I purchased the desk from this set more than ten years ago. With constant use, repeated dragging up and down stairs, repositioning at my whim, and even tearing a hole out of the back so I could use a pair of Ergotron arms for my two monitors, it has held up flawlessly all this time. Even after all of this, the desktop itself shows just minor signs of wear, which is surprising considering that I frequently move objects around, eat here, and keep a hot plate for my coffee cup on it. But I really wanted a file cabinet, so of COURSE I'll pick the one that goes with my desk!I gave it two months to sit before starting the assembly. Simply because I am me, I knew it would take me the entire day. In hindsight, the instructions weren't really challenging, but in the end, I had some difficulty deciphering the significance of one of the pictures. Actually, the only reason was because I didn't want to stay on the floor any longer and was exhausted and hungry. When I went back to it the following day, the picture that had initially seemed challenging was a "duh," and the rest of the cabinet came together quickly.A power screwdriver should be nearby. Although you don't NEED it, it does save time and effort. I regret waiting until the very last minute and not having it at the start of the job.Very sturdy, substantial cabinet that matches my desk and is exactly what I wanted. Beautiful and capable of holding far more files than I need, but hey, better to have too much than not enough.This furniture range is unbeatable. If the cabinet is anything like the desk, it will look fantastic after 10 years of heavy use. Cash well-spent

Excellent piece of furniture, quite simple to put together. We own two corner desks (420474), and we adore the design and color. The "wood" is multi-toned, making it simple to cover any injuries with furniture markers and make them go away.The one oddity with this product is that, contrary to what the specifications indicate, it is roughly 3/4 inch taller than a desk. It will appear a little odd if you place this right next to the desk. The symmetry helps it look alright because we have it between the desks and there are roughly 10" between each item, but it is still puzzling that matched pieces would not be the same height.This was purchased to serve as a printing stand and as extra storage. Because it is too huge for a printer stand, our large multi-function Cannon printer appears to be a more typical size. There is another a (less expensive) printer stand, but we chose this one because it worked better for us and we're content with it.The file drawer's weight restriction is one thing I find disappointing. Although the drawer's floor is sturdy, the hinges are substantial. Only once is it strengthened from the front to back. Therefore, a full stack of papers can fit on either end of the drward without coming close to the support strut. Although the "walls" are sturdy, the file hangers can likely support more weight than the specified 20 pounds. A file drawer that size should be designed to hold at least 50 files. I wanted to use it to store a variety of paper, labels, and other items for quick access when printing, but I had to choose a subset, so I'm only using approximately a quarter of the drawer. Paper weighs a lot, C'mom Sauder, whether it's lying on the desk or hanging in a file.

I paid $205 for this Sauder Edge Water Lateral File.Pros: I really like the contemporary design of it, and $205 seems like a fair price for it. Excellent style and finish.- Despite not being made of actual wood, it is a very solid and substantial object.Cons: (Biggest complaint) Unlike all other sections of it, the drawer bottoms are made of cardboard rather than MDF. Since nothing truly sits on the bottom, this is acceptable if you're only using it to hang files. But now that I have to be cautious not to put too much weight on the top drawer, which I had hoped to use to store office materials. Without this, I would have rated it five stars.- Setup required a lot of time. a good three hours.- The pre-drilled knob hole's finish surrounding it tore off sufficiently to reveal a little amount of the unfinished section. Fortunately, I had a wood finish marker that concealed it, but this is something to be concerned about with a faux-wood finish. If I ever make an apparent scratch in the surface, I'm worried it won't be able to be repaired and will look terrible.Overall, I'm pleased with the work. The "Whittier Wood McKenzie Lateral File Cabinet," which was offered for order at my neighborhood furniture store (and online) for $600, would have likely been what I would have bought if I could go back in time, especially if it had been pre-built.Allocate plenty of time for setup. Observe the instructions precisely. The instructions are excellent, but you must carefully follow them and pay attention to every detail. Every time something seemed off during the process, I was doing something incorrectly.

I disagree with other evaluations in that this piece comes together to be incredibly robust. The other reviewers might not have had much expertise with cam lock bolts, which is why I believe they didn't turn the bolts in properly. Sometimes the component that goes into the wood needs an extra turn, and other times the piece you put into the whole is slightly out of alignment. The thickness of the two sections that join together to form the back really amazed me. The veneer, in comparison, is incredibly thin. It has a lovely wood-like texture but is easily scratched. To preserve it, I'll have a piece of glass cut to fit the top. It was quite simple for me to put together. The only drawback to the directions is that the illustrations are not sufficiently comprehensive and some of the boards and screw packages lack labels. Before you begin, line up all of the boards in alphabetical order and the screws, bolts, and other hardware in numerical order. The placement of the unlabeled items and the appropriate labels are then obvious. That it locks is nice. Excellent color fidelity to the image! I do wish that the top rear hole, which has a cover plate, didn't exist in case you wanted to mount a printer or monitor there. However, given its versatility, I suppose it might prove useful down the future. I got something for a customer. They adore it so much!

Because of the disparity in ratings and the lack of free returns, I was a little hesitant to order this, but I took a chance. I'm happy I did! The quality is certainly a notch below what I purchased from a blue and yellow big-box retailer earlier this year, but the assembly was virtually precisely the same. However, given that it costs $100, I didn't anticipate it to be an heirloom-quality piece. It took around two hours to assemble, everything was in the box, and nothing was damaged. You can see that I mostly required it for my printer, and it serves that job flawlessly.

I was hesitant to purchase this dresser because there aren't any reviews from other customers, therefore I have no idea how good of a product it is. However, I ultimately chose to take a chance because I really enjoy the style and color that fit my bedroom. It came in a single, securely sealed box, and it took me 2.5 hours to put it together on my own. Although it isn't very difficult, you must be extremely careful and should avoid using a drill because the wood is particle and is easily broken by excessive strength. The large, deep drawers have plenty of room to store items. I adore it a lot. It's actually quite useful.

This is difficult. Because the directions don't even mention the locking mechanism, watch the video a few times first. Read the user manual. I only gave it four stars because it took my husband and me 3.5 hours to put it together using the printed instructions and the video, but in the end it was worthwhile. The directions could definitely be improved. Time well spent because the similar cabinet was estimated for $1000 before tax and delivery. The box it was sent in (all flat) was excessively heavy, so be prepared to open this delivery at your door and bring in the pieces one at a time. A sold cabinet, that is. On top, I currently have a printer, scanner, and USB hub. There were three file drawers inside. It then locks.
