This document holder is robust and well-made. It is of high caliber. Because I frequently copy from legal pads, the back stand of my old document holder could not support the weight and would slide back and break. A metal back stand fits into a set of grooves on the back of this document holder. This prevents the stand from slipping and makes it possible to tilt the paper for comfortable viewing at a total of seven different angles. Although I haven't used it to hold books, I am confident that it is sturdy enough to do so. When I copy from 14-inch paper that is not attached to a legal pad, the bottom three inches sort of lie flat on the desk rather than standing erect because this stand is designed for 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper. But considering the overall quality of this copy holder, that size is acceptable given that it was clearly stated on the website. My purchase has made me very delighted.

I've owned it for a while and am really pleased with my choice!With the adjustable angle, I was able to place it under my monitors easily.It is conveniently portable and fits effortlessly in my backpack.Clips effectively complete their task.The bottom tabs feel like they get in the way, but since my workplace isn't very "windy" and I don't need bottom pinning, the value is probably still there for others.However, the sighting bar is really bad. On the transparent plastic ruler, the blue lines are not perfectly level and slope downward as they move away from the clip. Despite this, you can occasionally make do with the ruler's top or bottom.If your life doesn't have to revolve around the blue sighting lines, I would buy this product again and would highly suggest it to others.

I purchased this so that my 500 page spiral-bound typing class textbook (shown) could be raised off of my desk and placed near my computer. It does the job effectively. It can easily support the weight of this large book. I haven't tried it with a textbook that isn't spiral-bound (i.e., one that can't be folded in half), but I'm sure it would work just as well. My desk isn't big enough to fit both that and my computer.To prevent it from moving about on the desk, it has rubber feet on the bottom. Like the back of a picture frame, the kickstand on the back folds flat. The clear plastic bar that slides up and down to hold your papers in place may be useful if you were utilizing a much smaller assortment of papers. Additionally, the top silver clip may be adjusted by sliding it up and down to fit various paper lengths.I use it, as I mentioned, to hold a textbook as I type. Additionally, you might use it to support a cookbook while you cook, a tablet to read, watch a movie, etc., or anything else that would need you to stand up.

My modest business, which I operate out of my home, has grown gradually, but every now and then I slap my head and wonder why I didn't do this sooner. Well, a long time ago, I never seen one of these as nice as this. I really like having the page at a good angle to see when I enter data, but what's really awesome is that some pages, like receipts, have a tendency to want to fall forward. These magnets work wonderfully; I can stick several sheets on this and put a magnet on them, and boom, they are exactly where I want them to be and they stay there.Although I haven't used it yet, it's excellent to have a backup magnet. Simply attach it to my matching black wire wall file folder rack when not in use. I got several more of these because I adore them so much and want to cascade various documents to the side of my monitor. These adhere firmly and maintain their position. Although they can be used on either side of the display, I decided to place mine on the left (I have a bear note holder on the right side, see review). I've attached my third one to a nearby standing lamp and currently have two attached to my monitor. I added a small amount of duct tape to the top and bottom of where the lamp stand attaches to ensure that it stays in place because the lamp stand is circular. I adore it and have a sizable chart with all of my book projects and their status attached to it. I can think of a number of more uses for these holders, and purchasing them (via the add-on program) is nearly addictive. I occasionally lose track of time while transcribing a particularly fascinating document because I go into a "zone" and don't notice things happening around me. For example, I might not realize that it's getting dark outside and fail to turn on the lights until my eyes start to suffer.
