This item performed two functions. Excellent for my swimbaits and the occasionally prone to rolling Ribbit frog. Using this style of lure clip is somewhat novel. One of the best offers on fishing gear may be found here. The cheap screw pins for soft bait are also excellent. These reusable clips were so pricey when I first purchased them from a recognized brand that I detested using them! These are just as excellent as those; perhaps the supply will need to be kept dry to prevent rusting, but who needs to bring 100 to the lake? My old eyes actually prefer the clip being open to the fancy "pro grade" ones where you simply rotate the lure eye around the clip. On larger hooks or lure connections, the identical sizes of those are actually quite difficult to employ.

I go through a lot of tackle because I fish frequently, around twice a week. It's a hobby, not a job, so you might want to spend extra money on a name brand if your next income or food depends on your tackle, but I wouldn't advise it. These swivels are very reasonably priced and of high quality. The problems with missing pieces and breaking that were stated in other reviews don't relate to the ones I received. For practically all of my fishing (for pike, walleye, crappie, perch, etc.), I use 6-8 pound test line, thus I'll never know if a #35 pound swivel pulls apart at 20 pounds.When choosing which size to order, take into account your demands, such as your normal line weight, but don't go overboard.In conclusion, any angler of any species would be prudent to choose these.

Powerclips are now an integral part of both my surf and boat fishing toolkits. When I was watching the Tactical Angler Power Clip: The Fastest, Simplest, and Most Secure Way to Attach Your Line to Your Lure video on Tackle Advisor's YouTube channel, I learned about these. In accordance with Tackle Advisor's recommendation in the video to make it easier to clip on, I did use a pair of split-ring pliers to remove excess o-rings from my lures.To use for surf and pier fishing, I ordered a set of 50lb clips (the smallest size that was offered at the time I placed my order). It has simplified switching between lures. Without experiencing any problems, I have used it with weighted jig heads, Krocodile, Kastmaster, LC Flash Minnows, and Coltsnipers. These are wonderful for ocean/bass fishing, but they are far too large to use with lightweight fishing equipment for trout. Although I haven't personally used the 25lb ones that were just added, I'm wondering about them. I am certain that I would not use 50lb for trout.On a recent boating trip, I also tried the 125lb clips, and they worked flawlessly with my surface setups of surface irons, flatfall, butterfly, and bigger Coltsnipers. It even handled my 9oz lure with no issues after I dropped some heavier jigs to the bottom to yoyo. I regrettably only had the opportunity to try this with some decent bass because to the sluggish fishing, but I am confident that it will hold at least as well as a swivel.Getting the lures onto the clips did require some practice. It is advantageous if the clip is already attached to the line because there is more line to pull against than just the clip. Before using it in real situations everywhere you go, I'd suggest practicing with the clips on your lure a few times at home.One incredible scenario was someone using a hot reel on our boat, and when I moved out of the way of the person, my lure got tangled up in his line. My lure was within reach, and someone managed to unclip it, releasing my line. This took place in 3 seconds or less. The other angler didn't lose his catch, and neither did I lose my lure or need to re-setup.

This really makes me wonder what I can believe from Dr. Fish because I also got size 6 from him that are supposed to be 260 lb swivels according to his web site add. These are supposed to be #8 390 lb Ball Bearing Swivels yet right on the packaging it says 254 lb. What are the #6 and #8's actual lb test ratings?The sets of #8 Ball Bearing Swivels were incorrectly tagged at the warehouse, according to an explanation I received from Dr. Fish. I'm confident that I did in fact receive the right item and would like to change my 2 star rating back to a 5 star. I was called by their customer support, who informed me that the mistake is being fixed.

I had a lot of vintage fishing lures that needed some TLC because they were rusted. What I needed was exactly this! The pliers are strong and of high quality. More than I'll ever need, but it was a wonderful deal. Upon receipt, I tested a few of each size, and the snaps and swivels all appeared to function as intended. I personally use these barrel swivels when ice fishing in northern New England for largemouth bass and pike (size #1 / 104lb). They are ideal for preventing lines from tangling up while battling fish, lowering low-energy bait into the fishing hole, and swiftly switching leaders when the northern pike's pointed teeth start to wear them down. The #1/104lb size, which is heavy enough to hold a giant or jumbo shiner in place without really dropping quicker than the bait itself and generating tangle, works nicely as a good compromise to replace a swivel AND split-shot weight.
