No, WiFi routers are not all the same. They come in different shapes and sizes, and they have different features. Some WiFi routers have better range than others, and some have better speed.
Yes, you can get WiFi with just a router. A router is a device that allows you to connect to the internet wirelessly. In order to connect to the internet, you will need to have a modem.
Most people need both a modem and a router to get their home internet up and running. The modem brings the internet to your home, and the router distributes the signal to your devices.
No, a router does not have to be connected to a computer to work. A router is a device that connects two or more networks together. For example, a router can connect your home network to the Internet.

I've purchased a few of these kinds of gadgets over the years because I truly like them. I cherished my Hootoo journey companion, which lately stopped working because of a bad battery. Since it was produced by the same business, it is very similar to that. The web interface still has the Hootoo interface's appearance, while the mobile interface has a fresh appearance. The device is straightforward to turn on, and with a password of just 8 1s, it is also simple to connect to wifi. Although I haven't really observed a difference between 2.4 and 5 G connections, I appreciate the possibility of 5G. The battery life is intended to keep the stream running and power additional devices. With this, I've tested using a variety of media files, and it will play.mkv,.avi,.mp4,.m4v, and.mp3. When I tested it, it lasted about 6 1/2 hours and you can broadcast to up to 5 devices simultaneously. You can view images, play music and movies, back up contacts and photos, and perform a few other tasks right from the home screen. There are a few things you can do with iOS that you can't do with Android; on the home screen, the sole distinction is that iOS users have access to the camera, but Android users don't. The other distinction is that while you can transfer data from your SD card to your iOS device and vice versa with Android, you can only copy files from your Android device to the storage that is linked to the Ravpower. On both iOS and Android, there is a button to backup your photos, and you can also make a manual copy.If a.srt file with the same name as the movie exists, you can play pick subtitles, but iOS does not support it. This is one of the alternatives you have when playing movies that you don't have on Android. If your movie has numerous audio streams, you can also choose one using Android. You may cast your movies to any DLNA-compatible device from both iOS and Android. The Videos, Photos, and Music apps on the main screen will display those types of files on the device once you allow DLNA in the system service settings. However, all system options, including DLNA and Samba services, can only be accessed by using the 10.10.10.254 ip after connecting. A few settings, including Wifi settings and other network settings, are accessible through the app. You can also view the battery life on the homepage. The online interface also demonstrates that any computer or device with a browser can view all of the USB and SD card files.Last but not least, you may use this device as a battery and charge a phone or tablet by plugging it into it.

I bought this router after a thunderstorm took out both my routers, apparently a surge blasted thru my CAT5 cable and fried everything. Lucky for me my $250 mega monster Linksys router (main router) was still under warranty at Bestbuy, (very easy to claim BTW) (very easy to claim BTW). My access point router was pretty old and probably needed to die anyhow. I started looking and didn't want to break the bank on some really expensive router, just one that would push 100Mbps (my max ISP speed) and had relatively good distance, so I bought this one. I think I was out the door at $62 on Amazon, and one day delivery. Had this sucker set up in no time as an access point, and very easy to do, click the box that says access point on set up, rename the SSID to the same as your main router with same password, and presto, your golden. This is my first TP Link router, and I must say I am impressed with the set up. The routers log in page is very user friendly and easy to navigate. Unless you are going to do some serious router configurations and whatnot, then this is an excellent choice if you are in the market. I am writing this on October 21, 2018, and should something happen or if I get some dropped signals from it, or have any issues with it, I will definitely keep this review updated as I believe that YOU should deserve to know what you are considering for a purchase.

She brought a router that was superior than mine when I moved in with my wife, so we kept hers. Over time, our entire house started to become wiser. Every month, there were more and more smart gadgets communicating around our home. So I made the decision to switch to a TP-Link Router. Over the course of a month, I began to regret that error more and more each day.The smart devices became irate throughout the course of the following month. They were unable to converse openly and carelessly. They occasionally couldn't hear one another. In consolation, the Chromecast sobbed. The intelligent light bulbs started to dim. As Game of Thrones had trouble streaming, our visitors became frustrated with our erratic network. We lost pals. made adversaries We eventually came to the conclusion that more money needed to be spent on this issue. That is how we came to possess this spacecraft. I spent twenty minutes going through all the complex options to make sure it was configured to my inner geek's satisfaction before letting it loose on the internet. Game of Thrones was rapidly streamed. Netflix was unable to supply my router quickly enough. My smart devices blinked into focus. This time, the Chromecast sobbed with happiness.I'm a heroine. And all it needed was a ton of cash.

