To use with a fan I already owned that just fits them, I purchased a pack of these filters. Without a foundation, the fan stands up and draws in smoke up to about 5 inches from the soldering point. Perfectly, the filter removes all of the fumes. I regret not doing this sooner rather than merely using a fan to push the smoke to one side. It hasn't lost any of its potency in the few months that I've been using it intermittently.

nice, uncomplicated design well-made components. Better ball valves may have been utilized, but then the price wouldn't be as low. Without a hitch, they swapped out the flawed item.
