Most bike helmets are made to protect riders from head injuries in case of a fall or collision. But there is debate over whether or not they actually make a difference. Some studies have shown that bike helmets can reduce the risk of head injuries by up to 85%. However, other studies have found that helmets only reduce the risk of head injuries by about 15%. So, what’s the truth? Are bike helmets actually safer? It’s hard to say for sure. But, if you’re worried about being injured in a fall or collision
There is no definitive answer to this question as it largely depends on personal preferences and budget. However, many cyclists believe that expensive bike helmets offer better protection in the event of a crash and are also more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to purchase an expensive bike helmet is a personal one that should be based on individual needs and preferences.
Most bike helmets have a lifespan of 3-5 years. However, this can vary depending on how often you use your helmet, the conditions you use it in, and how well you take care of it. It's important to inspect your helmet regularly for signs of wear and tear, and to replace it if necessary.
To find the right bike helmet size for you, first measure the circumference of your head just above your eyebrows with a tape measure. Once you have your measurement, consult a sizing chart to find the approximate helmet size for your head.

I got this helmet for my 9-year-old kid because he outgrew his old one. He put it to the test less than three weeks later. He is a speed freak and a daredevil. He lost control while riding down a hill that he isn't permitted to ride on at about 30 mph and hit his head on the asphalt. He briefly lost consciousness, but the ER concussion test revealed no signs of damage. Other than some road rash, he is good. I detest to imagine how he would have suffered without a helmet or with his old one. According to the ER doctor, the area he struck was about the worst for head injuries.Never, ever scrimp on safety gear, especially for children. I'm getting a replacement helmet that is identical to this one. I originally couldn't determine where he hit his head because the helmet protected him so effectively. The foam had a tiny scratch and a tiny split in it, and then I observed that the foam had compressed where it was cushioning his head. My best financial decision ever.

I want to reassure everyone at the outset of this review that I am knowledgeable about quality helmets. I use a Fox pro-frame, a Fox Flux, and a Fox Ranger on a daily basis. This helmet was purchased for my younger brother, but before handing it to him, I of course tested it out. This helmet is not only wonderfully cozy, but it was also carefully designed. The back of the helmet has a really bright light. There are three settings: a steady red, a quick strobe, and a gradual blinking mode. My battery test produced some very remarkable results. Before the light started to fade, I had traveled, on average, 40 miles at a speed of 12 miles per hour. Since I have been cycling for years and my slowest day is usually 40 miles, I assume that regular commuters could use the helmet light all day long. Two internal linings are included with the helmet, one with a net to keep insects out and one without for added ventilation. Given that few brands provide this, the seller's addition of this is commendable. The dial is used to tighten the helmet, which is how I like to tighten things. The helmet is quite breathable, and I haven't fallen from my bike when wearing it, but looking at the construction and material quality, it is startling to see how comparable it is to my Giro Hex given that the Giro costs twice as much as this helmet. Given the cost, I am impressed at the craftsmanship and comfort of this helmet. Anyone who rides a bike on the road or is just starting out should definitely consider acquiring this helmet. Fantastic vendor and helmet; job well done.

Just so you know, I don't often write reviews. However, I had a great impulse to tell everyone I knew about this product.I travel daily by bike. Since I lived in NYC in the 1990s, I have worn a helmet almost constantly. So throughout the years, I've owned a ton of skate and "urban style" bike helmets. My preferred helmet out of the bunch is a battered Protec Ace Skate, partly because it suits me the best and is therefore the least MushroomHeadTM of the bunch. It's also incredibly cozy.Well, the ProTec just got their ass kicked by this new thousand helmet. The thousand is the least MushroomHeadTM CPSC helmet I've ever worn. It looks absolutely lovely, is insanely comfy, and comes with two sets of fit pads that are incredibly well made.Additionally, a U-lock hole is there for securing it to the bike. I probably won't use that till it gets a little scuffed up, but because I don't typically carry my helmet with me, I will eventually start wearing it.The only "con" I can think of is that the helmet is more pricey than most helmets with an urban appearance. However, it's a "luxury" helmet with fantastic fit and finish, and I'm more than happy to pay a little bit more for it.Oh, and just to be clear (because many people understandably wonder about very enthusiastic reviews): I was not paid for this review. I paid for it out of my own pocket. This business has not contacted me, and I have no affiliation at all with them. What I am is the extremely content owner of a gorgeous premium helmet.

seemed to be effective. The reviews of accidents and people's survival is what made me decide to buy. I am confident that even though this helmet is solid and a little heavier than a typical bicycle helmet, I will be okay in the event of an accident. If you need to make it a little bit smaller or snugger, it also comes with optional padding on the inside, which is wonderful (I didn't, but I loved it).5/29/2018 update - I've had this helmet for a while, but I finally crashed my bike after hitting a trolley track while biking. Although my head definitely struck the ground and my bike was badly damaged, this man managed to keep it completely unharmed! I am now utterly satisfied with my buy. It's robust and will actually protect you from even rather significant accidents. Would and most likely will purchase again!

