobile and felt an ozone layer open above my home. The pool of sweat I left on the sweltering garage floor was worthwhile.I put batteries in the device, turned it on, and entered the garage before the beeping began to become more frequent. Before I even got close to the automobile, I realized that one of my valves wasn't completely closed off, and the sensor had detected the tiny leak. Wow!In less than two minutes, I found the leak in the most obvious and convenient spot after holding the device under many of the connections. Without starting the car, I added a few ounces of Suva (R134a) to the system and jumped for ecstasy. Because it was the farthest from the dye site and the compressor hadn't carried it far enough, dye couldn't have located the leak. In the end, only one of the brand-new O-rings was able to stop the leak.I wholeheartedly recommend having this device in your toolkit, especially if you're a beginner, because of how simple it was to use and how inexpensive it is when compared to a dye detection. Although it also functions for other kinds of chlorine, fluorine, and bromine gasses, I was only concerned with R134a detection. The O-ring hasn't been changed yet, but the ease of finding it inspired me to write this review. I made use of new AAA batteries (alkaline). Additionally, the instruction booklet was quite comprehensive, and although I was only skimming, I didn't spot any obvious grammar mistakes, but I thought the directions were flawless (quick start guide is glued to the device with 5 simple steps). For my upcoming AC journey, I'll place my sniffer in the cushioned carrying bag and protect the tip, but I'll take the batteries out to prevent battery deterioration. The replacement unit performed as promised, and everything is fine now. a second device was ordered for later usage.The business got in touch with me after I posted the initial submission and offered to provide me a replacement free of charge. A malfunctioning Schroeder valve might have been present down there (the valve that opens when one end is screwed on tight to the fitting). I haven't had a chance to test out the substitute yet. But any business that stands by its product enough to provide a free replacement deserves at least a 3, or neutral. After utilizing the replacement, I'll update this evaluation.I attempted to use this in accordance with the included instructions. First, I tried sandwiching it between the low side and 410 tank. The fluid inside the tube was static and did not flow at all. removed the "leak savor" from the system and filled it with 410 up to the manufacturer-recommended level. Then, after shutting off the compressor, put this item between the gauge and the low side. In accordance with the directions, I turned on the compressor and carefully opened the tube's side. No impact! Then, considering that perhaps this "leak saver" would operate in a directional manner, I shut off the compressor and both side valves. The item was again reinserted into the high-side hose, but this time in the other direction. Restarted the compressor and opened the high side valve once more; nothing changed. One of the ends of the leak saver fell away as I was scooping it up, and the tube quickly ran dry. Although I don't believe anything entered the HVAC systems, I did lose about 25 psi of pressure on the upper side. When attempting to empty the tube, the pressure difference in the system was about 250 psi; it increased to 360 psi when the connector was slightly loosened. According to the instructions, about 100 psi of pressure should be sufficient to drive the fluid out of the tube. But by chance, I discovered that it would empty once the pressure reached 300 psi!
