I strongly disagree with the two recent unfavorable reviews I read on this product; it's a fantastic product!It's a nice pillow top, it breathes well, and it fits perfectly.Given my 12-inch-thick mattress, I will state that there is enough elastic in the skirt to fit an 18-inch mattress, but you can easily tuck that away.The cloth feels exactly like starched cotton for a dry cleaner, thus I assume it has a starch, water repellent, or stain-resistant coating on the cotton. It also smells typical.The best aspect is that I didn't sweat or get hot at all even wearing flannel sheets on this baby at night without a fan when it was on my memory foam mattress (Prior to this topper, I generally wake up sweating at night).I adore this topper since it completely eliminates my body heat and does not retain it.

I already have a good mattress, so I wasn't searching for a mattress topper that was excessive. This is appropriate. It's beautifully built, soft, but not overly so. My mattress does get a little warmer as a result, but I believe that's okay. The fact that this topper includes cloth on both sides is another feature I adore. The mattress in our guest room is a touch on the firmer side, so I ordered this mattress cover/pad for that bed. It's a decent mattress cover (I say cover rather than pad because, in my opinion, it's not as thick as a mattress pad), it does the job, and it gives the firm mattress a little extra comfort. The cover easily fits over the 10" mattress. The top layer's plasticky, almost diaper-like texture is, in my opinion, its one drawback. When you turn and lay down on it, it produces a light crinkly sound, but nothing that is too distracting. This fairly plasticky top layer should soften up a little with time, in my opinion. Overall, I'm delighted with the purchase because the price was excellent and it does make the mattress seem a little less firm and more fluffy.**update** After just a few weeks, there is no crinkly sound at all, and we've had a few family members over who slept on the guest bed in the past month, and they've all commented on how comfortable the bed is! I am aware that I need a new mattress, but I detest the thought of mattress shopping. After many nights of sound sleep, I came to the conclusion that we at the very least required a new mattress topper. I spent several days looking for a topper online because I knew I didn't want the extra heat that regular down and down substitute goods produce but wanted something that was thick and fluffy like a cloud. Then I discovered this cap. I am familiar with the cooling properties because I own great pillows with similar designs. I decided to order it nonetheless on a whim.A word of caution: this topper will be vacuum-packed in a bag and will be hideous to look at when you unwrap it. It will puff up easily if you just wash it and dry it on a warm setting. I did it immediately away, setting it on my bed. I chose to go to bed a little earlier because it was about time for bed. I could still feel the warmth from the dryer as I slept on top of this new very fluffy topper. Given how chilly it was that day, it was surprisingly pleasant. Due to my recent purchase of an extra-firm mattress, I decided to purchase this mattress pad. I prefer to sleep on extra-firm mattresses because they provide excellent back support and I enjoy not feeling like I'm sinking into anything. I didn't understand that an extra-firm might aggravate the arthritis I'm currently dealing with. I adore this product so much! I heartily endorse it. It is excellent, soft, cozy, and waterproof. For different temperatures on each side of the bed, it features two settings. The temperature gauges have a range of 1 to 19, followed by a high setting. My device heats very quickly when I use it at nine o'clock. Although I've never used it, it has a preheat setting. If I'm really cold, I just set it up to high for 15 minutes, turn it down to a comfortable level, and go to sleep. It also feels quite fluffy, rather like a pillow top mattress. So by providing you with a fluffy layer in between for some extra comfort, this can considerably help if you have an older mattress with grooves in it.I am one of those people who cannot sleep while wearing clothing, but I also cannot sleep when I am chilly. The worst kind of cold feet keep me up at night. I won't have to be concerned about that anymore thanks to the heated mattress pad. The heated mattress pad does, in fact, function, and it works quite well. You stay warm all night because to its quick and consistent heating.However, there are a few features of the heated pad that are interesting.1. Rather than being on the side of the mattress, the socket used to connect the pad to the power cord is on top of the mattress, at the foot. see image in gallery I can feel the thick plug with my toes as I stretch. The plug for the other mattress warmer in the house is located at the head of the bed on the side of the mattress. This location for the plug seems much more sensible. I considered simply flipping the pad over and placing the plug at the top of the bed, but doing so would require you to feel and possibly touch the plug with your fingertips.2. In order to adjust the temperature settings on the nightstands, you must stretch the power wire from the foot of the bed to the head because the plug is located there. It uses a LOT of cord to do this. Even worse, the cord must be placed on the floor rather than between the mattress and box spring. I store a lot of things (or rubbish) beneath my bed, and every time I take something out, the power wire snags, which causes the temperature controllers to fall off the nightstands.3. Another issue arises from the location of the plug if you have a bed skirt on the box spring. You must cut a hole in the bed skirt and fish the power cord through it to get it under the bed.4. Another problem is the temperature controller. To turn the dial and adjust the temperature, you need two hands. There is a simple on/off switch, however turning the dial requires some effort. Not recommended for people who have arthritis or are elderly.5. In addition, the temperature controller has an odd form and won't lay flat on my nightstand. The on/off button is always on the lighter, narrower end, which is always raised by about a half-inch. see image in gallery Even though the controller doesn't fall over, it just appears strange. a small mouse sitting next to my bed, almost.6. When you sleep on the pad, the wires are hardly perceptible, but you can feel them when you run your palm across the top of it.So this mattress warmer is an excellent option if your sole worry is staying warm at night. If you prefer a warmer with the outlet on the side of the mattress, though, because you don't like the idea of your extending toes touching the power plug.PS: If your controllers start flashing, make sure the power plug is inserted all the way into the mattress plug. Push it in place until it locks. It took me some time to realize that. I know, I know.
