My old utility pump kept getting clogged with leaves and lawn clippings, so I bought this one to clear rainwater. To ensure there was at least 3-1/2" of water for the self-priming, I excavated a 4" deep sump beneath the concrete top. The HC7000 Utility Pump Controller, which has a straightforward electrode tip that I installed 4" from the bottom using a tie strap, works wonderfully with this pump and is what I'm utilizing for the float switch.It's just a little bit larger than the 1/2 HP model, but pumps even stronger for handling solids. I'm glad I chose the 1 HP model rather than the popular 1/2 HP model. My 20-year-old pump failed, and since I live on a yacht, I investigated reviews and chose the ShurFlo Aqua King II. It is quite quiet when running and has sufficient pressure to take a shower. I also bought the accumulator tank and sound-reducing kit, which enables me to obtain a glass of water without the pump turning on. I think it's a nice product and would suggest it.

This pump was about as cheap as I could find for a self-priming, non-submersible pump. I use this pump to pump degreaser out of a 5 gallon bucket at a restaurant. Every week, we use roughly 5 gallons. The pump is under the three compartment sink and affixed to the wall. Without any problems, the lift is about 4 feet. It is regularly employed. I've connected two 12v 7amp SLA batteries in parallel.UPDATE: fourth monthThis pump is still doing an excellent job. In 4 months, it has pumped roughly 80 gallons of sanitizer. Two parallel 12v 7ah SLA batteries serve as the power source. I still haven't had to charge it. Given that SLA batteries perform best when maintained charged, I ought to do it soon because it has been 4 months.As an aside, I attached this device to my 2-gallon manual pump sprayer when I originally acquired it. I was interested to test how well it would function with only water if I ever wanted to link it to a pesticide sprayer. Low pressure made it less effective. If I had used a 100 psi pump, I have a feeling it would have performed much better. In case someone was considering using it as a sprayer.

It is a fairly affordable substitute for the shower sump/pump on my boat. For me, choosing this over a straight sawp that would have cost $280 was a no-brainer because I just sometimes use it.The hose bard end can be cut off with a hacksaw to the appropriate size, then hoses are attached. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE HOSE CLAMP, AS YOU WILL BREAK IT OVER TIME. The pump is then wired in.- The integrated float switch and pump are located in a box or lid, and there is a slot-in "filter" screen to prevent hair and other debris from entering into the pump.CONS - If you're bluewater cruising, stay away from this and purchase a better housing because the filter screen and unit are quite frail. After a few seasons, you don't want a broken hose barb on the box to rip off everytime the hoses are jostled. Integrated float switch is more likely to malfunction than the pump.SUMMARYIf you're okay with handling your own upkeep, buy it as a quick, inexpensive item for inshore use. In that situation, of great value. Carefully install it with hose strain relief.

We had to replace our previous unit because the first one failed after 12 years. If correct PM is used, new one should last as long. (Even though it was a little bit bigger than the previous model, it easily fit in the bilge) We had no problems going a day without one in service thanks to Amazon's quick shipment and prices that were far better than those in marine retailers.

I bought it mostly so that the pump would be on the back side of the box, where any remaining water would go when the boat was moving. Although I could have added more pipes and turned the old sump around 180 degrees, changing the sump box was considerably simpler. This box performs admirably. I can't comment on the included pump because I didn't use it, but it now serves as my backup. You will require a nice fine tooth saw to install the plastic because it is so tough and unyielding. It is impossible to open the ports using a sharp knife.

My 1994 Catalina 320 sailboat's outdated shower sump system was replaced. The installation was simple, and shipping was quick. I connected the positive wire from the new unit (after turning off power) and the ground to the existing ground to verify the voltage on the wires. My bilge switch was set to automatic. Everything in the device tested out fine. If your sump system has many inlets, the hose cutouts are close together. The shower drain in my home has a single inlet. With the rule 1000 pump and float switch from the prior unit, all hoses remained in place. For my installation, no new manufacturing was required. I had to put plumbers Teflon tape to the fitting because the pump's pressure was so strong and I didn't want the hoses to leak. After installation, the system operates flawlessly with no leaks or problems. Although it is true that some people have complained that the lid doesn't screw on, for me this is a benefit as I had to remove a significant amount of my flooring to complete the installation. With the help of the six clips, I can wipe the bilge access lid off without having to later take off a part of flooring. My flooring is fastened to the structure of the boat and comes out in parts, so removing the flooring wasn't a big bother. I simply like not having to remove it for unit maintenance. I don't think the clips keeping the lid on will break if you can carefully lift them. The best thing about this shower sump system is that it costs significantly less than half as much as equivalent units with a rule pump. Maintaining the device will also be affordable as a replacement pump with an automatic float switch is widely available for about $30. I don't think there is a huge quality difference between the pumps because both the rule float switch and rule 1000 pump were failing in the prior unit. It would have cost significantly more to buy this equipment new than to replace the Rule switch and pump. This item comes highly recommended.
