Best Clarinet Ligatures in 2020

BG L2BG Traditional Bb Clarinet Ligature with Cap Review:

I have a gold one on my clarinet with gold colored keys, a silver one on my Bass Clarinet, another gold one on my Soprano Sax, now this silver one on my Bb Clarinet with nickel plated keys. This is my favorite ligature. If there is a temperature change at an outdoor event, I can readjust in seconds.

Rovner Dark 1R Bb Clarinet Ligature and Cap Review:

I'm a high school senior, and I've been playing clarinet for 7 years. I don't know why I didn't get this sooner. As I became more advanced, my tone began to suffer, and it took me this long to realize that it was the cheap-o ligature I had used since 6th grade band. This, paired with 2.5 Vandoren reeds, works very well for me. It produces a nice, full, dark sound while still sounding clean and not fuzzy. Helps a lot with getting the high notes to sound with good tone.

This being said, you cannot slap the thing on your mouthpiece straight out of the box. Before you do so, you need to follow the directions in the box. For me, all I had to do was oil the metal parts with cork grease and it was ready to use. I play for about 3 hours each day, so I oiled the metal parts at the beginning of each practice session for about a week. If you don't do this, you'll get a fuzzy, dull sound. Sometimes it's neccessary to oil in the middle of practicing if you have a dull sound. After a while, the ligature will conform to your mouthpiece and reed and this won't be necessary.

Andoer Leather Ligature Fastener with Plastic Cap for Clarinet Bakelite Mouthpiece Durable Review:

This is a very good product for the price. Every Clarinet player should try this Ligature. It does improve the tone and make the air easier to control. It even make the some bad reeds better and usable. I highly recommend.

Vandoren LC01P Optimum Ligature and Plastic Cap for Bb Clarinet Silver Plated with 3 Interchangeable Pressure Plates Review:

The Vandoren Optimum Premium Ligature was strongly recommended to me by my Clarinet private instructor as he also uses this very ligature. I saw some reviews on Amazon talking about the 3 different pressure plates for the ligature I was excited to see what I will sound like. Shipping was extremely fast and when I say fast I mean 3 days on free shipping. wow. The Ligature comes very neatly packed in its own box with the logo's on the side and whatnot. The box inside has a pamphlet describing each of the 3 pressure plates individually in full depth. The Ligature is very nicely placed inside a brown plastic non-corrosive bag to protect the silver plating on the ligature. When I opened the bad the shiny ligature was carefully placed inside a plastic mouthpiece cover. I must say, when I took the ligature out is was and looked very very very well made, all the parts are of the finest quality (Before hand questioning this $71.00 product to see if it was worth the $). The ligature comes with three different plates. Wow. When I played on my clarinet (R-13) I was so stunned I didn't know if It was me who was playing or not it was so good! This ligature really makes the reed vibrating freely and evenly number 1 priority. It's so easy blowing but still maintains the same color and darkness a clarinetist strives for. Let me tell you now, This ligature is basically 3 different amazing ligatures all in one with these pressure plates, Each has a very distinct difference of sound, it's so awesome. No need to buy any other ligature, THIS IS THE ONE TO GET. Not only does it play absolutely beautifully, but it looks really cool too! This ligature is a MUST HAVE for any Sax or Clarinet player, you will sound 100% better than you originally have and you will know it the first time you play a note! Don't mind the money, it's worth every single penny no joke hands down the very best ligature out there on the market today. I would recommend this to the intermediate player through Professional musicians. Hope this helped, Happy playing :)

Inexpensive and my son likes it. Great for a student looking to try a leather ligature instead of metal.

Yamaha YAC 1601 Nickel-Plated Ligature for Bb Clarinet (YAC-1601) Review:

Bought this ligature for my daughter's new clarinet 4c mouthpiece... but in retrospect I did not need it, as the brand new Yamaha 4C clarinet mouthpiece (bought at the same time) included the ligature. I'm sure it is great, but actually we never used it. It is still sealed in its bag. Yamaha YAC-1601 Bb Clarinet Ligature Nickel