Disclaimer: I was not compensated for writing this review or asked to recommend this product by Netgear (AX 8). I had the good fortune to be chosen for this router's beta testing. I am giving my opinion after using this product for more than two months in the actual world.Pros:1) Fantastic design2) The new Netgear GUI for setup and configuration is quick and incredibly user-friendly. I set up the router in around five minutes.3) The performance is adequate right out of the box, but I anticipate that it will get even better with subsequent firmware updates. Additionally, performance will improve if compatible AX clients are connected to the router.4) No WiFi dropouts5) Has no trouble handling 20 streaming clients.7) Wireless or wired streaming without stuttering or buffering8) Coverage (3 bars) 30 feet outside the house and no dead spots in a 3500 square foot residence9) Can build a single SSID that can easily accommodate clients using both 2.4 and 5 GHz.10) There are no problems connecting older AC wireless devices (Android and iOS)11) There is no VPN issue12) The gigabit fiber speed test results are 940 mbps up and down and a ping time of 2 ms to the testing server.Cons: 1. Cost2) To fully utilize this solution, you'll require AX clients. AX should take off in 2019 or later.3) When you initially turn on the router, the fan will be audible. After you configure the router, be important to upgrade to version.36 of the firmware to ensure that the fan does not continue to run during regular operation.4) For this pricing point, I would have wanted to have 8 gigabit ports.5) Future add-ons for parental controls and antivirus software would be welcomeOverall, I am extremely satisfied with this router's performance (even on the first beta firmware). This router is a fantastic option if your router is more than four years old or if your home has a lot of wireless devices. The router is well built, however the pricing is a little high. Performance should improve as firmware starts to develop. The router has been in constant use by me for two months, and it has performed beautifully. No Wi-Fi dead zones have been discovered inside the house. Gaming, web browsing, and streaming videos all function without any problems.

The Asus RT-ACRH13 MU MIMO AC1300 router is the subject of this review. This qualifies itself since I found that reviews for many models, spanning from 802.11N to 802.11AC routers, are mixed together.1) This is a 24-hour evaluation with initial thoughts. I'll attempt to update in a week or a month.Configuration: The firmware has several minor bugs. Sometimes the factory SSID persists even after setting up the SSIDs and PWDS for the 2.4 and 5GHz WiFi. The WiFi failed to turn on after restarting, however a power cycle fixed it. The Guest Network configuration is a little unclear. A guest network profile can only be enabled and then deleted, however 3 guest networks can be configured.Performance - up to this point, the performance has been excellent. I have a MagicJack adaptor, a NAS station, and a wired Fire TV. Everything is in fine functioning order. The Fire TV loads the home screen, accesses apps, etc. significantly faster than it did in the past. My home is a two-story wood frame building. Anywhere in the home has powerful WiFi. I have two Android and iPhone smartphones, as well as two Samsung tablets. Additionally, I've got 2 connected laptops—a Surface 4 Pro and a Samsung—and all are functional. It also works quite well to produce beams. Using WiFi Analyzer, I can see that the 5GHz signal strength decreases as you get further from the router. When you stop, the signal intensity immediately increases to 45–50dBm, which is a very powerful signal. I haven't had any dropped connections or other problems thus far. Additionally, I have a WiFi-connected security camera that is in perfect working order. So after 24 hours, performance is excellent! I paid full money for this review item; it is not free. Observe this space.Last week's update No problems at all. No configuration loss or connection loss. also running fairly cool. I reside in a gated neighborhood with numerous wifi access points. Performance is solid and trustworthy. I tested a Netgear wifi range extender with the router out of curiosity more than need. Configure the extender so that it extends on 5GHz while connecting to the router at 2.4GHz (fast lane technology). There is no slower speed on the extended network than there is on the router. Thus far, so good!Updated after a month. Still very satisfied with the product. None of the positive qualities that were previously listed have changed.** Three-month update Performance remains excellent. I made that mistake with my tablet, which is what caused my initial configuration problems. My laptop's connection to the router configuration was flawless.

