These definitely function! I was initially skeptic. I'm a new mother who rarely drinks, but when I do, I truly love my wine. I purchased these in order to test their efficacy. I had a glass of wine before taking the first two pictures, then 45 minutes later, I took a small amount of breastmilk. The strip, as you can see, started to light up right away like a Christmas light. The white strip immediately adjacent to it is merely intended to illustrate how a typical strip would appear when empty of breastmilk. Even though the instructions state to dismiss anything after two minutes, I was astonished to observe the blue strip get even darker after around 10 minutes of dipping it in breastmilk. The third image shows a strip (the white one) that was dipped in milk after being completely sober and a jar of breastmilk that I had pumped the previous evening that I suspected may have a trace amount of alcohol from a cider in it. These cute tiny strips were a baby shower gift that I received. I'm unsure of their correctness, but I'll discuss my findings based on the few times I've utilized them. I believe that utilizing common sense and being aware of your body are the most crucial.First use: I made use of these on July 4. I consumed one mixed drink and probably five Jello shots. About an hour after the meal, I tested my milk, and the results showed that I was fine to breastfeed. I pumped once before bed and then breastfed him in the morning because I was drunk and didn't really feel comfortable feeding him. I'm a little wary to rely entirely on them after this experience.Second experience: My husband and I went out for the evening. I consumed a large amount of booze. I would estimate that I drank four mixed drinks and four vodka shots (I hate to make myself sound bad here, but I want to be accurate). As an ER nurse who frequently administers breathalyzer tests and measures patients' blood alcohol levels, I believe I can roughly predict what my BAL would be. Given that I didn't drive and had a babysitter at home, I would estimate that I was a 0.2. I started drinking at 6 o'clock and concluded at about 10 o'clock. At 11 p.m., I arrived home and tested my milk. The strip darkened considerably more than the box indicated. I got up at one in the morning to pump and dump. It was still dark. About 0.02 ml of alcohol leaves the blood per hour. So, if even a tiny bit of my assumption was correct, my milk should be alcohol-free by around 10am. I retested it at nine in the morning, and this time it came back clean. To be safe, I gave him a feeding around 10 a.m. after pumping and defecating once more. He had a short period of mild irritability, and his excrement smelled unusual. I panicked and was convinced I had given him tainted milk. By early afternoon, he had returned to his usual, joyful state.I apologize for the length of this explanation of my experience, but if you're anything like me, it might be helpful. Although I believe these strips to be excellent, I would pump and discard an additional time once it reads clean just to be safe. However, I believe that it also relies on how much you consume and when you intend to feed the infant. I don't think you really really need to test the milk if you're an ordinary woman who has a glass of wine after the baby goes to bed and the infant sleeps for at least six hours. However, if you want to drink a lot of alcohol, these are useful. Always exercise smart judgment.

I recently became a mother, and I breastfeed. On Valentine's Day, I wished to indulge in a glass of wine. I failed twice within 24 hours of consuming, and the usrin was also submitted to a lab where I succeeded there as well; however, since I am 120 pounds of fitness and drank a lot of water and used the restroom 20 times prior to the test, I wouldn't advise it. 48 hours before to a test, I did consume a lot of alcohol, but I still passed using the water trick. I've been tested twice a week for months while working in construction, moving around constantly, weighing nothing, and drinking a lot of alcohol; I've never failed. If you do drink a lot of water, just be sure to buy some creatine to bring your pH levels back to normal. If you're big or medium-sized, definitely abstain from alcohol for at least two days. The lines are incredibly faint on these, but they do work. I took my test for the lab after 24 hours and it came back positive after 12 hours but negative after 20.
