It's reportedly great! To put it another way, I haven't had a taste. :-) The cake is being offered by Amazon, and we are extremely impressed. In order to get at my future son-in-college law's apartment in time for his birthday this week, I first had the Key Lime version shipped to my nephew for his birthday. The address, which I had from his roommate, was, however, off by a building. Since he would be staying with us over the weekend and not on college, I called Amazon, and they sent ANOTHER one to arrive at our house! The original was delivered to his apartment in the interim (albeit it did so a day after his birthday, which was MY error and which Amazon nonetheless fixed!). I can't speak for how it tastes personally, but my son-in-law, who loves fine cuisine, especially when it involves chocolate, says it's AMAZING! He "claims" he'll deliver some to us the following weekend. We shall see.Just an advisory. Our family is highly watchful of alcohol consumption (typically we only use it for cooking with). I was mistaken in thinking that this cake had "baked out" the alcohol, but it hadn't. :-) Not a problem for us this time, but I still wanted to advise anyone who could require the information.

One of my favorite Christmas treats is rum cake. I placed a direct order with the Tortuga Rum Company for the golden original 33 ounce and the blue coffee 33 ounce last Christmas. Although I really enjoyed the original, I didn't enjoy the coffee as much. The other tended to be more dry, whereas the original was extremely damp. I was additionally charged for shipping.This year, I used Amazon to place my purchase and received free shipping while saving over $10 on the cake's price. To maintain its freshness and rum content, the rum cake is individually wrapped in plastic and placed within the box. I occasionally drink; my faves are rum, tequila, and bourbon. I didn't feel the rum was overbearing; yeah, you can taste it, but the cake's flavor also balances it out. They have a superb "Rum Cake," in my opinion, and this would be a wonderful Christmas treat. Highly suggested. Before Christmas, I will need to get another because I ran out of mine.
