When I started remodeling and painting our new home, I knew I would be doing a lot of projects around the house and I wanted to be sure I was safe and healthy, so I bought a mask and this cartridge. After two months of painting, staining, and finishing walls, floors, trim, etc., I was concerned about how long it would last in use, but I was astonished to find that it is still filtering all of the fumes, as far as I can tell. This has my highest recommendation. Even when crammed into a small location with little airflow and fumes from oil-based finishes and paint filling the space, you cannot smell anything. Additionally, you can breathe easily knowing that you are not breathing any of the dangerous vapors.To prepare for cartridge change, I actually purchased three packs, but I haven't found a need for them. They may need to be replaced at regular intervals if you operate in a hazardous area, but for what I do they have lasted for a very long period. I keep them in a small area in a thick plastic bag that is tied at the edges.

I'm using these in conjunction with a 3M #7503 half-facepiece respirator as I retrofit the insulation in my attic. 40-year-old loose-fill fiberglass covered in sunflower husks, acorn shells, squirrel and chipmunk droppings, and other animal waste.I prefer to use a well-fitting respirator with replaceable filters over the numerous rubberband-style masks since I feel much safer doing so. I purchased the 2-pair pack to save money, but you may also get a single pair. For your information, the single-pair item on Amazon has much more reviews on this filter.A non-expert like myself can become overwhelmed by the amount of information on filters and government-speak provided by OSHA and NIOSH. Someone gave these filters a 1 star review on the single-pair product page, which I felt was unfair. Following some investigation, I've included some of what I posted there here in the hopes that it will aid in your decision-making.The "P" indicates that the filter media is strongly resistant to oil, not particles ("oil-Proof"). The other categories are N for not and R for oil-Resistant.In terms of size, particulate filters only catch particles that are smaller than 0.3 microns in diameter, and even that is simply the median size of the test sample. In contrast, smoke has particles that are around 2 microns in size."100" denotes that 100% of the particles are being removed by the filter. Compare that to filter types like N99 and N95, which, respectively, remove 99% and 95%. The great majority of extremely minute particles are nonetheless removed by all three categories; however, 100-type filters do so most frequently throughout the course of the test."Relief against nuisance levels of organic vapors" is provided by this filter. But using it in excessive concentrations is not advised.While a filter like this will remove smoke particles, smoke also contains gases. DO NOT breathe exhaust gases since CO in them can be fatal.Last but not least, although I don't weld, these filters can be used to filter "metal fumes produced from welding, brazing, cutting and other operations involving heating of metals," according to 3M's instruction page.Leave now!

The Elipse masks offer a decent, clean, tight-fitting mask that performs far better than the cheap disposable filters that don't appear to hold up to any human who has standards for their lungs. Filters are required in many working conditions. The only drawback is that when blown out with tremendous pressure, they fall apart. Therefore, if you're considering using it as a sanding mask, you might need to get a few. Elipse masks work nicely and do not obstruct vision, thus I prefer to use them when cutting as opposed to sanding. But they are a far more professional alternative than the disposable kind, every day of the week.

I obtained these as I am an artist and frequently work with chemicals. However, Northern California was also experiencing a major fire, and I was unable to leave the house without a respirator. Without these, I would not have been able to go outdoors because they were so effective at filtering out the smoke. Additionally, the face mask fits better, making it more efficient than continuous filters and preventing contamination from the sides. Excellent delivery and price.

When working with practically any hazardous item that you don't want to breathe, these multi-purpose respirators are a lifesaver. The nicest thing about this particular series of masks is that any other cartridge filter in that series, which Amazon also sells, can be used in their place when the filters become ineffective and can be replaced by simply twisting them off. These have the additional benefit of being less obtrusive than a full face mask would be. With high-quality items like those that 3M provides here, you are worth the cost and it would be a mistake not to protect yourself.

my 3M 7502 mask fits with. simple to breathe I used one set over the course of many days while pouring concrete in my basement. At the end, everything was covered with dust. Removed the used filters, and the interior was still quite nice. Additionally tends to assist with smells when using paint stripper. helps a lot but does not completely eradicate them.
