We bought this for our family so that we can start a more deliberate daily appreciation practice. We believed that we needed to actively promote appreciation in our home as a result of some TED lectures and books on happiness and gratitude. Our 7-year-old daughter delighted to "play" with a display Buddha Board in a store, so we thought it would be a wonderful physical reminder and tool for the purpose. She could not comfortably carry my weight. For this 11-year-old who is still growing, this 18x18 is the ideal size. It's just like yours, she exclaimed joyfully at first! This is exactly what I needed to find! The sizing suits large mediums well. Its bottom lip allows me to add a larger surface as well. The best part is that when I'm not using it, I can fold it up and store it. There isn't place for a permanent drafting table in my tiny apartment. The one feature I would have liked to see was a locking system to keep it flat when being carried or not in use. Even so, it wouldn't be enough to lower my rating. Highly suggested.

The concept art is rather good. Even if you only use one sheet on the board, the huge piece of Masonite/hardboard provides a flat surface for drawing that won't change the texture of your page. Remember that hardboard is not waterproof, therefore use wet media with this board with great caution. The clips function reasonably well, but I improved grip and avoided any unwanted markings or indentations on the paper by adding adhesive foam spacers to the clamping sections on each of them.The negative now. This product's packaging shows a lack of design sensibility. My order from Amazon arrived in a sizable package with no paper wadding or air packs inside. A massive hole had been torn in the side of the box where one of the clips had pierced it. That clip was crushed, shattered, and wholly useless when I first opened the box. Using a tiny hammer and a pair of pliers, I was able to get it to work again in a somewhat functional manner. However, a simple adjustment like covering the clips with two pieces of cardboard or inexpensive expanded foam will stop the harm before it even starts.

Since I lacked a light box or easel for drawing, I purchased this item to use for sketching/drawing rather than using the kitchen table. I wasn't first confident that the Sketch Board would function well because I had to spin my drawing in all directions to finish it. My ability to sit down, place one end on the computer desk and the other on my lap, and begin drawing astounded me. This has been a fantastic investment for my drawings. As artists, we need all the support we can receive. It's not the best to stoop over my drawing while sitting at a flat table.
