I currently have a silver one on my Bb Clarinet with nickel-plated keys, a gold one on my Soprano Sax, a gold one with gold-colored keys on my Bass Clarinet, and a silver one with silver-colored keys on my Clarinet. Currently a student in high school, I have been playing clarinet for seven years. Why I didn't receive this sooner is beyond me. It took me until this point to discover that the cheap-o ligature I had been using since band class in sixth grade was the cause of my tone getting worse as I became more skilled. This works really well for me when used with 2.5 Vandoren reeds. It sounds clean and unfussy while producing a beautiful, full, dark sound. really aids in producing high notes with good tone.However, you cannot simply attach the device to your mouthpiece after opening the package. Before doing so, you must adhere to the box's instructions. For me, all I had to do was apply cork grease to coat the metal components before using it. I lubricated the metal components at the start of each practice session for approximately a week because I play for around three hours every day. If you don't do this, the sound will be dull and blurry. If you have a dull sound when practicing, you may occasionally need to oil. This won't be necessary after a time because the ligature will adapt to your mouthpiece and reed.

My clarinet private instructor, who also uses the Vandoren Optimum Premium Ligature, highly suggested it to me. I was interested to see how I would sound after reading several reviews on Amazon that discussed the three different pressure plates for the ligature. When I say shipping was quick, I mean 3 days with free shipping. wow. The Ligature arrives in a pretty tidy packaging with the logos on the side and such such things. A brochure outlining all three of the pressure plates in detail is contained inside the box. To protect the silver plating on the ligature, it is very carefully packed inside a brown plastic non-corrosive bag. The glossy ligature was expertly positioned inside a plastic mouthpiece cover when I opened the bag. I must admit that when I removed the ligature, it was and seemed incredibly well-made, with all of the pieces being of the highest quality (before I questioned whether this $71.00 item was worth the money). Three different plates are included with the ligature. Wow. I couldn't tell if I was playing on my clarinet (R-13) since it was so good and I was so amazed when I did! The reed's free and steady vibration is given top attention by this ligature. Even though blowing is so simple, the clarinetist's desired hue and darkness are still maintained. I ordered this ligature to go with my daughter's new Yamaha 4C clarinet mouthpiece, but it turns out I didn't need it because the ligature was already included in the brand-new mouthpiece.