I'll explain why this helmet is fantastic in a moment. I'm also hard to impress. Read on:The drawstring storage bag that the helmet comes with is excellent packaging. I genuinely enjoy this. Others get days, weeks, or months worth of dust and the occasional cobweb on my head when I simply store them in the garage without a bag. The helmet will remain safe and secure in its pouch, wonderful! When it arrives, the helmet is likewise bubble-wrapped within the storage bag. This is wonderful because a helmet is supposed to be thrown away and replaced after receiving a substantial shock. Therefore, it is additionally protected in the bubble wrap, which is a lovely touch if this item received a big shock during shipping.*Fit*: The adjustment wheel on the back makes adjusting the head circumference fit simple and one-handed. The fact that the back "webbing" can be adjusted up and down is quite cool because it helps the helmet fit your head evenly. See the 2 back images below (one with rear-web up and one down). The typical size-adjustment under the chin can be used to quickly adjust the chin strap; in fact, it's easier than most. I absolutely like how comfortable the comfort band around the straps is. The air vents that let your head and scalp to breathe when you're working up a sweat are also nice. The quality appears to be superb. The shell seems much more strong than others I've owned and is really durable (I tried to crush the shell by squeezing it firmly, but it didn't budge, no creaks or cracks). The foam throughout is substantial and dense. It appears that it would effectively defend against a major shock (from asphalt or rock) and absorb it. Sorry, people, but I wasn't willing to test it by riding my mountain bike off a cliff and landing on my head. However, based on all indications and a wealth of expertise, it appears that this helmet would endure quite well. The inside cushioning strips are fantastic; I've never seen anything like them. Velcro is essentially used across the entire back of every cushioned strip. Then, to allow the mounting of the strips, there are carefully positioned Velcro dots permanently fastened to the interior of the helmet. This makes it simple to remove or modify the padding as needed. This design is excellent. Back LED lights have three different modes: off, on, and blink. They add a great safety feature and are bright. To switch the light on or off, you need to apply quite a bit of pressure to the lens. While it functions perfectly today, I hope the clear lens never breaks because if it does, the light might stop turning on and off altogether. I wasn't prepared to break it to find out, though. Perhaps a switch inside would be a better idea. Of course, I can't say because it hasn't broken. For the time being, it's perfect, and I like the extra safety measure. How do you swap out the batteries, I wonder? Hmmm. I'll check with the manufacturer; they appear to be extremely helpful. The helmet has CPSC marking on it for safety "The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission is a separate US government organization. By eliminating "unreasonable risks" of injury, creating universal safety standards, and conducting research into product-related illness and injury, the CPSC aims to advance the safety of consumer products." Additionally, the helmet has a "EN 1078" label on it. "The European standard EN 1078, named Helmets for Pedal Cyclists and for Users of Skateboards and Roller Skates, was released in 1997. ...describes specifications and testing procedures for helmets used with skateboards, roller skates, and bicycles. It encompasses the design of the helmet, including the field of vision, the shock-absorbing qualities, the characteristics of the retention system, including the chin strap and fastening mechanisms, as well as labeling and information." This is excellent news for us as customers if all of these helmet certifications are real, as they appear to be.*Value*: According to the brochure, they provide a 100% satisfaction guarantee (see image), which is difficult to match. Overall, this helmet is quite good for the price. Again, I haven't crashed while wearing it (thank goodness), but if I do, this helmet will keep me safe based on all indications and my riding experience. Would I advise you to purchase it? Yes, I would without a doubt, based on the reliability of the certifications!

I purchased this helmet based on the cost and customer reviews, and all I can say is wow. This helmet is so light that there are moments when I don't even notice it's on my head. The visor is excellent at keeping the sun and rain out of your eyes while maintaining clear vision. I fell hard when attempting to hop on my mountain bike, and the bike smacked the helmet and landed in front of me. This is a very powerful helmet. My head was adequately protected by the helmet, which held up. The only drawback is that there isn't precisely a flat location for a go-pro mount, but you won't have any problems if you get the chest mount. I would suggest this to anyone looking for a good helmet on a tight budget. Would repurchase!

This is a tight fit because I have a small head (I don't know the actual measurements, but anything "unisex," even adjustable, is always way too big for me). It fits me perfectly, but I can see how women with larger heads could have trouble wearing this helmet. If you're unsure, measure your head with a fabric tape measure since the description states that it "Fits head sizes: 54-58 cm."The helmet is quite cool to me. The reflectors at the back of the helmet are a lovely addition, and the straps are comfortable and stay in place without the need for frequent length adjustments.Since the outside shell of mine was clearly a touch loose and I could see that happening if you store it in an odd way, I deducted one star from the rating. They ought to have used a more "weather friendly" glue, in my opinion. Additionally, it was a tiny bit greener than it appeared in the photographs, but that doesn't detract from its overall rating because it could simply be my screen. But altogether, I'm really content.
If your bike helmet is too small, it will be uncomfortable to wear and may not protect you properly in the event of a crash. To check if your helmet is the right size, put it on and fasten the straps. Then, open your mouth wide and see if you can fit two fingers between the strap and your chin. If not, the helmet is too small.
There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on a number of factors, such as the type of helmet, your head shape and size, and personal preference. However, there are a few general tips that can help you choose the right size helmet: - Firstly, measure your head circumference and consult a size chart to find the approximate helmet size. - Secondly, try the helmet on before you buy it to ensure a comfortable fit. - Finally, remember that you can always adjust the straps and pads on most helmets to create a more customized and comfortable fit
You should replace your bike helmet every 3 to 5 years.
A helmet should fit snugly, but not too tight. It should sit level on your head, and not tilt back or forward. The straps should be adjusted so that they're tight enough that the helmet doesn't move around, but not so tight that they're uncomfortable.
How tight should a cycle helmet be? A cycle helmet should be tight enough that it doesn't move around on your head, but not so tight that it's uncomfortable. The best way to check if your helmet is the right size is to put it on and adjust the straps so that it's snug but not too tight. You should be able to fit two fingers between the strap and your chin, and the helmet should sit level on your head (not tilted back).
Most people believe that a full face helmet should be tight in order to be effective. However, this is not always the case. A full face helmet should be tight enough to stay in place in the event of an accident, but not so tight that it is uncomfortable to wear.