For my Xbox One S, I purchased the TP-Link N300 Travel Router (without the USB port). It wasn't as good as I had anticipated. The Xbox is unable to access the indirect wi-fi login mechanism used by my institution (we connect to the open university network, which displays an internet page asking us to log in with our university ID and password to authenticate). So I made the decision to set up a tiny private network with its own SSID and password in my room. Because this tiny router offers more capabilities for about the same price as most extenders, I chose it over just a range extender.Size: As you can see in my images, it is about the size of two quarters placed side by side, with a thickness of three-quarters of a quarter. When I opened it, I was astounded at how little it was.Accessories include an Ethernet cable, a USB charger, a wall adapter (although it is a bit cumbersome by today's standards), a travel pouch, a Wi-fi Info Card, and the usual instructions.Quick and simple setup, however you'll need a computer to view the setup page (I'm not sure if it works on a smartphone or tablet). I set mine up in Access Point Mode in approximately five minutes. In essence, you connect the router in your preferred mode in accordance with the image and instructions. Then, you visit tplinkwifi(dot)net to complete a fast setup and connect to your router from your computer using the password on the Wi-Fi Info Card. Here, you can modify your SSID, password, and other router-related information. To setup the router again, restart.Five modes are available: two for travel and three for use at home. For my purposes, I chose the Access Point (AP) Mode, albeit I could have stayed with the normal Wireless Router mode. I couldn't use Client mode since the ethernet connector in my room was too far from my Xbox. In any case, it's really effective. I've made an effort to explain the various modes below, but I'm not an expert in this field, so if there are any errors, just let me know.To Travel:Wireless router (standard): A wired internet connection is essentially made wireless.2. A hotspot router turns an unsecured (and open) wireless connection into a password-protected one (personal hotspot). You can have one device physically connected to the router while the rest of your devices are simultaneously using your protected wi-fi since the router converts the unsecured wireless connection into a secured wireless/wired connection. helpful for accessing the internet in public settings like cafes. It's ideal, in my opinion, for hotel rooms where only one device is permitted to access the internet at a time. All of your devices can access the internet once you connect this. For the home3. Range Extender: This mode is similar to the Hotspot Router Mode in that it goes from one wi-fi network to another, but it uses your home's network and uses the same password as your AP. It will increase your home's wi-fi range to cover any wi-fi dead zones there may be (like the attic or basement, or that weird corner of the room where you like to huddle and binge watch Netflix but just happens to be the same place where wi-fi connectivity is super sketch and the video never loads). The router supports simultaneous use of wired and wireless connections.4. Client: This mode takes a wireless network and wires it so that devices without wi-fi capability can connect to the internet. It is somewhat of the opposite of the Wireless Router mode. It works well with printers, game consoles, and smart TVs.5. Access Point: Similar to the Wireless Router mode, this device converts a wired network to wireless.Speed: The download speed wasn't actually compromised in any way. I'm pleased it wasn't sacrificed because my university provides amazingly fast wi-fi (though my dorm isn't as fast as our libraries). Although inconsistent, the upload speeds were still respectable. In my photos, you can see the results of the speed test.I really like this tiny router overall. Its compact size (it's smaller than the MagSafe adaptor for my Macbook Pro!) and simple configuration make it ideal for travel. Unquestionably a buy I recommend.

Wi-fi is a term my mother is unfamiliar with. Going to her place and finding no connection was dreadful. The modem-equipped desktop PC in the office served as the only point of connection. For my own sanity, I searched Amazon for the least expensive router with positive reviews and came upon this one. It is quite simple to set up and works perfectly for both my mother, whom I instructed to set up her phone on it, and me.If you do this for a family member, I highly advise marking all the cords with neon sticky notes and tape so they will know where to plug things back in if they get unplugged. My mother had to move the furniture and reorganize it, but she had no trouble plugging everything back in where the labels said. She did forget the IP and password a few times, but she was able to find it by looking at the note I had taped to the router. I also advise doing this. She appreciates having a wireless password because she didn't want anyone to use the internet without her permission.Having wireless internet access for $20 is unbeatable. Even on the second floor, there is a strong signal. No grievances. She hasn't called me about any problems with it since I installed it two years ago. It is still operating when I arrive.

YES! To share hotel WiFi, it works...Mostly Marriott for me, but I've also worked in hotels owned by Hilton (that I have tested). There is no way it could be any easier. Set the middle setting on the side switch (Share Hotspot). Turn it up. Log in and proceed through the process. Simply choose "Dynamic" with no user or pass and continue for ISP junk. After that, "share wifi," look for wifi networks. Join the hotel's WiFi. At this point, you'll probably notice a dozen hotel wifi networks with the same SSID. The signals are ranked from strongest to weakest, so pick one towards the top WITHOUT a password (choose the open one). It will then connect and ask you for the SSID for both the 2.4 GHz and the 5.0 GHz networks. Next, enter your wifi name. It will ask you to restart. Give it at least three minutes. one of the two SSIDs to connect to (generally the 5.0 band has higher bandwidth). To force the redirect to the captivate portal logon page, open the browser on the linked device and navigate to a NON httpS URL. Logon. Connect several devices to your network to make money!
If you want to configure your router, the first thing you need to do is connect to it. To do this, you'll need to know your router's IP address. Once you're connected, you can change your router's settings.
If you're not sure what type of router you have, there are a few ways to find out. One way is to look at the router's documentation or look for a label on the router itself that lists the model name or number. Another way to identify your router is by looking at the IP address of the router. This can usually be found in the router's documentation or by looking at the router's web interface. The IP address will likely be in the form of 192.168.x.x or 10.0.x.x. Once you know
There are a few signs that you might need a new router: -Your internet is slow or keeps cutting out -You can only connect to the internet from one device -Your router is more than five years old -Your router isn't the latest 802.11 standard If you're experiencing any of these problems, it might be time for an upgrade. New routers can be expensive, but they can also dramatically improve your internet speed and reliability.
A router is a device that connects two or more computer networks. Routers are used to connect to the internet. A router connects to the internet by using an Ethernet cable. The router then uses the internet to connect to the computer.
A router is a device that connects two or more computer networks. It allows devices on different networks to communicate with each other. Routers use special protocols to send and receive data packets between devices on different networks.
How often should you replace your router? This is a difficult question to answer because it depends on a number of factors, including how often you use your router, the quality of your router, and the type of router you have. In general, however, it is a good idea to replace your router every few years to ensure that you have the best possible performance. Additionally, if you notice that your router is not performing as well as it used to, it may be time for a replacement.
